Name that Christmas Carol.

Post 94 - - - - - Friday, 15 December 2006.

Hello Everyone ~~ I hope all is well with you and things
going smoothly in the lead up to Christmas. I am fine,
and waiting for Geoff and Joanne to arrive.

Thanks for your comments, as I won’t get to them tonight.
Sorry about blogger still creating problems.

My brother has corrected me AGAIN about our Dad having
several hundred race horses – as he did over the years.
He even
had some winners in Country Queensland and really
loved his horses. He leased them out to various trainers, but
always had some at his farm. Mainly mares and foals.

Now for me to add to his post about Black Friday yesterday.
I was 5 years old and vaguely remember the fires. We had a
concrete well with goldfish in it. Mum wanted us to go down
into the well on a ladder, until the fire passed. Dad thought
we may get boiled alive. Who knows??

Anyway, instead we all walked to a neighbour’s farm that had
lots of green trees and water around and we spent the time
there
until the fire passed. My half brother Jack hung his
dressing gown
on a tree, as it was hot. He was sick and
passed away in 1940.

I cannot remember if the gown burnt or not – but I think not.

One neighbour across the road from us lost his house, and
also
some friends a little way away over a hill. I can
remember seeing
both my parents belting out spot fires
with wet wheat bags.
I guess we had to be with them for
safety, but it was scary for us,
and hard work for them.

The fires here are still burning and changing direction with
the wind and merging together. “They” say only the sea
will stop the ones down that way. The others are quite
near where I went to a cousin’s funeral recently. All the
roads we went on have all been burnt. Also quite a lot of
houses, which must be so heart-breaking for the people
and I heard one woman fire-fighter say that Christmas
is very much in the background.

The governments are promising help, so I hope that is
one promise they will keep.

The next item is a clever play on words and was sent to
me by our friend Tammy. Thank you Tammy for all the
goodies you send by email.

A Woman’s poem.

He didn’t like the casserole
And he didn’t like my cake.
He said my biscuits were too hard
Not like his mother used to make.
I didn’t perk the coffee right
He didn’t like the stew,
I didn’t mend his socks
The way his mother used to do.
I pondered for an answer
I was looking for a clue.
So I turned around and smacked the hell out of him
Like his mother used to do.

A Russian couple are discussing the weather.

Anna, the wife, said : “It’s snowing quite heavily today.”

Her husband Rudolph, replied : “It’s raining.”

Anna said : “No, it’s snowing,” to which Rudolph again
insisted it was rain.

Anna becoming quite exasperated with her husband, said :

“It is quite clear that it is snowing, why on earth are you
insisting that it is rain ?”

Her husband replied : “ Rudolph the red knows rain, dear.”

Well I will leave it at that tonight. Take care my friends,
Look after each other and yourselves. Enjoy the weekend,
that is almost here in
Australia. Cheer, Merle.

Hi Merle

I'm baaaack! Actually I haven't been anywhere, just busy with work. Everybody wants their stuff done before Christmas.

I'm so pleased the bushfires aren't affecting you. My heart bleeds for those in Victoria and Tassie who have lost so much. And now it is said that the latest lot were started deliberately by a couple of teenagers who were seen leaving the scene on a motorbike.
Scumbags that they are, however I won't vent on your blog.

Hope all is well with you, dear Merle.

Love and hugs

Robyn xoxo

Glad you're okay.

I didn't realize you'd give the answers so soon to the songs or I wouldn't have scrolled down. I got a bunch of them before I did though.

Dearest Merle...gosh, that must have been so scary to have to find a place to stay while the fires passed by! We've been hearing on our news about what's going on over there and it really is heartbreaking, especially at this time of year. As you said, hopefully the government will come through for those people!! I so enjoyed A Woman's Poem...that is just too hilarious!! Of course I enjoyed everything else you posted too:-) Have a wonderful weekend dear Merle!! Hugs xoxo

Hi Merle, I did a bit of editing for you.
When you get stuff in an email highlight what you want to use then copy it to a word document (ctrl c) set the font and type size you want in Word, then paste it to your blog compose window (ctrl v) it's also much easier to make any changes you want to in word.
