The Friendship Candle.

Post 304 - - - - - Tuesday, 4th September, 2007.

Hi Everyone ~~ I hope you enjoyed the Holiday in the U.S. and
Canada d that the rest of the week will be good for you. It is a
sad day today, the first anniversary of the death of the very popular
Steve Irwin. He was an amazing man with heaps of courage and
a wonderful family. They are quietly spending the day at the Zoo
and a day in November is declared Steve Irwin Day. 15th I think.

I am fine and went with my friend and helper on our fortnightly
shopping trip this morning. So all stocked up again and time to
do more cooking.

At the moment, on the TV, President Bush has just landed in Sydney
and there are protesters planning to protest tomorrow. It is 10:30pm
now and he has a staff of 650 people with him. I hope he gets out
of Australia safely.

Update on John - - He went to Doctor again today, got antibiotics, had
blood tests and a chest X- Ray. So hopefully he will soon be well.

Few photos tonight - - -

Four lovely Camellias I have out in flower at the moment.

A Rhodendrom and the Pale Pink Water-Lily Camellia.

My Foxtail Fern in a Hanging Basket.

My very basic Gazebo in the back yard.

My dear friend Karen has given me another Nice Matters Award, so a big
Thank you to Karen and I will pass it on tomorrow when I have more time.

First item tonight was sent by my dear friend, of long standing, as
opposed to an old friend. It is called The Friendship Candle.
Thanks Barbara.

Please don't break this even if you only pass it on to one person.

Notice at the end, the date the candle was started !!

I am not going to be the one who lets it die, I found it believable - - -

Angels have walked beside me all my life - - and they still do.

This is to all of you who mean something to me,
I pray for your happiness, The Candle of Love, Hope and Friendship.

This candle was lit on the 15th September, 1998.

Someone who loves you has helped keep it alive
by sending it to you.

Don't let the Candle of Love, Hope and Friendahip
die ! Pass it on to a;;.

Of your friends and Everyone you love !
May God richly bless you as you keep this candle burning.

Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow.
Don't walk behind me, I may not lead,
Just walk beside me and be my friend.
<><>

Barbara also sent me the first joke tonight, Thank you Barbara.

Three men were hiking through a forest when they came upon a
large raging violent river. Needing to get to the other side, the first
man prayed, "God, please give me the strength to cross the river."

Poof ! God gave him big arms and strong legs and he was able to
swim across in about 2 hours, having almost drowned twice.

After witnessing that, the second man prayed, "God, please give
me strength and the tools to cross the river."

Poof ! God gave him a rowboat and strong arms and legs and he
was able to row across the river in about an hour after almost
capsizing once.

Seeing what happened to the first two men, the third man prayed,
"God, please give me the strength, the tools and the intelligence to
cross the river.

Poof ! He was turned into a woman, She checked the map, hiked
one hundred yards up stream and walked across the bridge.

Making Mistakes.
A minister and a lawyer were chatting at a party.

"What do you do if you make a mistake on a case ?" the minister
asked.

"Try to fix it if it's big; ignore it if it's insignificant," replied the
lawyer. "What do you do ?"

The minister replied, "Oh, more or less the same. Let me give
you an example. The other day I meant to say, 'the devil is the
father of liars,' but instead I said 'the devil is the father of lawyers,'
so I let it go."

This one was sent by Sandy
and has a twist at the end of it.
Thanks Sandy.
A woman was out golfing one day when she hit the ball into the woods.
She went into the woods to look for it and found a frog in a trap.

The frog said to her, "If you release me from this trap, I will grant
you three wishes."

The woman freed the frog, and the frog said, "Thank you, but I
failed to mention that there was a condition to your wishes.
Whatever you wish for, your husband will get times ten !"
The woman sid, "That's okay."

For her first wish, she wanted to be the most beautiful woman in the
world. The frog warned her, "You do realize that this wish will also
make your husband the most handsome man in the world, an Adonis
whom women will flock to."

The woman replied, "That's okay, because I will be the most beautiful
woman in the world and he will only have eyes for me."
So, KAZAM - she's the most beautiful woman in the world.

