Hands that Rocked the Cradle.

Post 34 Saturday 7th October 2006.

Hello there Folks ~ I hope you are enjoying a pleasant

weekend whatever you are doing and wherever you are.

It has been a nice sunny day here today. Tomorrow I

plan to plant some tomato and capsicum seedlings to

get them started. Also I have a punnet of yellow beans.

They are nice for a change, but always dearer to buy,

so will try to grow them instead. I have broad beans

with beans on them, and lots of flowers on my peas.

It isn’t easy to buy normal peas these days, they are

either snow peas, or snap peas. I like the ones in pods.

Tonight we have “The Hand That Rocked the Cradle.”

Gentle hands that rocked my cradle,

and held me tenderly:

Would prove to be strong enough,

to build a world for me.

A world filled with the beauty,

that only love provides:

And the hands that rocked my cradle

always touched me with such pride.

The hands that rocked my cradle,

were so often raised in prayer,

Asking for God’s mercy:

to keep me in His care.

And I know He saw those praying hands,

for my life’s been very blessed,

By the hands that rocked my cradle,

and nurtured me with tenderness.

While the hands that rocked my cradle

show signs of needing rest,

The support she gives, is just so strong,

as when she held me to her breast.

And I know life has no problems,

that could ever rock my soul,

For the hands that rocked my cradle,

Give strength and love untold. - - - Rinda Nelson.

Jokes coming up - - - -

A wife was making a breakfast of fried eggs for her

husband. Suddenly her husband bursts into the kitchen.

“Careful,” he said, “CAREFUL ! Put in some more butter !

Oh my God. You’re cooking too many at once. TOO MANY.

Turn them NOW.We need more butter, they are going to

STICK. Careful, I said be careful. You never listen to me

when you’re cooking, never. Have you lost your mind?

Don’t forget to salt them. USE THE SALT.”

The wife stared at him.

“What in the world is wrong with you?” she asked. “You

think I don’t know how to fry a couple of eggs ?”

The husband calmly replied : “I wanted to show you what it

feels like when I'm driving."

This bloke and a giraffe go into a bar to have a beer- drinking

contest. After about 15 pots each, the giraffe gets up, staggers around a bit and

collapses on the floor.

The bloke celebrates his win with a couple more pots, then turns around and starts

walking out.

Just as he gets to the door, the barman shouts at him, “Hey

mate, you can’t leave that lying’ there, take him with you.”

The bloke turns around and says to the barman : “It’s not a

lion, it’s a giraffe.”

Worms

A minister decided that a visual demonstration would add emphasis to his

Sunday sermon. Four worms were placed into four separate jars. The first

worm was put into a jar of alcohol. The second worm was put into a jar of

cigarette smoke. The third worm was put into a jar of chocolate syrup. The

fourth worm was put into a jar of good clean soil.

At the conclusion of the

Sermon, the Minister reported the following results:

The first worm in alcohol - Dead.

The second worm in cigarette smoke - Dead.

Third worm in chocolate syrup - Dead.

Fourth worm in good clean soil - Alive.

So the Minister asked the congregation: "What can you learn from this demonstration?"

A little old woman in the back quickly raised her hand and said,”As long

as you drink, smoke, and eat chocolate, you won't have worms!"

A few quotes - - - -

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

- - - - Winston Churchill.

He that gives should never remember: he that receives

should never forget. - - - The Talmud.

Think of someone you admire very much. Write down a

list of the things you admire most about this person.

You have just listed your own good points. Read them

through carefully, and give yourself credit for having

these fine qualities, - - - Anonymous.

For the good are always merry,

Save by evil chance,

And the merry love to fiddle,

And the merry love to dance. - - - W. B. Yeats.

Bye for now my friends, enjoy your Sunday. Merle.

Hi Merle...my son is home from the hospital so my heart is singing that he'll be with us for Thanksgiving:-) I loved the Hand That Rocked The Cradle poem...so very beautiful! We only grow the peas in pods in our veggie garden and I agree with you, they are starting to be hard to find! Hugs xox

Merle, loved the hand that rocked the cradle. I also loved the worm sermon, why are those kind of remarks also from someone in the back...lol

Yesterday, I tried repeatedly to comment to no avail loved them all but was especially tickled with Jones wanted his wife to marry the guy that cheated him out of the horse deal. Also, poor groom, he'll never get the last word in from this day forward...as he sits there in jail...too funny! :)

Hi Merle

Love the anonymous quote about writing down things you like about someone you admire. We all need to do that sometimes.

I have got the hang of quoting through Beta blogger now. I was going through my old blog and of course, that don't work no more!!

Hope you're having a great weekend

Love and hugs, dear friend

Robyn xoxo

The cradle poem was so nice- you had me slightly worried with the title though- it is also the name of a scary film about a not-so-nice nanny. At first l thought it might have been one of your jokes-lol.
The egg joke made me smile and l will have to let my husband hear that one as l too am a back seat driver.
:) Take care of yourself Merle and l am glad you had a nice day- your weather will be turning for the better now- it rained here all yesterday and the day before- hmm. I am way behind with planting my spring bulbs- they'll come up next summer at half the height!
Lots of love,
