Quick Post Tonight.

Post 268 - - - - Wednesday, 25th July, 2007.

Hello Everyone ~~ This will only be a quick post as it is already
late as I have been busy cooking and more washing etc. The
casserole turned out really nice, and now I have Pea and Ham
soup cooking in the crockpot. I hope the world is treating you
well, and the weather about how you like it. We had a warmer
day - 17 C so that was nice. Another few predicted.

My son, Geoff rang earlier and he and Jo are coming up to stay
overnight tomorrow, and then go to get more firewood the next
day. So it will be nice to see them.

A few flowers from my flower photo folder.

This is an unusual Columbine, Aquilegia or Granny Bonnet. It was lovely.

I only had one hydrangea and these all came from it.
I lost it when I got a new back fence erected.

Close look at an agapanthus.

This is a Yucca plant at a cousin's place. Magnificent flowers.

I will just put a few jokes before I get off to bed.

The patient who had just come round after an operation and
was recovering in the ward and heard two other patients talking.
Said one, "Some of these surgeons are a bit forgetful. They left a
swab in one chap and he had to be opened up again to remove it."

"Yes," replied the other, "I heard that, and there was another
patient who had a scalpel left in him."

At that moment the surgeon who had performed the operation on
the new patient popped his head round the door and asked, "Has
anyone seen my hat ?" and the poor chap fainted.

A young man purchased a large grandfather clock from an antique
shop in Brighton. He put the unwrapped clock over his shoulder
and began to look for a taxi. He hailed one approaching from the
right but it ignored him, so, swinging around he tried to flag one
down approaching from the left.

Unfortunately, as he turned round with the clock on his shoulder
struck an old lady on the head and knocked her down.

"Idiot," she shouted, "Why can't you wear a normal wrist-watch
like the rest of us ?"
<><>

I went to the local chemist (drugstore)and asked, " Do you have
any poison that will kill mice ?"
He said, "No, have you tried Boots ?"
I said, " want to poison them, not kick them to death."
<><>

What do you call a crocodile at the North Pole?"
"Lost."
<><>

How do porcupines make love ?
Carefully, very carefully.

A rather nervous woman entered the dentist's surgery.
"I'd rather have a baby than have a tooth out," she said.

"Make up your mind quick," said the dentist, "because
I'll have to adjust the chair."
<><>

It was ten years since William and Derek had left school and
had not met in those ten years.

"How has life treated you since leaving school," asked Derek.
"Oh, I've had my ups and downs. But now I'm doing quite well
as an estate agent. We've got offices in 15 towns and hope to
open a branch in London soon.."
"That sounds good," replied Derek.
"And how have you done since leaving school?" asked William.

"Not so good," said Derek. "You know when I was at school, I
fancied Fiona? Well, I married her, well within 3 months of
marriage she left me for anther man.. Then my second wife ran
off with her girlfriend. The new house I bought by the sea was
a bit too near it -- within a year after buying it the cliff it was on
fell in to the sea, taking the house and all my possessions with it.

And you probably saw I walk with a limp. That's a result of falling
out of my canoe and being crushed against a weir. And today,
didn't start too well, either. My dog was run over and killed by a
bus and my motorcycle was set on fire by some vandals."

"But, if you don't mind me asking," said William, "what do you do
for a living?"
"Oh," said Derek, " I sell good luck charms !!"

Bye for now my friends, Take care of yourselves and each other.
Love and Best Wishes to you all, Cheers, Merle.

Oh, I just love it when I come here and you're cooking. Pea and ham soup! Save some for me.

Those are very pretty flowers too. I have some zinneas and petunias that are doing quite well in my rock garden. But the rocks are doing better, I'm afraid.

Cute jokes. I liked the dentist one best.

Hello dear Merle:-)

There you go cooking again and making me hungry! hehe The flower pictures are so beautiful...I would love to try growing a hydrangea, maybe next year I will plant one! I so love all the colours they come in. I also enjoyed seeing the pictures from yesterday's post...what a shame that the rose globe you had put on your mother's grave got stolen...I always say nothing is sacred anymore.

Loved the jokes...I think Derek needs to sell something else besides good luck charms!! LOL

Take care my friend! xoxo

Great flower photos! I know there are several varieties of yucca but those blooms look very much like the ones that just finished blooming down at the pond behind our house. ec

Hi Merle

Just a quick look in tonight...I've got heaps of people to visit...lol!

Love your flowers, esp the aquilegia...my mum loves those and always has plenty in her garden.

Good jokes, too...as usual. Have a good time with your family.
