Purple Hats.

Post 154 - - - - Thursday, 1st March, 2007.
Hi Everyone ~~ I hope you are all OK and not too hot or too cold. It is reasonable here at
present, certainly not too cold, but bearable. I was happy to hear that my brother, Peter got
to his daughter, Vicki's farm in South Australia. He sure drove a lot ol miles the first day.
Happily, when he goes to Western Australia for the second wedding, his son, Marcus is going
with him and will help with the driving.

I suppose a lot of you have heard of the Australian lady aged 107 has started a blob, (as she chooses to call it) with a friend who types it for her. She is amazing, and must have a wealth
of stories she could tell us. Her name is Olive Riley, if you care to look in on her. She has had an amazing lot of comments from all over the world.

I have had fun earlier this evening trying to post comments, and several have WV but with no letters showing, which makes it impossible. Will try again tomorrow.

Tonight I have an article from my friend Raggedy called "Purpe Hats."
Thank you Raggedy.

In honor of women's history month and in memory of Erma Bombeck who lost her fight with cancer. Written by Erma after she found out she was dying from cancer.

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER.

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go
into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.

I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

I would have talked less and listened more.

I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the
sofa faded.

I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.

I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.

I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.

I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.

I would have sat on the lawn with my grass stains.

I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.

I would have never bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me as the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner." There would have been more "I love you's" and more
"I'm sorry's"

But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute . . . look at it and really see it . . .live it and never give it back. Stop sweating the small stuff.

Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what.

Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us.

Let's think about what God has blessed us with. And what we are doing each day to promote ourselves mentally, physically, emotionally.
I hope you all have a blessed day.

I remember Erma Bombeck used to write for an Australian Women's
magazine and was a very funny lady. I think maybe we should all relish the time
we have on Earth and enjoy every moment. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Next two jokes were sent to me by my friend Robyn Thanks Robyn.

"Hello, is this the police?"
"Yes it is. How can we help you?"
"i'm calling to report my neighbour, Rangi. He's hiding cocaine inside his firewood."
"Thank you very much for the call."

Early next morning, police officers descend on Rangi's house in great numbers.
They search the house and then go out to the shed where the firewood is kept.

Using axes, they bust open every piece of firewood, but found no cocaine. They
swear at Rangi and leave. The phone rings at Rangi's house.

"Hey, Rangi. Did the cops come?" "Yeah."
"Did they chop up your firewood:" "Yeah."
"Happy Birthday bro !"

Once upon a time there lived a king. The king had a beautiful daughter, the PRINCESS. But there was a problem. Everything the princess touched would melt.
No matter what; metal, wood, stone, anything she touched would melt.

Because of this, men were afraid of her. Nobody would dare to marry her.
The king despaired. What could he do to help his daughter?

He consulted his wizards and magicians. One wizard told the king, "If your daughter touches one thing that does not melt in her hands, she will be cured."

The king was overjoyed and came up with a plan. The next day, he held a competition. Any man that could bring his daughter an object that would not melt would marry her and inherit the king's wealth.
THREE YOUNG PRINCES TOOK UP THE CHALLENGE.

The first brought a sword of the finest steel. But alas, when the princess touched it, it melted. The prince went away sadly.

The second prince brought diamonds. He thought diamonds are the hardest substance in the world and would not melt. But alas, once the princess touched them, they melted. He too was sent away disappointed.

The third prince approached. He told the princess, "Put your hand in my pocket and feel what is in there." The princess did as she was told, though she blushed.

She felt something hard. She held it in her hand. And it did not melt !!!
The king was overjoyed. Everyone in the kingdom was overjoyed.
And the third prince married the princess and they both lived happily ever after.

Question : What was in the prince's pants?

M&M s of course. They melt in your mouth, not in your hand !!
What were you thinking ??

A motorist locked himself out of his car and a passer-by stopped to help.

"I'll have your door open in no time," said the stranger, who then began rubbing his bottom up and down on the driver's door.

The motorist found this very odd, but before he could comment, all the locks sprang open. "How amazing," cried the driver. "How did you do that?"

"Easy," replied the stranger. "I'm wearing khaki trousers !!" (car key)

A boy who was witness to a crime was called to testify in court. He was approached
by the defense attorney who asked, "Did anyone tell you what to say in court?"

"Yes , sir, " answered the boy. "I thought so," said the attorney. "Who was it?"
"My father, sir." "And what did he tell you?" asked the attorney accusingly.

"He said that the lawyers would try to get me all tangled up, but if I told the truth,
everything would be all right."

Unique Breakfast.

A man observed a sign in the window of a restaurant that read "Unique Breakfast
so he walked in and sat down. The waitress brought him his coffee and asked what
he wanted. "What's your Unique Breakfast?" he asked.

"Baked tongue of chicken,: she proudly replied.
"Baked tongue of chicken? Baked tongue of chicken ! Do you have any idea how
disgusting that is? I would never consider eating anything that came out of a
chicken's mouth !" he fumed.

Undaunted, the waitress asked, "What would you like, then."
"Just bring me some scrambled eggs," the man replied.

Hello Merle,
The first part of your post is showing in webdings again..so, as you suggested previously, I copied and pasted it into Word, changed the font, and could then read it.
I see you've been to visit Olive. Isn't she wonderful? And Mike too, as he is giving her the opportunity to tell her stories. Fancy still having such an active mind at 107!! What an inspiration she is.
I loved Irma Bombeck, the explanation of God, and especially the Teacher's Story. As usual I had a good chuckle over your jokes :)
I hope your health problem is solved quickly and that you have a lovely Friday Merle. Happy March!

I did my corned beef just like you told me. It will be done in just a few more hours. I might even take a picture of it before we dig in. Thanks for the recipe. It sure smells good!
I hope your appointment goes well.
Cheers and take care dear friend.

A "blob"! When I read that the first time I thought it was a typo!

Today Meow was complaining she can't comment because word verification is not showing up. I haven't had trouble myself with that this morning, but other times, and on only some blogs, I do. Go figure!

Glad you liked the jokes, Merle. A blob, eh? I shall have to go and visit that one - 107, whew! I don't know what I'd do if I lived that long...that's 45 years away! Not sure if I would still have all my marbles by then, either...lol!

Glad Peter's arrived safe and sound and thanks to Raggedy for taking the time to decipher the wingdings for us.

Enjoy your weekend.

Hugs xoxo

Merle, I just loved Erma Bombeck's wise words of wisdom. When faced with immortality it seems we all grasp on the the idea of not sweating the small stuff. Life is so precious!

Glad your brother made it okay and that his son will be able to help with the driving.

Love the one about not eating anything that comes out of a chicken's mouth...now I just have to clear my mind and think of pleasant thoughts! hehe!

Raggedy didn't tell us what words were in purple?
You knew it would do that to get the purple hats, didn't you?
I'll check out that Olive Riley blob.
Lastly, it would be hard for a human to act like a tree, I couldn't.
Well, yes on our cruise boat ride from Moscow, Russia, last fall we had a lady named Margaret (an Aussie too) who played the part of a tree in a skit we did.

Thanks for directing us to Olive. It's wonderful she is blogging.

Good to see Peter will have company during his drive across to Perth. He's keeping up with his blogging, too...which is very commendable.
