Memes and Jokes

Howdy Folks ~~ I thank you all for your words of
comfort and I hope you know how much my blogging
friends mean to me. I enjoy reading your blogs and
learning about your lives and different countries.

I have been tagged for 2 memes for some time now
so will attempt to do them now.June tagged me for a book meme
where I have to turn to page 123 and scroll down after the first
5 sentences Then post the text of the next 3 sentences and give
the name of the book and author. I prefer not to tag others.

The book is “The Good, the Bad and the Inevitable” and
the author is Barbara Holborow, who was a former
children’s magistrate, who wrote about so many tragic
cases and so many successful outcomes.

“To this day, I am glad that I cancelled all my appointments.
I am glad I got on that plane and I am glad that I saw Flyn.
Because, I never saw him alive again.”

The other meme from Donna was to tell of 5 weird things
about me. I don’t know how weird they are, but unusual –--

1. I hate escalators – they terrify me. I can go up, but
wont go down on them. (I copied this one but it’s true)

2. I have quite a few CDs hanging outside the house to
deter the birds from visiting my porch etc. It doesn’t
but I love all the colors as they sway in a breeze.

3. I have 3 rubber snakes n my vegetable garden, again
to deter birds. They don’t, but have given me a scare
at times when I am not thinking.

4. I do not drink either tea or coffee, and much prefer
cold drinks, mostly Diet Apple and Raspberry cordial.
If I am very cold, occasionally I have a hot chocolate.

5. I rarely get to bed before 1.30 am,or even later.
I plan on an early night. No self discipline there,
just think of something else to do or read or whatever.

As proof of this it is just after midnight and here I am
and I have a local paper to read before I go to bed.

A brief poem alled “Books”

Books are keys to wisdom’s treasure,
Books are gates to lands of pleasure,
Books are paths that upward lead;
Books are friends. Come, let us read.

Now a couple of jokes that Pea sent me. Thanks Carole.

Mid-life Crisis

One day, after 25 years of marriage, I took a good look at my wife
one day and said, "Honey, 25 years ago, we had a cheap apartment,
a cheap car, slept on a sofa bed and watched a 10 inch black and
white TV, but I got to sleep every night with a hot 25 year old blonde.
Now, we have a nice house, nice car, big bed and plasma screen TV,
but I'm sleeping with a 50 year old woman. It seems to me that you are
not holding up your side of things."

My wife is a very reasonable woman. She told me to go out and find a hot
25 year old blonde, and she would make sure that I would once again be
living in a cheap apartment, driving a cheap car, sleeping on a sofa bed.

CRAPS

Two bored casino dealers are waiting at the craps table. A very
attractive blonde woman from Alabama arrived and bet twenty-thousand
dollars ($20,000)on a single roll of the dice. She said, "I hope you
don't mind, but I feel much luckier when I play topless."

With that, she stripped to the waist; rolled the dice; and yelled,
"Come on, baby... Southern Girl needs new clothes!" As the dice came
to a stop, she jumped up-and-down... and squealed... "YES! YES! I WON!
I WON!"

She hugged each of the dealers... and then picked up her winnings
and
her clothes, and quickly departed. The dealers stared at each other
dumbfounded.

Finally, one of them asked, "What did she roll?"
The other answered, "I don't know... I thought you were watching."

Moral ---
Not all Southerners are stupid.
Not all blondes are dumb.
But, all men... are men.

Enough, Take care and be happy. Love, Merle.

Dear Merle

I'm glad you are feeling a little brighter.

Life has a habit of sometimes beating us down but happily, most of the time, we bounce back again.

Love the jokes, keep them coming.

Hugs
