Going to Bed.

Post 164 - - - - - - Tuesday, 13 th March, 2007.

Hello my friends ~~ These days do slip by so quickly don't they? I hope you are all well and having a good week. I feel better than I did last week, so am glad about that.
My Home Care lady came today and so the floors etc are all nice and clean. Nice fresh
sheets on my bed. I buy satin sheets, not to be flash, but to help me turn over in bed at night. That was the hint of the day !!

Tonight's item is called "Going to Bed." And the ladies know it's too true !!

Mom and Dad were watching T V when Mom said, "I'm tired, and it's getting late, so
I think I will go to bed."

She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's lunches, rinsed out
the popcorn bowls, took meat out of the freezer for supper the following evening, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the
table and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning.

She then put some wet clothes into the dryer, put a load of clothes into the wash, ironed a shirt and secured a loose button. She picked up the newspapers strewn on the floor, picked up the game pieces left on the table and put the telephone book back in the drawer. She watered the plants, emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel to dry.

She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom. She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher, counted out some cash for the field trip, and pulled a
textbook out from hiding under a chair. She signed a birthday card for a friend, addressed and stamped the envelope and wrote a quick note for the grocery store. She put both near her purse.

Mom then washed her face, put on a moisturizer, brushed and flossed her teeth and
trimmed her nails. Hubby called, "I thought you were going to bed."

"I'm on my way," she said.

She put some water into the dog's dish and put the cat outside, then made sure the doors were locked. She looked in on each of the kids and turned out a bedside lamp, hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks in the hamper, and had a brief conversation with the one still up doing homework.

In the bedroom, she set the alarm, laid out clothing for the next day, straightened up the shoe rack. She added three things to her list of things to do for tomorrow.

About that time, hubby turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular,
"I'm goingto bed," and he did.

Now to get even girls !!

Sometime after Sidney died, his widow, Rachel, was finally able to speak about what
a thoughtful, considerate, and wonderful man her late husband had been.

"My Sidney thought of everything," she told them. "Just before he died, he called me
to his bedside. He handed me three envelopes. 'Rachel' he told me. 'I have put all my last wishes in these three envelopes. After I am gone, please open them and do exactly as I have instructed. Knowing you'll do this, I can rest in peace.' "

"What was in the envelopes?" her friends asked.

"The first envelope contained $5,000 with a note. 'Please use this money to buy a nice casket.' So I bought a beautiful mahogany casket with such a comfortable lining
that I know Sidney is resting comfortably.

The second envelope contained $10,000 with a note. 'Please use this for a nice funeral.' I made Sidney a very dignified funeral and bought all his favorite foods."

"And the third envelope ?" asked her friends.

"The third envelope contained $25,000 with a note. 'Please use this to buy a nice stone.'

At that point, Rachel held up her hand and pointed to her ring finger, on which was a gorgeous ten carat diamond ring.

"So ?" said Rachel, "You like my stone ?"

An elderly gentleman passed his granddaughter's room one night and overheard her
repeating the alphabet in an oddly reverent way.
"What on earth are you up to ?" e asked.
"I'm saying my prayers," explained the little girl.
"But I can't think of exactly the right words tonight, so I'm just saying all the letters.
God will put them together for me, because He knows what I'm thinking."

A man was driving to work when a truck ran a stop sign, hit his car broadside, and
knocked him cold. Passersby pulled him from the wreck and revived him. He began
a terrific struggle and had to be tranquilized by the medics.

Later, when he was calm, they asked him why he struggled so. He said, " I remember
the impact, then nothing. I woke up on a concrete slab in front of a huge flashing
'Shell' sign . . . . and somebody was standing in front of the 'S' !!

I was sitting in the waiting room of the hospital after my wife had gone into labour and the nurse walked out and said to the man sitting next to me, "Congratulations,
sir, you're the new father of twins !"
The man replied, "How about that, I work for Doublemint Chewing Gum Company." He followed the nurse to his wife's room.

About an hour later, the same nurse entered the waiting room and announced that
Mr. Smith's wife has just had triplets. Mr Smith stood up and said, "Well, how do you
like that, I work for the 3M Company."

The gentleman who was sitting next to me then got up and started to leave. When I
asked him why he was leaving, he remarked, "I think I need a breath of fresh air."
The man continued, "I work for 7-UP."

Hi Merle! Ohhhh, satin sheets sound lovely. I wear satin jammies when I sleep so it's easier to turn over. I cannot stand anything on my legs though; I get too tangled up. I'm glad you're feeling better too.

Thanks for the giggles and quotes; I needed them this morning.

Have a wonderful day and take care, sweet lady.
Love & hugs,
Karen

Merle, I'm glad you're feeling better. Your posts stay good even when you're not feeling up to snuff.
Your "Going to Bed" story has the roles reversed for our house. I always have some things to do after I announce.

So glad you are feeling better, it usually helps our feelings when we have clean floors and sheets. The one about the little girl praying the alphabet was really a good one. ec
