Another Quickie !!

Post 269 - - - - - Thursday, 26th July, 2007.

Howdy Everyone ~~ Once again, I am expecting visitors, so will
make this fairly brief. Thanks for the comments on the last post,
may not get to reply until tomorrow. I hope everything is going
well for you all. I am fine, and looking forward to seeing Jo and
Geoff. John also called in today for a while.

As I cannot get to shops as often as I would like, (just as well !!)
I send for quite a few things from Mail Order catalogues, and it
is such fun getting parcels in the mail. Well, yesterday, I got a
solar fairy figure and a butterfly and humming bird for my fairy
garden. All solar powered !! Great, except that it has rained on
and off all day today - just showers, but no sun to speak of !!

A few flowers that I made smaller, but may go back to large
size next time. Always assuming there will be a next time.

First is a close up of the elves on my mushroom ornament. Now in fairy garden.

No.2. I love the large leaves on Elephant's Ears. The frost and extreme heat are
hhard on them, but they grow again.

No.3 Beautifully scented flower on Elephant Ears. When you walk near, you
smell the flowers before you see them.

No. 4. These are off my Fejoa Tree. The fruit is very nice, but I really love
the flowers

Few jokes which I hope you will enjoy.

Farmer Smith has just invented a new device which enables him to
count his cows in the field quickly. He has called his invention a
cowcalator.
<><>

The television company decided to make a program about successful
business executives, so they called five of them into the studio to
talk about their lives and how they managed to be so successful.

The first four executives all told how they had fought to get to the top
--- all four of them marrying their respective boss's daughter. But the
fifth executive had a really hard fight to become successful.

"Life was never easy for me," he explained. "I had to fight for every-
thing and times were extremely difficult -- but I just gritted my teeth,
rolled up my sleeves . . . . and got down to asking Dad to lend me
another $500,000."
<><>

Richard was not very frightened when he saw the ghost and, since
it appeared to be friendly, he asked the ghost if he could try to
photograph it.

The ghost willingly agreed, and Richard went to fetch his camera,
but found the flash attachment on it was broken.

The spirit was willing -- but the flash was weak.
<><>

Mr Smith's wife decided to make an unexpected visit to her
husband's office to check out his new secretary.

"You liar," she hissed to her husband. "You told me that your
new secretary was very efficient and capable but that she looked
like a horrible old hag. But I've just seen her and she's about
18 years old, extremely pretty and . . . . ."

"But, she's not my secretary," interrupted Mr. Smith, who had
been thinking very rapidly. "My secretary is ill today and so she
sent her grand-daughter to help out instead."
<><>

I once went to a jumble sale and bought a very old and large
bureau. While I was cleaning it I must have pressed a secret
button and a large panel in the back of the bureau popped open
and three people fell out, shouting, "Where am I? Where am I?"
That's how I realized I must have bought a missing person's
bureau. Sorry about that one !!
<><>

Sally : "Whenever I see a mirror I can never resist looking into it
for at least a few minutes to admire my flawless complexion.
Do you think that's vanity?"

Samantha : "No. More like imagination."
<><>

A bumper sticker to finish with tonight . . . .

Man who run in front of car get tired.
Man who run behind car get exhausted.

Bye for now my friends, I will get a decent post on soon.
Love and Best Wishes to you all. Cheers, Merle.

Hi Merle! It's nice to see you posting a few pictures of your flowers and things about your house. I wish hydrangeas would grow as beautifully here as they do over there. My mom had some beauties. I've just planted a couple for the first time.
I've just read down through a few of your posts and had some chuckles. Glad you've been enjoying some family visiting. Have fun with your latest company!

Your garden must be pretty. We have Elephant's Ears, all in one clump in a neglected part. I thought they had big purple flowers. I will take a picture next spring.
I like you jokes, they are all excellent today for me. I liked the missing person's bureau one best, ghost picture next, the exhausted man third.

Enjoy your visit. Oh and about the decent post---I'm just wondering what you call this one---if not decent---I sure think it is.

Take care

I am enjoying the photos of your plants in these last two posts, reminding me of what we've had in previous gardens. We used to have a fejoa, and in addition to the lovely fruit, I agree with you, the flowers were the highlight.

Merle, you are becoming quite accomplished at these quickies. Of course, what you term as a "quickie" I call a longie!

Hi Merle,

Hello Merle:-)

It's almost 11:30 pm here and my company just left so I'm making a few blog visits before I get to bed. The little elves are so cute and can just imagine how lovely they look in your faerie garden:-) I have seen pictures of Elephant Ears but have never seen these plants in person...I'm guessing they don't grow here because of our short summer season and very cold winters.

Enjoyed the jokes...groaned at the "spirit was willing but the flash was weak"!! lol

Take care dear friend and enjoy your visitors:-) xoxo

I like this one Merle...Man who run in front of car get tired.
Man who run behind car get exhausted. Right now I think my husband is running behind the car...

I love feijoas...they grow huge in New Zealand and are so tasty and juicy.

I thought that post was decent enough, Merle, as in it wasn't indecent...sorry, couldn't resist that.

Have fun with your visitors...what am I saying? Of course you will.

Hugs xoxo
