You And I.

Post 266 - - - - - Monday, 23rd July, 2007.

Hello Everyone ~~ Another week has begun so I hope it will be a good one
for all of us. We have been promised a few warmer days this week, so I am
looking forward to that.

My grandson, Joh has been and gone, and we had an enjoyable evening, but
after a couple of very late nights with friends, he went off to bed, just after
10 pm. This morning he had some breakfast, and then headed off towards
home as it's a five hour trip and he was seeing another friend on the way.

He has done well with his first solo trip without any trouble. He, like so
many others, is fond of texting his friends !! I don't have a mobile phone.

Start with a few photos of things in my home.

This is a great door stop for me as I don't have to bend down far to
reach it, for days when I can leave the door open. It looks very
much like a cat - the way they back up to things. I like it.

A lovely china hanging plate, a gift from Geoff and Joanne. Love it.

Another buy while Bec was here at a new shop, a porcelain lady with parasol.

A lovely ornament, I bought many years ago of a pair of dancers.
It is an iridescent - cloudy white and quite tall.
On the left is my Hall Stand, and even my walking stick
which lives by the front door. It has a flower on it !!

I have a small poem tonight called "You and I" written by Henry Alford.

We ought to be together --- you and I;

We want each other so, to comprehend
The dream, the hope, things planned,
or seen, or wrought.

Companion, comforter and guide
and friend,
As much as love asks love,
does thought ask thought.

Life is so short, so fast
the lone hours fly.

We ought to be together, you and I.

Jokes tonight, courtesy of my friend Warren. Thanks mate.

One day, Jimmy Jones was walking down Main Street when he saw
his friend Bubba driving a brand new pickup.
Bubba pulled up to him with a wide grin.

"Bubba, where'd you get that truck ?"
"Tammie give it to me." Bubba replied.
"She give it to you ? I knew she was kinda sweet on you, but a new
truck?"

"Well Jimmy Jones, let me tell you what happened.
We was driving out on County Road 6, in the middle of nowhere.
Tammie parked the truck, got out, threw off all her clothes and said,
"Bubba, take whatever you want."

"So I took the truck."
"Bubba, you're a smart man ! Them clothes wouldn't never have fit you."

Two old guys are pushing their carts around K-Mart when they collide.
The first old guy says to the second guy. "Sorry about that. I'm looking
for my wife, and I guess I wasn't paying attention to where I was going."

The second old guy says, "That's OK, it's a coincidence. I'm looking for
my wife too. I can't find her and I'm getting a little desperate."

The first old guy says, "Well, maybe I can help you find her. What does
she look like ?"

The second old guy says, " Well, she's 27 years old, tall with red hair,
blue eyes, long legs and is wearing short shorts. What does your wife look like ?"

To which the first old guy says, "Doesn't matter --- let's go look for yours."

Bob, a handsome dude, walked into a bar around 9:58 PM. He sat down
next to a blonde at the bar and stared up at the TV. The 10:00 PM News
was just coming on. The news crew were covering a story of a man on a
ledge of a large building preparing to jump. The blonde looked at Bob and
said, "Do you think he'll jump ?" Bob says, "You know what, I bet he will
jump. The blonde replied, "Well, I bet he won't."

Bob placed a $20 bill on the bar and said, "You're on !" Just as the blonde
placed her money on the bar, the guy on the ledge did a swan dive off the
building, falling to his death. The blonde was very upset, but willingly
handed her $20 to Bob, saying, "Fair's fair. Here's your money.

Bob replied, " I can't take your money, I saw this earlier on the 5 PM
News and so I knew he would jump.

The blonde replied, " I did too, but I didn't think he'd do it again."
Bob took the money.

Just a few quotes to finish with tonight - - - -

Friends are not only
together when they
are side-by-side,
even one who is far away . . . . .
is still in our thoughts. - - - Ludwig van Beethoven.

Never shall I forget
the days which I spent
with you . . . .
Continue to be my friend,
as you will always
find me yours. - - - - Ludwig van Beethoven.

The memories that
friends have made together
grow stronger
with every passing day. - - - Rebecca J. Barrett.

Every day I live
I discover
more and more
how impossible it is
for me
to live without you. - - - - James Hackman.

Enough for today. I hope you all have a great week ahead and
have some fun every day. Love and Best Wishes to you all.
Cheers for now, Merle.

Hi Merle. How nice to have your grandchildren visiting you.

Like those jokes from Warren, too.

That cat doorstop is a beauty, I haven't seen one like that before and I love the plate you have on your wall.

I hope your weather has warmed up a little, ours has, thank heavens...I hated that awful cold.

Take care and I hope you have a bit of rain...we need it but won't get any now for a few months.

Hugs xoxo

I like your kittie, Merle. Would you believe we had a "cold" front push through today? It is going to be in the low 90's with low humidity.....I wouldn't call it a cold front but our weather man did.

Love that door stop, and as soon as I saw it I thought "how practical, Merle doesn't have to bend down to put it in place". I use my wooden giraffe as a door stop for that very reason too.

Hello dear Merle:-)

I think I really need to go over to your place so that I can admire every lovely item you have in your home! hehe I sure wish it was that easy!! That pink parasol lady figurine is just gorgeous!!! I so enjoyed your pictures in yesterday's post as well...I was thrilled to see the two little ornaments I had sent you:-)

Glad to hear your grandson came for a visit:-) My mother doesn't have a mobile phone either...any of these gadgets terrify the life out of her! lol

Enjoyed reading your stories, jokes and quotes once again...I always know to come here to enjoy myself:-) Take care my friend! xoxo

Glad you had a good visit with Joh. These young ones seem to know all about the new technology. I have a cell phone but I wouldn't know how to text anyone, plus it takes photos but I don't know how - my granddaughter does though. I'm an old dog trying to learn new tricks. :) ec

Hi Merle, I'm glad Joh and you had a nice visit. Did he seem pretty excited about the service?
Your blonde joke is a classic!
That nice cat for a door stop, you can just pick him up by the tail, can't you?
I use a pig for a door stop, I move him around with my foot. He doesn't get picked up and I don't bend over.
