Rainbow River.

Post 344 ~ ~ ~ ~ Sunday, 21st October, 2007.

Hello My Friends ~ ~ I hope you are all well and enjoying the
weekend. Ours is almost over, and it has been a very hot day
today ~~ 37 degrees C which I think is close to 100 F. Whew !!

John arrived early, before it got too hot and climbed on my roof
and turned on my Evaporative cooler, which gets turned off in
Winter. Just in time for today's first Real heat.

Then we went to the market, where I only wanted to get some
more Pelargoniums, so we went straight to that stall and chose
the ones I wanted. Then we came home, as I didn't want John
in the heat too long and besides he had a lot of plastic bags to
carry and wouldn't let me carry even one. Many thanks John.

Tonight's pictures you will never guess what they are ~ ~ ~

Pelargoniums

A really nice one that has bloomed in my garden of late.

A dark red one I have had for a long while.

A new one today which is very pretty.

Four of the new ones today, white & a little purple, the red
one above, another white with very little purple and a very
pretty purple one. Flowers were wilting a bit, so was I.

Tonight I have a very sad poem, Author Unknown, but I thought
it was cleverly done. Obviously by someone abused.

The river of my life runs
strong and deep
but throughout it's course
it has taken on many colors and hues.
The river runs pink
when I was born
I was small, wrinkled and pink.

The river runs orange
for the happiest and brightest
times of my life.
The river runs green
for the times I was
sick and needed to be nursed.

The river runs yellow
all the times I was scared
not wanting to be alone
The river runs yellow
so many times I cringed
and cowered at your touch.

The river runs blue
since the time a coldness
has entered my soul.
The river runs red
for the anger that courses
through my being.

The river runs black
hatred for you
who betrayed my trust
The river runs ~
The river runs a rainbow.

Joke time folks ~ ~ ~

One of the turns at a variety entertainment was a strong man
who took a lemon in his hand and squeezed it so hard that
apparently not a further drop of juice remained. He then
offered $20 to any member of the audience who could manage
to squeeze a few more drops. At first, no one volunteered,
then a little, middle aged man rose to his feet and said he
would like to try.

Taking the lemon firmly in his hand and pressed very hard
until a thin trickle ran out. The strong man was astonished
and asked the other if he, too was a performer.

"No," replied the little man, "I'm an Income Tax Collector."
<><>

"Is that the Police ?" asked a panic stricken voice on the
phone to police headquarters.
"Yes, this is the Police station," replied the officer on duty.
"Oh, thank goodness! I want to report a burglar trapped
in an old lady's bedroom. Please come quickly."

"Who is this calling ?" asked the policeman.
"The burglar," replied the voice on the phone.

John : When I proposed to you and we got married
your hair was blonde. Now it's dark brown.
Sally : So ? Dark brown is my natural color.
John : I know that now. I was just wondering if I
could sue you for bleach of promise . . .

A Roman Catholic priest, anxious to be friends
with his counterparts in the Church of Scotland,
invited a neighboring minister to have tea at his house.

When the minister arrived, he was shown into a very
tastefully furnished drawing room, with a fitted
carpet, soft and comfortable chairs, and fine pictures
on the walls.

"My goodness," declared the visiting minister, "You
priests certainly do yourselves well."

The priest smiled, "Ah, yes, " he nodded, "You may have
the better halves, my friend ~~ but we have the better
quarters."
<><>

The small car pulled up to a sudden halt. "Have you run
out of petrol ?" asked the girl, somewhat sarcastically.

"No, of course not," replied her young male companion.
"Then why have we stopped ?"

"You will no doubt have noticed that we are parked in a
secluded spot in the middle of this forest and miles from
anywhere ~ so I thought you might like a discussion about
the hereafter."

"That's something new, " replied the young girl, "What do
you mean ?"
"Simple ! If you're not hereafter what I am hereafter, you'll
be hereafter I've gone."

Two Irishmen were standing at the base of a flagpole, looking
up. A blonde walks by and asked what they are doing.

Paddy : "We're supposed to find the height of this flagpole, but
we don't have a ladder."

The blonde took a spanner from her purse, loosened a few bolts
and laid the flagpole down.

She pulled out a tape measure from her pocket, took a few
measurements and announced that it was six metres. She
then walked off.

Mick : "Ain't that just like a blonde. We need the height and
she gives us the length."
<><>
I reckon the blonde was the smartest in that one !!

Understanding Engineers ~ ~

Normal people believe if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Engineers believe if it ain't broke, it doesn't have enough
features yet.

Some things to think about ~~ children ~~

You spend the first two years of their life teaching them to
talk. Then you spend the next 16 telling them to sit down
and shut up.

Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your children.

Mothers of teens now know why some animals eat their young.

Children seldom misquote you. In fact they usually repeat word
for word what you shouldn't have said.

The main purpose of holding children's parties is to remind
yourself that there are children more awful than your own.

We childproof our homes, but they still keep getting in.

Be nice to your kids. They choose your nursing home.

If you have a lot of tension and get a headache
, do what
it says on the Aspirin bottle :
"Take two aspirin" and "keep away from children."
<><>

That is it for tonight my friends, Look after yourselves and
each other. Spread some smiles around. Love and Best
Wishes to you all. Cheers, Merle.

Hi Merle, I just popped along for sunday roast but it looks like I missed it!! I like the pelagoniums, especially with the dark colours in them like that. I had a lot of trouble with whitefly in mine this time. Thanks for the comment you made in the 'Hiking Gardener', for sure it was a hard day, back in those days though I sort of relished the challenge for some reason so even though it was hard work it was enjoyable afterwards, I'm not so sure I would take on so much these days though. Thanks also for telling me about Ollie, she does real well. Bob.

Merle,

Loved the photos. These are so pretty. I had one this summer and it didn't do so well. Meeko, my beloved and loyal canine companion kept disturbing it. However, it is still in the garden and still blooming a little though the leaves have been touched by frost.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting on the farm photos. I always enjoy your visits.

Have wonderful day.
Mary

I hope you are staying cool. Those temps are really HOT.
We are getting kkkkkcolder while you are warming up. We should trade off some degrees.
Great post. I wish I had more time to visit like I used to. I miss my daily doses of you.

Good evening, here it is 4:55pm Sunday. A lovely fall day here, sun shining, temp got up to around 76F which is a nice temp. Dry though we need some rain badly.

Your new flowers are going to look beautiful in your garden. Glad your son made it safely to your home. Also glad he was able to get that thingy on your roof turned on, it sounds like you will be having some hot weather.

Well time to fix a bite for supper. Have a good week. So happy Olive had a nice birthday. That just happens to be my Mother's name, except everyone calls her May, which is her middle name, only her one set of Grandparents called her Ollie.

Merle
Read both of your post this morning very early here. Way past my bed time.
I am glad you enjoy the objects enough to post them.
Glad to hear John is doing well after the removal and was even spriy enough to go up on the roof.
I gave up getting up there years ago but I did help Prince with the cabin's roof at the lake this year. But as I was coming down, I put that on a not to do anymore list.
Your pictures are great but it sounds as if you are getting our weather that we had in August. I truly hope NOT.
Take care and your jokes make my day and nights.
Thanks for being YOU.
Peace
