SO This Is Christmas.

Post 88 - - - - Saturday, 9 th December, 2006.

Hello Everyone ~ It has been very hot today and tomorrow

promises to be hotter, and the worst day for the fires. So

we hope that the change comes early and brings heaps of

rain. I am safe here I think, but I have a lot of relatives

and friends who live near where the fires are. All OK so far.

I hope you have all been enjoying the start of the weekend.

My heart goes out to Ann of RocRebelGranny as her daughter,

Carol is very ill with cancer and things are not looking good.

Hang in there Ann, we love you.

The next item should have been posted yesterday, as it was

the anniversary of John Lennon’s death. It is my favorite

Christmas song, and his sentiments about War being over

is what we all would like.

So This is Christmas .

(Peace on Earth)

So this is Christmas
and what have you done
another year over
a new one just begun

and so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
the near and the dear ones
the old and the young
a very Merry Christmas
and a Happy New Year
let's hope it's a good one
without any fear

and so this is Christmas (war is over...)
for weak and for strong (...if you want it)
the rich and the poor ones
the road is so long

and so happy Christmas
for black and for white
for the yellow and red ones
let's stop all the fight

a very Merry Christmas
and a Happy New Year
lets hope it's a good one
without any fear

so this is Christmas
and what have you done

war is over - if you want it
war is over - if you want it
war is over - if you want it
war is over - if you want it

So this is Christmas
and what have you done
another year over
a new one just begun

and so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
the near and the dear ones
the old and the young
a very Merry Christmas
and a Happy New Year
let's hope it's a good one
without any fear

John Lennon

Now for some jokes - - -

A young man agreed to baby-sit one night so a single mother

could have an evening out. At bedtime he sent the youngsters

upstairs to bed, and settled down to watch football.

One child kept creeping down the stairs, but the young man kept sending him back to bed..

At 9 pm the doorbell rang, it was the next-door neighbor, Mrs.

Brown asking whether her son was there. The young man brusquely replied, “No.”

Just then a little head appeared over the bannister and shouted, “I’m here Mom, but he won’t let me go home.”

<><><><>

A couple was going out for the evening. The last thing they did was to put the cat out. The taxi arrived, and as the couple walked out of the house, the cat shoots back in. So the husband goes back inside to chase it out.

The wife not wanting it known that the house would be empty,

explained to the taxi driver. “He’s just going upstairs to say

goodbye to my Mother.”

A few minutes later, the husband got in the taxi and said, “Sorry I took so long, the stupid thing was hiding under the bed and I had to poke her with a coat hanger to get her to come out.”

<><><><>

Old Fred had been a religious man who was in the hospital, near death. The family called their preacher to stand with them.

As the preacher stood next to the bed, Old Fred’s condition appeared to deteriorate and he motioned frantically for something to write on.

The pastor lovingly handed him a pen and a piece of paper, and

Old Fred used his last bit of energy to scribble a note, then he died. The preacher thought it best not to look at the note at that time, so he placed it in his pocket.

At the funeral, as he was finishing his message, he realised that he was wearing the same jacket that he was wearing when

Old Fred died.

He said, “You know, Old Fred handed me a note just before he died. I haven’t looked at it, but knowing Old Fred, I’m sure there’s a word of inspiration there for us all.

He opened the note and read out loud, “Hey, you’re standing on my oxygen tube !!”

A string walks into a bar and asks for a shot of tequilla. The bartender replies, “Sorry, we don’t serve strings.” So the string left.

The next day, the same string walks back into the bar. He asks

for a shot of tequilla. The bartender says, “Sorry, we don’t

serve strings, so go away.”

The following day the string stands outside the bar debating about whether to go in or not. He ties himself in a knot and frays the bottom of the string.

He goes in and asks for a shot of tequilla. The bartender asks, “Hey, aren’t you that string that’s been coming in here all the time.

The string replies, “ No, I’m a freyed knot.”

<><><><>

Two kids are talking to each other. One says, “I’m really worried. My Dad works twelve hours a day to gve me a nice home and good food. My Mom spends the whole day cleaning and cooking for me. I’m worried sick.”

The other kid says, “ What have you got to worry about ? Sounds to me like you’ve got it made.”

The first kid says, “ What if they try to escape ?”

Dearest Merle..."War Is Over" has always been one of my favourite Christmas songs and it certainly was a sad day the day we lost John Lennon. He was one of the few who really cared what happened with the world! My prayers are with Ann and her daughter...such a hard time for them. Loved the jokes, especially the one about "her hiding under the bed and having to poke her". LOL I finished my shopping today...yippee!!! Much love xoxo
