Handwriting on the Wall.

Post 206 - - - - - Monday, 14th May, 2007.

Hi Everyone ~~ I hope all is well with you and that the week
ahead will be a good one for you. I am OK, and did some more
cooking today. More Corned beef with heaps of vegetables.

Tomorrow is my shopping day, and we will leave the computer
at the shop and hope for better luck this time. I shouldn't need
a huge list after the last one, but no doubt Woolworths will get
quite a nice bit of cash from me. They usually do !!

I have found a nice poem called "Handwriting on the wall" Enjoy.

A weary mother returned from the store,
Lugging groceries through the kitchen door.
Awaiting her arrival was her 8 year old son,
Anxious to relate what his younger brother had done.

"While I was out playing and Dad was on a call,
T.J. took his crayons and wrote on the wall !
It's on the new paper you just hung in the den.
I told him you'd be mad at having to do it again."

She let out a moan and furrowed her brow,
"Where is your little brother right now ?"
She emptied her arms and with a purposeful stride,
She marched to his closet where he had gone to hide.

She called his full name as she entered his room.
He trembled with fear --he knew that meant doom !
For the next ten minutes, she ranted and raved
About the expensive wallpaper and how she had saved.

Lamenting all the work it would take to repair,
She condemned his actions and total lack of care.
The more she scolded, the madder she got,
Then stomped from his room, totally distraught !

She headed for the den to confirm her fears,
When she saw the wall, her eyes flooded with tears,
The message she read pierced her soul with a dart.
It said, "I love you Mommy," surrounded by a heart.

Well, the wallpaper remained, just as she found it,
With an empty picture frame hung to surround it.
A reminder to her, and indeed to all,
Take time to read the handwriting on the wall.

The Wisdom of the Indians.

I've always loved the story of the cowboy who was riding along
and came across an Indian lying flat on the ground with his ear
pressed to the earth. The Indian said, "Wait. Wagon. Two miles
off. Drawn by two horses. One black, the other gray. Four
people on board: man in red flannel shirt, his wife and 2 kids."

The cowboy was very impressed. He said, "It's amazing you
can tell all that just by listening to the earth."

The Indian said, "No. They ran over me thirty minutes ago.
Go after them !!"

A few quick Irish jokes - - -

Paddy and Murphy were walking down the road one day, when
Paddy said to Murphy, "Can you see that beautiful wood over
there?" Murphy replied, "I can't see, those trees are in the way."

His wife had been killed in an accident and the police were
questioning Finnegan. "Did she say anything before she died?"
asked the sergeant. "She spoke without interruption for about
forty years," said Finnegan.

When the Irish say that St. Patrick chased the snakes out of
Ireland, what they don't tell you is that he was the only one who
saw any snakes.

Irish Toast :
May you be in Heaven a half-hour before the devil knows you
are dead.

The handwriting on the wall story was precious. And although my baby bearing days are long gone, I could sympathise with the baby jokes.

Hope your computer problems clear up soon.

Hope Carlton can get a win this week... Boy, Jeanette must be tearing her hair out, with the Tigers' start to the season.

He, he that Indian joke must be international, I heard it here too !

I read in your comment on Meows blog that you have a terrific kookaburra ! Since Jeanette introduced me to the kookaburra and even let me hear his laughter I am fascinated by this bird ! It makes me laugh too ! I drove everybody crazy family and visitors included because each time somebody showed up I filled the room with kookaburra's laughter, coming out of my computer ! You should have seen the faces lol ! Nobody wanted to believe that it was such a little bird making such a big noise !! So what is your terrific kookaburra ??? (I am not curious AT ALL !!)
