Just Push.

Post 174 - - - - - - Sunday, 25 th March, 2007.

Hi Everyone ~~ I hope all is well with you and your loved ones and you are having
or have had a great weekend. I have had a quiet one, but have been catching up
on some reading and visiting. We had to put our clocks back one hour last night
as Daylight Saving is over for the next few months. That meant we had an extra
hour's sleep in this morning, which was great. Then I cooked a leg of lamb with a
lot of roast vegetables etc. So I am all set up with some meals in the freezer again.

I would like to thank EmBee for the comments you left. And of course I am happy
for you to use the "Should be in all Schools" item, and any others that I post. I am
more than happy to share and pass the info or the love around. Thank you for your
kind words EmBee.

The story tonight is called "Just Push." It was sent to me by my old friend or
my friend of long standing. Thank you Barbara.

A man was sleeping at night in his cabin when suddenly his room was filled with
light, and God appeared.

The Lord told the man he had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in
front of his cabin. The Lord explained that the man was to push against the rock
with all his might.

So, this the man did, day after day. For many years he toiled from sun-up to sun-
down, his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all his might.

Each night the man returned to his cabin sore and worn out, feeling that his whole
day had been spent in vain.

Since the man was showing discouragement, the Adversary (Satan) decided to enter
the picture by placing thoughts into the weary mind : "You have been pushing against that rock for a long time, and it hasn't moved."

Thus, he gave the man the impression that the task was impossible and that he was
a failure. These thoughts discouraged and disheartened the man. Satan said "Why
kill yourself over this? Just put in your time, giving just the minimum effort; and
that will be good enough."

That's what the weary man planned to do, but decided to make it a matter of prayer
and to take his troubled thoughts to the Lord.

"Lord," he said, " I have labored long and hard in your service, putting all my strength
to do that which you have asked. Yet after all this time, I have not budged that rock by half a millimeter. What is wrong? Why am I failing?"

The Lord responded compassionately, "My friend, when I asked you to serve me and
you accepted, I told yo that your task was to push against the rock with all your
strength, which you have done. Never once did I mention to you that I expected you
to move it. . . . . . . . . . . Your task was to push.

And now you come to Me with your strength spent, thinking that you have failed.
But, is that really so? Look at yourself. Your arms are strong and muscled, your back sinewy and brown; your hands are callused from constant pressure, your legs have become massive and hard.

Through opposition you have grown much, and your abilities now surpass that which you used to have. True, you haven't moved the rock. But your calling was to be
obedient and to push and to exercise your faith and trust in My wisdom. That you
have done. Now, I my friend, will move the rock."

At times, when we hear a word from God, we tend to use our own intellect to decipher what He wants, when actually what God wants is just a simple obedience and Faith in Him. By all means, exercise the faith that moves mountains, but know that it is still God who moves mountains.

The first joke was sent by my friend Tammy who got it from msgreenthumb

Mildred, 93, was despondent over the recent death of her husband Earl, so she
decided to just kill herself and join him in death.

Thinking it would be best to get it over with quickly, she she took out Earl's old
Army pistol and made the decision to shoot herself in the heart, since it was so badly
broken already.

Not wanting to miss the vital organ and become a vegetable and a burden to someone
she called her doctor's office to learn her heart's exact location.

"Since you're a woman," the doctor said, "your heart is just below your left breast.
Why do you ask?" She hung up without answering.

Later that night, Mildred was admitted to hospital with a gunshot wound to her knee.

Honeymoon's Over !!

A young couple got married and went on their honeymoon. When they got back,
the bride immediately called her mother. "Well," siad her mother, "so how was the
honeymoon?"

"Mama," she replied, "the honeymoon was wonderful -- so romantic ! But ......"
Suddenly she burst out crying. "Mama. as soon as we returned, Sam started using
the most horrible language -- things I'd never heard before. I mean those awful
4 - letter words! You've got to come and get me and take me home. . . PLEASE MAMA!

"Sarah, Sarah," her mother said, calm down ! Tell me, what could be so awful?"
WHAT 4-letter words?"

"Please don't make me tell you, Mama," wept the daughter, "I'm so embarrassed - - -
they're just too awful ! COME GET ME, PLEASE !!"

"Darling baby, you must tell me what has you so upset. I'm your mother -- tell me
these horrible 4-letter words !"

Still sobbing, the bride said, "Oh, Mama . . . words like : Wash, Iron, Dust , Cook..."

Great to hear you had a relaxing weekend, Merle...and I love the sound of that roast lamb...I adore a roasted leg of lamb with mint sauce and all the trimmings. I roasted a piece of shoulder pork for myself over the weekend. And still I have some left-overs which I think I'll turn into a curry in a little while.

Take care.

Hello Merle. I can understand your relief that Peter arrived home safely. He's travelled a lot of kilometres.

Love those four letter words...not. I can understand the new bride's horror. I would react in exactly the same way today.

Have a lovely week, Merle.

Love and hugs xoxo
