Chores.

Post 209 - - - - - - Monday, 21st May, 2007.

Hi Everyone ~~ At last I have the new modem and it all works.
Not before time either, as it was getting beyond a joke. So all
is well on the computer front and that is a relief to me.

I hope the week is starting well for all my friends. It is starting
to get quite cold down here with heater going and warm clothes.
Winter starts on 1st June, so must expect it. Don't have to like it!

My story tonight is called "Chores." Don't we just love them?

Sunday -- Cooking Day : Help me, my Savior, to start the week
brewing a big kettle of brotherly love and serve it with the clean,
sweet bread of human kindness.

Monday -- Wash Day : Lord. help me to wash away all my vanity
and selfishness, so I may serve you with perfect humility through
the week ahead.

Tuesday -- Ironing Day : Dear Lord, help me to iron out all the
wrinkles of prejudice I have collected through the years so that I
may see the beauty in others.

Wednesday -- Mending Day : O God, help me to mend my ways
so I will not set a bad example for others.

Thursday -- Cleaning Day : Lord Jesus, help me to dust out all the
many faults I have been hiding in the secret corners of my heart.

Friday -- Shopping Day : O God, give me the grace to shop wisely so
I may purchase eternal happiness for myself and all others in need
of love.

Saturday -- Sabbath Day : Help me, my Savior, to rest in You and
lay aside all of the previous week of failures, missed opportunities,
and mistakes. Your grace is sufficient.

YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS !!!!!!!

All these examples do NOT imply that gasoline is cheap. It just
illustrates how outrageous some prices are . . . . ..
The last one is a shocker !!!!!!

Compared with gasoline. . . . Think a gallon of gas is expensive ?

Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 = $10.32 per gallon.

Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 = $ 9.52 per gallon

Gatorade
20 0z $1.59 = $10.17 per gallon

Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 = $10.00 per gallon

Brake Fluid 12 oz
$3.15 = $33.60 per gallon

Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 = $178.13 per gallon

Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 = $ 123.20 per gallon

Whiteout 7oz $1.39
= $25.42 per gallon

Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 = $84.48 per gallon

And this is the REAL KICKER . . .

Evian Water 9 oz $1.49 = $21.19 per gallon.
$21.19 for WATER and the buyers don't even know the source.
(Evian spelled backwards is Naive.)

Ever wonder why printers are so cheap ?
So they have you locked for the ink.
Someone calculated the cost of ink at . . . .
you won't believe it . . . . . . ..
but it is true . . . . . . . . . . .
$5,200 a gallon !!!!!

So next time you're at the pump,
be glad your car doesn't run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, Pepto
Bismol., Nyquil or God forbid, Printer Ink !!!!
Thank you to my friend Sherrill for that info,

Puss in Boots tagged me to reveal 7 random facts about me - - -

1. I don't like fish or any seafood.

2. I don't have any hot drinks. I usually drink Sugar free Apple
and Raspberry cordial and it's a nice drink. Also Juices.

3. I am a breast cancer survivor - 28 years.

4. Three of my four kids are adopted and I love them all equally.

5. I often close one eye to read and type.

midnight. More often than not it is later than that.

their families and their countries and customs.

Probably not many surprises there, but it's done. I prefer not to

My friend Warren sent "Why God Made Mothers. Thanks Warren.

Brilliant Answers given by 2nd grade school children to questions - - -

Why did God make mothers ?
1.. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers ?
1. He used dirt, just like the rest of us.
2. Magic super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mum just the same as he made me. He just
used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything
nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly
use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mum ?
1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's mums do.

What kind of little girl was your mum ?
1. My mum has always been my mum and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be
pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mum need to know about dad before she married him ?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook ? Does he
get drunk on beer ?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year ? Did he say NO to drugs
and YES to chores.

Why did your mum marry your dad ?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And Mum eats
a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma said Mum didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house ?
1. Mum doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because Dad's
such a nut.
2. Mum. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff
under the bed.
3. I guess Mum is, but only because she has a lot more to do.

What's the difference between mums and dads ?
1. Mums work at work and work at home and dads just work at work.
2. Mums know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller and stronger, but mums have all the real power
'cause that's who you go to ask if you want to sleep over at your
friends.
4. Mums have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mum do in her spare time ?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What
would it take to make your mum perfect ?
1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some
kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your Mum, what would it be ?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd
get rid of that.
2. I'd make my Mum smarter. Then she would know it was my
sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back
of her head.

The rules of a friendship are simple and true " Do unto your friends
as you'd have them do.

Friendships are like flowers ---some last a few days, some last much
longer. The best ones will thrive if they're given tender loving care.

Bye for now, folks. Have a great week and enjoy your lives.
Love and best wishes to all. Cheers, Merle.

Evian spelt backwards - that's a good one!

I'm up for a new monitor. Well, I've had it since 2001. Dad bought it for me when LCD screens were new and it cost him $900! So a few weeks ago the AC adaptor started smoking. Turns out you can't get a compatible adaptor any more, but a new monitor will cost ONLY $200 or so. Hmmm...
