This and That.

Hi Folks ~ Here we are again with no idea what to post,

but I will find something. At least I have almost got to

most of the kind friends who have left comments. Just a

few more to go. I have a recipe for you that is called - - -

Baked Steak.

2 lb of Steak – Oyster blade, or Rump

1 packet French Onion Soup

425 can Apricot Nectar.

Lay steak flat in baking pan.

Sprinkle soup mix over steak

Then pour Nectar over it.

Bake in covered baking dish, (Use foil if no cover)

Bake for 1 ½ hours.- - in moderate oven.

As you can see, I like simple and easy recipes, not ones

with 27 ingredients !!

A tip for getting kids to eat Silver beet or Spinach

Cook 1 or 2 cooking apples sliced in with it.

I learnt this from my daughter who has 5 children.

I like it with the apple myself.

My friend Robyn from Puss in Boots sent me this - -

One for the Ladies

I am only as strong as the caffeine I drink, the hair spray I use and the girlfriends

I have. Here's to you!

Why do we only have parties for each other when one of us gets married, pregnant,

has a birthday, or retires?

What would most of us do without our sisters, confidants, and shopping, lunching

and travelling girlfriends?
Let's celebrate each other for each other's sake!

If you get this twice or more, you are lucky to have more than one girlfriend.

Someone will always be prettier.

Someone will always be smarter.

Their house will be bigger.

They will drive a better car.

Their children will do better in school.

And their husband will fix more things around the house.

So let it go, Be Happy!
And love yourself and your circumstances.
Think about it.

The prettiest woman in the world can have trouble in her heart.

And the most highly favoured woman on your job may be unable to have children.
And the richest woman you know, she's got the car, the house, the clothes....

might be lonely.
And the word says if "I have not Love, I have nothing."

So, again, love you.
Love who you are.
Look in the mirror in the morning and smile and say

"I am too blessed to be stressed and too anointed to be disappointed!"
I like that!
"Winners make things happen.

Losers let things happen"
Be Blessed ladies and pass this on to encourage another woman.
"To the world you might be one person, But to one person you just might be the world".

A short poem called “A Child Speaks.”

Will people never, never learn

That meadows should be played in ?

How long before they really know

That streams were made to wade in ?

They should be shown, and made to see

That caves were made to talk in,

That trees were really made to climb

And rain is meant to walk in.

Instead, they build their houses tight

As though they’re meant to stay in . . .

Will people never, never learn

The world was meant to play in ?

Joke time - - -

Old Farmer Johnson was dying. The family was standing

around his bed. With a low voice he said to his wife:

“When I am dead I want you to marry Farmer Jones.”

Wife : “No, I can’t marry anyone after you.”

Johnson : “But I want you to.”

Wife : “But why ?”

Johnson : “Jones once cheated me in a horse deal !!”

A police officer in a small town stopped a motorist who

was speeding down Main Street.

“But, officer, the man began, “I can explain.”

“Just be quiet,” snapped the officer. “I’m goind to let

you cool your heels in jail until the chief gets back.”

“But officer, I just wanted to say . . .“

“And I said to keep quiet ! Tou’re going to jail.”

A few hours later the officer looked in on his prisoner and

said, “Lucky for you that the chief’s at his daughter’s

wedding. He will be in a good mood when he gets back.”

“Don’t count on it,” answered the fellow in the cell.

“I’m the groom.”

A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world

has walked out. - - - Walter Winchell.

When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious

privilege it is to be alive --- to breathe, to think, to enjoy,

to love. - - - Marcus Aurelius.

Bye for now, Take care my friends and be happy. Merle.

Your baked steak recipe sounds interesting. The recipe reminded me of one my aunt used to do. I cut up chicken, a small can of pineapple tidbits and a small bottle of russian salad dressing. Put the chicken pieces in a baking dish, pour pineapple over top, drizzle with dressing and bake about an hour. My family were very fond of it.

The steak recipe sounds good for bachelors. Just cut it to a quarter.
We don't have Oyster Blades here, just plain blade roasts. I see from a Google search it is an Australian thing. I don't know what we call that cut.
May I call on you when I have nothing to post. Yours was inspirational today. Thanks.

I googled it too and I bet you could substitute flank steak or any of the less expensive cuts.

I'm borrowing it and I'd like to send it along to my friend for her five ingredient Friday posts.

I'll send you tht link to her blog. It's neat.
