Everyone Needs Someone.

October 9th, 2006 Post 36.

Hi There People ~ I hope you have all had a great weekend.

It is Monday night here and the floors are clean, thanks to

my fortnightly helper. The laundry is all done and put away-

thanks to me. I had a couple of other callers too, so today

has just gone. So I am late doing this ~~ what’s new ?

A cousin of mine has sold her house and bought another one

with a month to fill in before she can move into the new home.

So she is coming to spend some time with me in about a week

and I am really looking forward to that and would like her to

spend the whole waiting time with me. Guess she will see how

I treat her !!

I would like to wish my friend Sue a very happy birthday for

the 10th of October. I hope you have a great day Sue. Please

pop over and say Hi to her.

Tonight’s poem is “Everyone Needs Someone.”

People need people and friends need friends

And we all need love for a full life depends

Not on vast riches or grest acclaim,

But just in knowing that someone cares

And holds us close in their thoughts and prayers.

For only the knowledge that we’re understood

Makes everyday living feel wonderfully good,

And we rob ourselves of life’s greatest need

When we “lock up our hearts” and fail to heed

The outstretched hand reaching to find

A kindred spirit whose heart and mind

Are lonely and longing to somehow share

Our joys and sorrows and to make us aware

That life’s completeness and richness depends

On the things we share with our loved ones and friends.

- - - Helen Steiner Rice.

Now for a few jokes - - -

A dumb blonde was standing in front of a soda machine

outside of a local store. After putting in sixty cents, a

root beer pops out of the machine. She set it on the

ground, puts sixty more cents into the machine, and

pushes another button, suddenly a coke comes out.

She continues to do this until a man waiting to use the

machine becomes impatient. “Excuse me, can I get my

soda and then you can go back to whatever stupid thing

you are doing?”

The blonde turns around and says, “Yeah right ! I’m not

giving up this machine while I’m still winning !”

Seriously Funny Quotes about Life - - -

It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve

as a warning to others.

An autobiography is the story of how a man thinks he lived.

The trouble with the rat race is that even if you win you’re

still a rat.

In spite of the cost of living, it’s still popular.

Life doesn’t imitate art, it imitates bad television.

There must be more to life than having everything.

Life is just a phase you’re going through - - you’ll get over it.

Nothing matters very much, and very few things matter at all.

You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is

white, the best golfer black, the tallest guy in the NBA is

Chinese, the Swiss hold the America’s Cup, France is accusing

the US of arrogance and Germany doesn’t want to go to war.

Some famous last words - - -

It’s fireproof.

He’s probably just hibernating.

What does this button do?

It’s probably just a rash.

Are you sure the power is off?

The odds of that happening have to be a million to one.

Pull the pin and count to what?

Which wire was I supposed to cut?

I wonder where the mother bear is?

I’ve seen this done on TV.

These are the good kind of mushrooms.

I’ll hold it and you light the fuse.

Let it down slowly.

It’s strong enough for both of us.

This doesn’t taste right.

I can make this light before it changes.

Nice doggie.

I can do that with my eyes closed.

I’ve done this before.

What duck?

Well, we made it this far.

That’s odd.

Don’t be superstitious.

Now watch this.

Some of those were funny. Now a few quotes - - -

The secret of happiness is not in doing what one likes,

but in liking what one has to do. - - - J. M. Barrie.

There are eight requisites for contented living :

health enough to make work a pleasure,

wealth enough to support your needs,

strength enough to battle with difficulties and

to overcome them,

grace enough to confess your sins and forsake them,

patience enough to toil until some good is accomplished,

charity enough to see some good in your neighbour,

faith enough to make real the things of God,

hope enough to remove all anxious fear regarding the

future,

- - - Johann von Goethe, German writer.

I have decided to stick with love,

Hate is too great a burden to bear.

- - - Martin Luther King Jr.

Enough for tonight. Have a great week folks, Merle.

I'm sure you and your cousin will have a great time of it. One of my cousins used to come from out of town and spend week-ends with me. We sat up half the night reminiscing. What fun it was.
Your quotes sure got my attention. Especially the one about winning the rat race. That's something to ponder!

Hi Merle. All your comments came through so I guess I did something right to enable that to happen!

Love the famous last words, especially "I can do this with my eyes closed." Read my post and you'll understand what I mean.

Have a great time with your cousin. I'm sure you'll be up all night reminiscing.

Love and hugs

A great post Merle. Isn't it a nice feeling to have the house clean - even if (as in my case) it seems to start to get dusty adn dirty again almost straight away.

Good luck with your companion planting. I tried marigolds a few years ago and they were great. They are also such cheerful flowers. There is a great book on called "Companion planting in Australia" by Brenda Little which has lots of good tips. The best I have found is to put chives near my tomatoes.

Have a great week and thanks for the comment on my blog.
