Hi Folks ~~ I have had a busy day with my shopping trip. I told
Kerry, my carer lady who takes me, fortnightly that I wanted
one of everything. Well not quite, but it was quite a long list.
All stocked up again, so now I will have to do some cooking.
I hope all is well at your place, wherever that may be. It seems
as though none of us are complaining about being too hot or
too cold, and these weeks between are fairly pleasant for all.
However, I guess we will soon be complaining again !!
Tonight's story is called "The Ant and the Contact Lens :
a true story. I hope you enjoy it.
Brenda was almost halfway to the top of the tremedous
granite cliff. She a standing on a ledge where she was taking
a breather during this, her first rock climb As she rested there,
the safety rope snapped against her eye and knocked out her
contact lens. "Great," she thought. "Here I am on a rock ledge
hundreds of feet frm the bottom and hundreds of feet to the
top of this cliff, and now my sight is blurry."
She looked and looked, hoping that somehow it had landed
on the ledge. But it wasn't there.
She felt panic rising in her, so she began praying. She prayed
for strength and calm, and she prayed that she might find
her contact lens.
When she got to the top, a friend examined her eye and her
clothing for the lens, but it was not to be found. Although
she was calm now that she was at the top, she was saddened
because she could not clearly see across the range of
mountains. She thought of the Bible verse, "The eyes of the
Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth."
She thought, "Lord, You can see all these mountains. You
know every stone and leaf, and You know exactly where my
contact lens is. Please help me."
Later, when they had hiked down the trail to the bottom
of the cliff they met another party of climbers just starting
up the face of the cliff. One of them shouted out, "Hey, you
guys ! Anybody lose a contact lens ?"
Well, that would be startling enough, but you know why the
climber saw it ? An ant was moving slowly across a twig on
the face of the rock, carrying it !!
The story doesn't end there. Brenda's father is a cartoonist.
When she told him the incredble story of the ant, the prayer,
and the contact lens, he drew a cartoon of an ant lugging
that contact lens with the caption, "Lord, I don't know why
You want me to carry this thing. I can't eat it, and it's very
heavy. But if this is what You want me to do, I'll carry it
for You.
I think it would do all of us some good to say, "God, I don't
know why You want me to carry this load. I can see no good
in it and it's awfully heavy. But, if You want me to carry it,
I will."
God doesn't call the qualified. He qualifies the called.
Yes, I do love God. He is my source of existence and my
Savior. He keeps me functioning each and every day.
Without Him, I am nothing, but with Him . . . . . I can do all
things through Christ which strengthens me. (Phil. 4:13 )

Satan's Beatitudes - - --
If the devil were to write his Beatitudes, they would probably
go something like this :
Blessed are those who are too tired, too busy, too distracted
to spend an hour once a week with their fellow Christians --
they are my best workers.
Blessed are those Christians who wait to be asked and expect
to be thanked.-- I can use them.
Blessed are the touchy. With a bit of luck, they may stop
going to church --they are my missionaries.
Blessed are the trouble-makers -- they shall be called
my children.
Blessed are the complainers -- I'm all ears to them.
Blessed are they who are bored with the minister's
mannerisms and mistakes -- for they get nothing out
of his sermons.
Blessed is the church member who expects to be invited
to his own church -- for he is a part of the problem
instead of the solution.
Blessed are they who gossip -- for they will cause strife
and divisions that please me.
Blessed are they who are easily offended -- for they will
soon get angry and quit.
Blessed are they who do not give at the offering to carry
on God's work --for they are my helpers.
Blessed is he wo professes to love God but hates his brother
and sister -- for he shall be with me forever.
Blessed are you when you read this and think it is about
other people and not yourself - - I've got you.

It's not the times in your life that are important. It's
the life in your times.
It's good to remember that we aren't helpless. There is
always something we can do.
I'm living so far beyond my income that we may almost be
said to be living apart.
The door to wisdom swings on hinges of common sense
and uncommon thoughts.
Counting time is not as important as making time count.
Remember the day's blessings, forget the day's troubles.
Time to stop tonight. Take care everyone and have a great
week. Cheers, Love, Merle.

Good for you - being all stocked up again. I'm not necessarily complaining about it but we have already had two days this week in the low 90s (F) with another due tomorrow - hope to get some rain in the next couple of days. Very meaningful to "Remember the day's blessings, forget the day's troubles." ec
