Directions For Living.

Post 285 - - - - - - Monday, 13th August, 2007.

Hi Everyone ~~ I hope the week has started well for all of you.
Things here are OK, although I am late starting, because I did
some other jobs today, and have a piece of corned beef on
cooking in the crockpot. I will do lots of vegetables in the
morning. Better get on with it.

A lovely tree, Peter and I found at Myrtleford on our way to Mt. Beauty
where we went to visit a cousin and his family. Peter took the photo.

Me at my favorite place, playing with my old laptop.

My grand-daughter Kate, and daughter Kathy and a mare and foal.

Tonight I have "Directions for Living." Hope you enjoy it.

1. The best way to get even is to forget.

2. Feed your faith and your doubts will starve to death.

3. God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts.

4. Some folks wear their halos much too tight.

5. Some marriages are made in heaven, but they ALL have to
be maintained on earth.

6. Unless you can create the WHOLE universe in 5 days . . then
perhaps giving "advice" to God, isn't such a good idea.

7. Sorrow looks back, worry looks around and faith looks up.

8. Standing in the middle of the road is dangerous . . . You will
get knocked down by traffic from both ways.

9. Words are windows to the heart.

10. A skeptic is a person who . . . .when he sees the writing on
the wall claims it's a forgery.

11. It isn't difficult to make a mountain out of a molehill; just add
a little dirt.

12. A successful marriage isn't finding the right person. It is BEING
the right person.

13. The mighty oak tree was once a little nut that held it's ground.

14. Too many people offer God prayers, with claw marks all
over them.

15. The tongue must be heavy indeed, because so few people can
hold it.

16. To forgive is to set the prisoner free . . . and then discover
the prisoner was you.

17. You have to wonder about humans . . . they thing God is
dead and Elvis is alive.

18. It is all right to sit on your pity pot every now and again . . .
Just be sure to flush when you are done.

19. You'll notice that a turtle only makes progress when it
sticks out it's neck.

20. If the grass is greener on the other side of the fence . . .
you can bet the water bill is higher.

My friend Vicki sent me this next one. Thanks Vicki.

If my body was a car, this is the time I would be thinking
about trading it in for a newer model. I've got bumps and dents
and scratches in my finish, and my paint job is getting a little
dull . . . But that's not the worst of it.

My headlights are out of focus and it's especially hard to see
things up close.

My traction is not as graceful as it once was. I slip and slide
and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather.

My white-walls are stained with varicose veins.

It takes me hours to reach my maximum speed. My fuel rate
burns inefficiently.

But here's the worst of it - - -

Almost every time I sneeze, cough or splutter . . .either my
radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires.
<><><>

A tom cat owned by an elderly lady stayed out so late at
night that she decided to take him to the vet.

On his return, however, the cat still stayed out late, so
the old lady thought she would follow him and find out
where he went. Very cautiously she crept after him, down
a back alley, into a yard, where, surrounded by an admiring
ring of other "toms" he was holding court.

And the moral of this story is even if you have lost the where-
with-all, so long as you retain the know-how, you can always
set up as a consultant.
<><>

A woodpecker was talking to a chicken. "Woodpeckers are
smarter than you chickens."

"What makes you say that?" asked the chicken, "You seem
to spend
all your day banging your head against a tree."

"Ah!," responded the woodpecker. "But have you ever
heard of Kentucky Fried Woodpecker ?"
<><>

When it is very stormy and pouring with rain, owls are not
very keen to go romancing. All they do is sit in the trees
looking dejected. . . hence their call : "Too wet to woo,
Too wet to woo."

Hello dear Merle:-)

Glad to hear that everything is going well for you these days. It's a bit sad over here, as I posted this morning, my sister in law passed away Sunday morning. Her funeral is on Thursday so we're waiting for all the relatives to arrive.

I so love that photo of you with your laptop:-) And what kind of candy was it you were eating there Mz Merle??? hehe Kathy's horses are so gorgeous!!

I thoroughly enjoyed "Directions for Living"...I especially love #9..Words are windows to the heart. That is so true when you think of our blogs and how we get to know each other so well just by what the other person writes.

Take care my friend! xoxo

So many folks miss the truth in #16. To forgive is to set the prisoner free . . and then discover
the prisoner was you. Enjoyed the photos again, that looks to be such beautiful country over there. ec

Hi Merle, I love that tree. I wonder what sort it is.

Ahah, now we have proof that you do "compute".

Yes, never have children, only grandchildren is wise advise indeed. Pity none of us listened! Lol!

Take care. Hugs xoxo

Just a cheeky question for Gore Vidal "How do have grandchildren without having children?"

HaHa!
I'm just being playful here =)