For her second wish, she wanted to be the richest woman in the world.
The frog said, "That will make your husband the richest man in the
world. And he will be ten times richer than you."

The woman said, "That's okay, because what's mine is his and what's
his is mine." So, KAZAM, she's the richest woman in the world.

The frog then inquired about her third wish, and she answered, I'd
like to have a mild heart attack."

Moral of this story : Women are clever. Don't mess with them.

really smart.

Let them continue to think that way and just enjoy the show.

goes to show that women never listen !!!

Send this to all the guys for a good laugh; and to all the ladies
who have a good sense of humour.

When the store manager returned from lunch, he noticed his
clerk's hand was bandaged, but before he could ask about the
bandage, the clerk had some very good news.

"Guess what. sir ?" the clerk said, "I finally sold that terrible,
ugly suit we've had for so long."

"Do you mean that repulsive pink and blue double breasted
thing?" the manager asked.
"That's the one !"

"That's great," the manager cried, "I thought we would never
get rid of that monstrosity ! That had to be the ugliest suit we've
ever had ! But tell me, why is your hand bandaged ?"

"Oh," the clerk replied, "after I sold the guy that suit, his seeing-
eye dog bit me."

A Jewish man walks into a bar and sits down. He has a few drinks,
then he sees a Chinese man and punches him in the face.

"Ouch," says the Chinese man, "What was that for ?"
That was for Pearl Harbor," says the Jewish man.

"But I'm Chinese."

"Chinese, Japanese. What's the difference ?"

And the Jewish man sits back down. Then the Chinese man
walks up to him and punches him in the face.
"Ouch, " the Jewish man says, "What was that for ?"

"That was for the Titanic," the Chinese man says.
"But that was an iceberg."

"Iceberg, Goldberg. What's the difference ?"

Yes it is already one year ago that Steve Irwin died ! We say that always the best people leave first.
Poor people in Sidney !! When Bush honored Brussels with his presence, the people were furious because streets were blocked, which caused huge traffic jams in city center they couldn't go to work not to speak about all the protestations ! In short a mess !! Nobody waved him good bye !

Poor President Bush, he had just taken office when Sept 11th occurred and no one blames his ADVISERS, JUST HIM.
I bet he has a calender stuffed away somewhere, marking off the days when he can go back to Crawford.
Thanks for sharing Barbara and Sandy's jokes. what a hoot.
Glad to hear that John is on the mend.

I just commented to Robyn that I had not realized it had been a year since the death of Steve Irwin, time is going fast!

I hope all goes well for your country while the prez is there...I can understand how nervous ya'll must be!

Your camellias are so pretty and so is that foxtail fern!!

I would so love to sit out in your gazebo for a cuppa and a chin wag as my friend Horizon says!

Love the pics, Merle.

I hope there are no unfortunate incidents during the President's stay here. He should be accorded the respect he deserves, whether some agree or disagree with him. He is, after all, the leader of the Free World. Those wasting their voices and time protesting should be out protesting about terrorism and despotic leaders such as Mugabe and his ilk. They'd have something real to protest about if we were under the rule of Al Qaeda or the Taliban. I'll get down off my soapbox now! ;)

Take good care, Merle. :)

Has it been a year already since Steve’s unfortunate death?

Do you think you could keep my president down under for a while? Like to the end of his term in office.

Hi Merle. You have a very pretty garden. Are you and Jeanette in competition?

I wonder how John is getting along? Does he have some of your chicken soup socked away in his freezer? Here is wishing for his speedy recovery.

Please don't keep our president! Our V.P. is scary! After the election you can have him.

I am really slowing down on the blogging now as we leave for the resumption of our UK holiday next Tuesday.
So expect just a few more visits and a couple of posts until we come back.

Merle I remember when LBJ came to Australia. Ken and I were among the thousands lining the streets of Melbourne to WELCOME him...what has gone wrong with people these days, that they are so rude to visitors to our country?
Thank you for identifying my purple plant - as soon as I read your comment, I said to myself "Yes! of course!!"
