Story of Sand and Stone.

Post 208 - - - - - Saturday, 19th May, 2007.

Hi Everyone ~~ I hope you are all enjoying your weekend and
that all is well with you and your loved ones. I am OK , and still
waiting on the new modem. If it doesn't come early next week
I will start making more noise about it.

I did have some good news today when I saw the Eye Specialist,
Surgeon as he told me there was no need to operate on cataracts
as the problem is mainly because of ageing eyes, so there is not
too much I can do about that. He said surgery wouldn't improve
my vision, so I keep going with the magnifying glass nearby.

John is heading off early in the morning for a long motorcycle
ride to Coffs Harbour, on the coast in the north of New South
Wales. He has gone for a week, so I have his little doggies here
and we get on very well. John said he's been teaching them to
dig up plants, but they didn't get on the garden last time I had
them. They are both white, female Maltese Terrior and a male
Shit'zu Maltese cross.

My friend Barbara sent me the Story of Sand and Stone. Enjoy.

This is a story about two friends who were walking through a
forest. At one point, they had an argument and one hit the other
in the face.

Te one who was hit was hurt, but without a word he wrote in the
sand : "Today my best friend hit me in the face."

They walked on until they found an oasis where they decided to
have a bath. The one who ad been hit got stuck in the mud and
was drowning, but the friend saved him.

When he came to, he carved in a stone : "Today my best friend
saved my life."

The friend who had hit his best friend and then saved him asked,
"After I hit you, you wrote this in the sand and now you carved
in the stone that I saved you. Why did you do this ?"

The other friend answered, "When someone hurts us we must write
it in the sand where the wind of forgiveness can blow it away.
But if someone does a good deed for us, we have to carve it in stone
where no wind can blow it away."

Learn to write the hurts in the sand and carve the good experiences
in stone.

It is said that it only takes a minute to find extraordinary people, an
hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but it takes a whole life
to forget them. Take the Time to Live !!
Thank you Barbara.

The First Seven Years of Marriage - - - -

1St YEAR : The husband says, "Oh sweetie pie, I'm really worried
about those nasty sniffles you have. There's no telling what that
could turn into
with all that strep going around. I'm going to take
you rght down to the hospital and have you admitted for a couple
of days of rest. I know the food is lousy there, so I'm going to
bring you some takeout from Tosini's. I've already arranged it
with the head nurse."

2ND YEAR : Listen honey, I don't like the sound of that cough.
I called the doc and he's going to stop by here and take a look at
you. Why don't you just go on to the bed and get some rest ?"

3RD YEAR : "Maybe you better go lie down darling. When you
feel lousy you need the rest. I'll bring you something -- do we
have any canned soup around here ?"

4TH YEAR : "No sense wearing yourself out when you're under
the weather. When you finish those dishes and the kid's baths
and get them to bed, you ought to go to bed yourself !!"

5TH YEAR : "Why don't you take a couple of aspirin ?"

6TH YEAR : "You oughta go garle or something instead of sitting
around barking like a dog !!"

7TH YEAR : "For Pete's sake, stop sneezing ! Are you trying to give
me pneumonia ? You'd better pick up some tissues while you're at
the store."

A cat died and went to Heaven. God met her at the gates and said,
"You have been a good cat all these years. Anything you want is
yours for the asking."

The cat thought for a minue and then said, "All my life, I lived on a
farm and slept on hard wooden floors. I would like a really fluffy
pillow to sleep on."

God said, "Say no more." Instantly the cat had a real fluffy pillow.

A few days later, six mice died and went to Heaven together. God
met them at the gates with the same offer He made to the cat.

The mice said, "Well, we had to run all our lives : from cats, dogs,
and even people with brooms. If we could just have some little
roller skates, we would not have to run again."

God answered, "It is done." All the mice had beautiful little roller
skates.

About a week later, God decided to check on the cat. He found her
sound asleep on her fluffy pillow. God gently awakened the cat and
asked, "Is everything okay ? How have you been doing ?
Are you happy ?"

The cat replied, "Oh it is WONDERFUL. I have never been so happy
in my life. The pillow is so fluffy, and those little Meal on Wheels
you have bee sending over are delicious !!"

Hi Merle

Aging is a bugger, isn't it? Have you got a Low Vision Clinic in your area? Not necessarily for now, but later on if your eyes deteriorate too much. They can help you with all sorts of vision aids.

Hope the modem arrives for you tomorrow.

I liked the church notices...very good.

Well, I've been running around like the proverbial headless chook but now I've poured myself a glass of wine and I'm reading and commenting on my blogger friends' blogs.

Have a lovely week (with lots of rain).

Love

Robyn xoxo

Hi, Merle. I have never read the sand/stone story before and I like it. Too bad you don't have photos of the little white dogs!

Hi Merle -- You have the good news and the bad news. Good you aren't needing cataract surgery. Bad, unless we think of the alternative, that you are getting older.
We are getting an early release from our jail and will be home towards the end of the week, at Newark, NJ, tomorrow.

Hi Merle,
Hope they get back to you with that modem soon ... seems they are taking their time !!
Glad you don't need surgery on your eyes ... although my father-in-law had it some years ago, and no longer needed to wear his glasses (he was around 80 at the time).
Hope you have a wonderful week, dear Merle, and hope it rains for your garden !!
Take care, hugs, Meow

Merle,

there are also magnifying "sheets" about A4 size that might be an idea for you to look at. I got one from a newsagent I think.
