Perseverance.

Hello Everyone ~ I hope you have all had a great weekend,

Mine has been OK. Today I planted 4 Tomato plants and 9

seedling marigold plants around them as they are supposed

to keep insects and bugs off the tomatos. Companion plants

or so I have been told. Tomorrow I hope to get the capsicums

in and the bean plants. None of this is very easy for me, a

little at a time. Which fits in with my choice tonight called - -

Perseverance.

When all the world is looming dark

And things seem not so clear,

When shadows seem to hover round

Lord, may I persevere.

When it seems everything’s been tried

And there’s no way to go,

Just let me keep remembering

Sometimes the journey’s slow.

I may just need to stop and rest

Along the path I trod.

A time to try to understand

And have my talk with God.

As I gain new strength to carry on

Without a doubt or fear,

Somehow I know things will be right,

And so, I persevere.

- - - Anne Stortz.

This next piece was sent to me by my friend Tammy.

Thanks Tammy - it’s a good one.

TWENTY DOLLARS.

On their wedding night, the young bride

approached her new husband and asked for

$20.00 for their first lovemaking encounter.

In his highly aroused state, her husband

readily agreed.

This scenario was repeated each time they

made love, for more than 30 years, with him

thinking that it was a cute way for her to

afford new clothes and other incidentals

that she needed.

Arriving home around noon one day, she

was surprised to find her husband in a very

drunken state. During the next few minutes,

he explained that his employer was going

through a process of corporate downsizing,

and he had

been let go. It was unlikely

that, at the age of 59, he'd be able to find

another position that paid anywhere near

what he'd been earning, and therefore, they

were financially ruined.

Calmly, his wife handed him a bank book

which showed more than thirty years of

steady deposits and interest totaling nearly

$1 million. Then she showed him certificates

of deposits issued by the bank which were

worth over $2 million, and informed him

that they were one of the largest depositors

in the bank.

She explained that for the more than three

decades she had "charged" him for sex,

these holdings had multiplied and these

were the results of her savings and

investments.

Faced with evidence of cash and investments

worth over $3 million, her husband was so

astounded he could barely speak, but finally

he found his voice and blurted out, "If I'd

had any idea what you were doing, I would

have given you all my business!"

That's when she shot him.

You know, sometimes, men just don't know

when to keep their mouths shut.

Maybe he was a blonde???

Did you hear about the blonde who took an hour to cook One Minute Oats?

Did you hear about the blonde who got into a taxi, and the driver kept the “Vacant” sign up?

Did you hear about the blonde who thought nitrates were cheaper than day rates?

Did you hear about the blonde who went to a nudist camp to play strip poker?

Did you hear about the blonde who brought her cosmetics with her for a make-up exam?

Did you hear about the blonde who after watching the ballerinas, wondered why they
didn’t get taller girls?

Now a few quotes - - -

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that,

but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great. - - - Mark Twain.

The measure of a truly great man is the courtesy with which he treats

lesser men. - - - Anonymous.

Should we all confess our sins to one another, we would all laugh at one another for our

lack of originality. - - - Kahlil Gibran. Lebanese poet.

We all feel guilty about something. The only positive thing about such feelings is that

they help one to change and to behave better in the future. - - - Anonymous.

The great essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love and

something to hope for. - - - Joseph Addison.

That’s it folks, Take care and enjoy life. Merle.

Hi Merle,

I know what you mean about doing things slowly - I've been doing some very heavy work in the backyard. Decided to take out almost half of what was tangled bush and a huge mound of sand that had to be flattened.

I have found I can dig about 4 spades then stop for a stand-up rest, after about 2 of these, I need a sit-down rest, and after about an hour I need to stop and rest properly.

It's going to be a slow job!

Hi Merle, yes you posted perfectly!

I love Kahlil Gibran's poems, they get right to the heart of things.

I think your blogger is probably the most inspiring - you always have something to make us laugh, cry and think.

Keep it up, my friend

Good job on the tomato plants Merle- l have heard that you can plant them in hanging baskets too, they grow down the way and it helps keep the ground insects off.
Liked the perseverance poem and the story from Tammy- l wondered where it was going and laughed at the end :)
Thank you for the pick-me-up this morning.
((hugs ))
