Hi Everyone ~~ Happy 4th July to the Americans reading this.
I hope that you all enjoy Independence Day and celebrate it
doing whatever you wish to do on this holiday. Enjoy !!
I hope everyone is well and enjoying life and that the weather is
kind. Coolish here, but it is Winter, so must expect it. I am very
fortunate that I can stay indoors most of the time, with heaters
and rugs around my knees. Electric blanket at night !!
Blogger has decided no photos tonight, as the Add image icon
would not open. Try again tomorrow. There are lots of pic s
to post to show you, eventually.
I found this nice story called "A Piece of My Heart". I hope you
enjoy it. The Author is Unknown.
One day a young man was standing in the middle of town,
proclaiming that he had the most beautiful heart in the whole
valley. A large crowd gathered and they all admired his heart
for it was perfect. There was not a mark or flaw in it. Yes, they
all agreed it truly was the most beautiful heart they had ever seen.
The young man was very proud and boasted more loudly about
his beautiful heart. Suddenly, an old man appeared at the front
of the crowd and said, " Why your heart is not nearly as beautiful
as mine."
The crowd and the young man looked at the old man's heart. It was
beating strongly, but it was full of scars. It had places where pieces
had been removed and other pieces put in, but they didn't quite fit
and there were several jagged edges. In fact, in some places there
were deep gouges where whole pieces were missing.
The people stared -- how can he say his heart is more beautiful,
they thought.
The young man looked at the old man's heart and saw it's state
and laughed.
"You must be joking," he said. "Compare your heart with mine.
Mine is perfect and yours is a mess of scars and tears.
"Yes," said the old man, "yours is perfect looking but I would
never trade with you. You see, every scar represents a person to
whom I have given my love - I tear out a piece of my heart and
give it to them, and often they give me a piece of their heart
which fits into the empty place in my heart, but because the
pieces aren't exact, I have some rough edges, which I cherish,
because they remind me of the love we shared."
"Sometimes I have given pieces of my heart away, and the other
person hasn't returned a piece of his heart to me. These are the
empty gouges --- giving love, is taking a chance. Although these
gouges are painful, they stay open, reminding me of the love I
have for these people too, and i hope someday they may return
and fill the space I have waiting. So now do you see what true
beauty is ?"
The young man stood silently with tears running down his cheeks.
He walked up to the old man, reached into his perfect young and
beautiful heart and ripped a piece out. He offered it to the old man
with trembling hands. The old man took his offering, placed it in
his heart and then took a piece from his old scarred heart and placed
it in the wound in the young man's heart. It fit, but not perfectly,
as there were some jagged edges.
The young man looked at his heart, not perfect anymore but more
beautiful than ever, since love from the old man's heart flowed into
his. <><><>
A blonde came home from school and say to her mom, "We learned
how to count up to 5 today mommy. I got up to 10. Is it because I'm
blonde, mommy?
Mom replies, "Yes dear."
Next day, "We learned how to do the alphabet today. The others got
up to E and I got up to S. Is it because I am blonde?"
Mom replies, " Yes dear."
Day 3. "We learned about breasts today. All the other girls are flat
chested and I'm a 36 DD. Is it because I'm blonde, Mommy?"
Mom replies, "No dear, it's because you're 25."

A father asked his son, Johnny if he knew about the birds and bees.
"I don't want to know !" said Johnny, bursting into tears.
Confused, his father asked Little Johnny what was wrong.
"Oh Pop," Johnny sobbed, "For me there was no Santa Claus at
age six, no Easter Bunny at seven, and no Tooth Fairy at eight.
If you're now telling me that grownups don't really have sex,
I've got nothing left to believe in !!"

Teacher asks the kids in spelling class to tell what their father
does for a living, and spell it. First kid says, "My daddy's a
baker/ That's b-a-k-e-r.. He makes bread and lots of cakes.
Second kid says, "My daddy's a banker. That's b-a-n-k-e-r.
He makes lots of money and buys us toys.
Next kid says, " My daddy's an electrician. That's e-l-a-k ----
The teacher interrupts, saying, "That's OK Raymond. Think
about it and we'll come back to you." Turning to Little
Johnny, she says, "You're next, Johnny."
Little Johnny says, "My daddy's a bookie. That's b-o-o-k-i-e,
and I'll lay odds ten to one that Raymond don't ever spell
electrician.

Thanks for the July 4th wishes, we are having some of the family over this afternoon to eat together. Mark Twain is one of my favorites and the quote about the wrinkles and smiles is a good one. ec
Happy Wednesday dear Merle:-) What a shame Blogger has been acting up for you and won't let you post pictures today...I'm so enjoying the ones you have been able to post! It's raining here today and 18c...not sure where our summer weather went!!
The Piece of My Heart story was so touching, it brought tears...just goes to show perfection doesn't always mean the best! Gotta love the Mark Twain quote about wrinkles...I prefer his explanation! lol
Have a wonderful day my friend and take care of YOU!! xoxo
Merle
Have enjoyed all your posts lately but have been unable to comment. Blogger keeps eating them or maybe it is the aliens creeping about.
Loved the heart story and the Psychiatric Hotline.
Still very sore from the car wreck.
Well Merle, Mrs. Jim has all of my ugly heart. I gave it to her after her first arrow pierced it 35 years ago.
I'm glad you found another blonde joke, I like blondes.
..
A Piece of My Heart, that's beautiful, Merle.
As for the Psychiatric Hotline, I think maybe I qualify for one or two of those...lol!
Keep yourself rugged up and warm, don't let Jack Frost bite your tootsies...Hugs xoxo
More "gems" from you Merle. I bet you are looking forward to seeing your Grandaughter. Hope the weather does't get to cold for you; I read that some parts of Australia have been having really bad storms. What a shame Blogger is playing you up; just as you'd got the hang of uploading photos! Take care, stay well,
Rx
It's blowing a gale up here, Merle and has been for the past 24 hours or so. The wind is supposed to die down Friday morning. I hope so.
Love your pics in your previous post. I've not seen Hoya for a while...it's a lovely plant.
Take care. :)
Thank you so much Dear, for your Happy 4th of July wishes.
It rained here so it wasn't one of those picture-perfect days. But come now, they can't happen every hoiday, can they? Of course not. And we were still able to enjoy out holiday in freedom. And that's what counts.
