Life.

Hi Everyone ~~ I hope your weekend is going well, but
it is over in Australia. It has been a good one for me as
my son came and helped put up some curtains for me and
then took me for a walk around a market in the gardens
in Shepparton. I bought a nice top and some vegetables.

Then this afternoon, a gentleman called from a Morgan
Gallup Poll and interviewed me on many and varied subjects
which was quite interesting. I was not obliged to answer
all the questions, but it went well. The poor man was so
embarrassed to ask the date of my birth – it is no secret.

It was way, way back in 1934. These polls are often held
and claim to be a reflection of the community, but like
many others I had not been interviewed until today. I
guess if you wait until you reach 72 all things come to you
eventually. I doubt if the world will change for my little
contribution. He said they are told to do this on Sundays
probably because a lot of folks are at home.

An old friend from our teenage years sent me a nice e-mail
called “Life.” so I will post it for you

In life there are moments, when you miss someone so much,
that you wish you could grab them out of your dreams and
hug them tight.

When a door closes, another one opens,
But often we stand there so long looking at the closed door,
That we do not see the one that’s opened.

Do not look at physical appearances, they can be deceiving
For they are only temporary
Look for someone who makes you smile,
Because sometimes it only takes a smile to brighten up a
very dark day.
Look for someone who makes your heart sing.

Dream what you want to dream;
Go where you want to go;
Try to be who you really are;
Because life is short, and often only gives one choice
to do things.

I wish you in life good fortune to feel good;
Many trials to remain strong;
Some tears to remain human;
Lots of hope to become happy.

The really blessed people do not necessarily have the
best of everything
They are the ones who make the most of whatever
life throws at them.

The most splendid future will always depend
Upon the necessity to release the past
You cannot move forward in life, unless you learn from
your past mistakes and move on.

When you were born you were crying while everybody
around you was smiling
Always live your life smiling even when other people
around you are crying.

Life is not measured with the quantity of breaths you take
But with the quality of moments that took your breath away.

Therefore, live each day as though it were your last and
there were no tomorrow.

And may God keep you always, my friend.

Now for a joke or two - - -

The Limo Driver

After getting all of the Pope's luggage loaded into the limo
(and he doesn't travel light), the driver notices that the Pope is still
standing on the curb.
"Excuse me, Your Eminence," says the driver, "Would you please take
your seat so we can leave?

"Well, to tell you the truth," says the Pope, "they never let me drive
at the Vatican, and I'd really like to drive today."

"I'm sorry but I cannot let you do that. I'd lose my job! What if
something should happen?" protests the driver, wishing he'd never gone
to work that morning.

"There might be something extra in it for you," says the Pope.

Reluctantly, the driver gets in the back as the Pope climbs in behind
the wheel. The driver quickly regrets his decision when, after exiting the
airport, the Supreme Pontiff floors it, accelerating the limo to 105 mph.

"Please slow down, Your Holiness!!" pleads the worried driver, but the
Pope keeps the pedal to the metal until they hear sirens. "Oh, my God, I'm
gonna lose my license," moans the driver.

The Pope pulls over and rolls down the window as the cop approaches,
but the cop takes one look at him, goes back to his motorcycle, and gets
on the radio.

"I need to talk to the Chief," he says to the dispatcher. The Chief
gets on the radio and the cop tells him that he's stopped a limo going a
hundred and five.

"So bust him," said the Chief.

"I don't think we want to do that, he's really important," said the
cop.

The Chief then asked, "Who ya got there, the Mayor?"

Cop: "Bigger"

Chief: "Governor?"

Cop: "Bigger"

Chief: "Senator?"

Cop: "Bigger"

"Well," said the Chief, "Who is it?"

Cop: "I think it's Jesus!"

Chief: "What makes you think it's Jesus?"

Cop: "He's got the Pope for a limo driver!"

A couple were drivng through the countryside of Ireland when they
came across a farmer standing motionless in the middle of a field.
The husband said to his wife, “We better check on him.”
So the couple stopped and walked up to the farmer in the field
and asked if he was OK.

The farmer replied, “Oh yes, I’m fine. I just heard that any man
outstanding in his field can win the Nobel prize.”

That’s it folks, so ‘till next time, take care, Merle.

Hi once again Merle! I haven't been here for some time and did a lot of reading. I enjoy your recipes, and will try them. I love the crock pot cooking because it's so simple and takes no time (well, takes time, but really no effort) and they always sound so delicious.

I also have to catch up on your jokes...I'm addicted to reading your jokes.

(I love 'em all, but the one with the condoms and the lady with the 18 yr. old breasts and the limo driver had me in stitches I was laughing so hardily!!!)

Happy day to you.

Hi Merle,

I was at the market myself this morning, its a great way to spend Sunday mornings, especially when the sun is shining. There was a memorial service happening across the road when I was there .. Do you know what that was about??

The "Life" wisdom reminds me of a piece that was put to music a few years ago called "Wear Sunscreen" or something like that. I heard it the other day and it's very similar.

I haven't been to the markets for ages. Jane goes most Sunday mornings and one of these days I'll go with her because she gets wonderful bargains.

Love the Irishman "outstanding in his field" and I have heard the Pope one before. My father always used to say that there's more wit in the world than ever came out of it and he was right! Makes me wonder where all the jokes come from.

Anyway, glad you got your curtains up and had a nice day with your son.

Take care for now.

Hugs, Robyn xoxo

Hi Merle -- You are a busy blogger, I never would have time to write all that you do.
I liked your Pope joke.

Oh yes, congrats on the 10,000. Yes, there are bloggers who are silent. Some have left posts on mine and never been counted.
I'm at 8720 or so tonight. If I live long enough, maybe 10,000?
