Now Can We Play Daddy?

Post 170 - - - - - Tuesday, 20 th March, 2007.

Hi Everyone ~~ I hope all is well at your place and life is being kind to you, I am fine, had my usual shopping trip this morning and all stored away in the appropriate places.I had a phone from Peter from Mildura about 9 am and he said he would be about 5 hours from here. BUT it has been raining, which is wonderful, about an inch so far, so that may have slowed Peter up a bit. Anyway, it won't be long now.

My "Nice" little story is short and called " Now can we play Daddy?"

After another late night at the office, Daddy came to his little son's room just as
Johnny was getting into bed. Johnny asked, "Daddy how much do you get paid an hour?" His Daddy replied, "I make $20 an hour . . . . . why do you ask Johnny ?"

There was silence and then he asked, "Daddy, could you give me $10?" As Daddy
handed him the $10 he asked Johnny what the money was for.

Johnny excitedly replied, "Thanks Daddy . . . . now I have enough money to pay
for a half hour of your time, so can you play with me?"

Our friend Warren sent me this next piece. Thanks Warren.

Julie Andrews recently turned 69 years of age. To commemorate her 69th birthday
on October 1st, actress/vocalist Julie made a special appearance at Manhattan's
Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP. There she performed, "My
Favorite Things" from the legendary movie "Sond of Music."

Here are the lyrics she used:

Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in strings
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts and hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses.
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak,
When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pains, confused brains, and no fear of sinnin'
Thin bones, and fractures and hair that is thinnin'
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache,
When the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.

(Ms Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd that lasted over four
minutes, and had several encores.)

When Hallmark Writers Have a Bad Day. Some of these are fun.

My tire was thumping,
I thought it was flat.
When I looked at the tire,
I noticed your cat ! Sorry!

Heard your wife left you;
How upset you must be.
But don't fret about it . . .
She moved in with me.

Looking back over the years
That we've been together,
I can't help but wonder . . .
What was I thinking ??!!

Congratulations on your wedding day!
(Too bad no one likes your spouse.)

How could two people as beautiful as you ...
Have such an ugly baby ???

I've always wanted to have someone to hold, someone to love.
After having met you, I've changed my mind.

I must admit, you brought religion into my life . . . .
I never believed in Hell till I met you.

Congratulations on your promotion!
Before you go . . .
Would you like to take this knife out of my back?
You'll probably need it again.

Someday I hope to get married . . .
But not to you.

Happy Birthday!
You look great for your age . . .
Almost lifelike !

When we were together,
You always said you'd die for me.
Now that we've broken up,
I think it's time you kept your promise.

I knew the day would come when you would leave me for my
best friend. So here's his leash, water bowl and chew toys.

Congratulations on your new bundle of joy!
(Did you ever find out who the father was?)

I'm so miserable without you.
It's almost like you're here.

You are such a good friend that if ever we were
on a sinking ship and there was only one life jacket . . . .
I'd miss you terribly and think of you often.

We have been friends for a long time . . .
What do you say we call it quits?

Finally, one that Raggedy sent a while back - - - Thanks Raggedy.

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord , my shape to keep.

Please no wrinkles, please no bags
And please lift my butt befor it sags.

Please no age spots, please no gray
And as for my belly, please take it away.

Please keep me healthy, please keep me young
And thanl you Dear Lord for all that you've done.

Hi Merle. I've finally surfaced and am getting through all my post reading and catching up with everyone.

I love the song by Julie Andrews and the prayer from Raggedy. I can truly relate to both.

Hope this finds you bright eyed and bushytailed, Merle.

Love and hugs xoxo

Gidday Merle,
Now, watch out with Peter.
You know what he's like...wants to stay up to all hours of the morning.
When you wanna go to bed just go as he won't notice especially if he's blogging, and when you get up in the morning he'll think you've been there all the time (I might be stretching the truth a smidgen here, but it's hard to tell sometimes).
Hava great visit with your brother.

My favorit was the Hallmark cards funny LOL!

a little bird fell out of it's nest and my heart went out to it. unfortunitly so did my cat.
