Everyone Needs Someone. 2

Post 442 ~ ~ ~ Thursday, 24th April, 2008.

Hi Everyone ~~ Only half of my post last night published, so
I will try to remember the bits it missed, including the photo.

This is a photo of my mother taken at Currumbin Bird Sanctuary on
the Gold Coast of Queensland. She was holding a tray of bird-seed
and you see the result. I was inspired to show this, following my
friend Jerry 's great post about the Gold Coast on his blog. He
previously had an excellent post about Sydney, Australia. You
may like to visit his blog, which is always full of photos and info
about the many places, he and his wife have visited. Hi Jerry !!

My cousin, Michelle with whom I spent Easter, sent me a lovely
book of Poems by Helen Steiner Rice. She wrote so many very
nice words over the years. So I am posting (again) the title of
the book. Everyone Need Someone.

People need people and friends need friends
And we all need love for a full life depends
Not on vast riches or great acclaim,
Not on success or on worldly fame;
But just in knowing that someone cares
And holds us close in their thoughts and prayers ---
For only the knowledge that we're understood
Makes everyday living feel wonderfully good,
And we rob ourselves of life's greatest need
When we "lock up our hearts" and fail to heed
The outstretched hand reaching to find
A kindred spirit whose heart and mind
Are lonely and longing to somehow share
Our joys and sorrows and to make us aware
That life's completeness and richness depends
On the things we share with our loved ones and friends.

Since I am here I will find another joke for you ~ ~ ~

A mother was working in the kitchen listening to her
five year old son playing with his new electric tain in
the living room.

She heard the train stop and her son saying, "All of
you bastards who want off, get the hell off now, 'cause
this is the last stop. And all of you b*****ds getting on
get your ass on the train, 'cause we're going down the
tracks right now."

The horrified mother went in and told her son, "We don't
use that sort of language in this house. Now I want you
to go to your room for two hours. When you come out,
you may play with the train, but you must use nice language.

Two hours later, the son came out of the bedroom and
resumed playing with his train. Soon the train stopped and
the mother heard her son say, "All passengers who are
disembarking the train , please remember to take all your
belongings with you. We thank you for travelling with us today
and hope your trip was a pleasant one.

She hears the little boy continue, "For those of you just
boarding, we ask that you stow all your hand luggage under
your seat. Remember there is no smoking on the train, We
hope you will have a pleasant and relaxing journey with us today."

As the mother began to smile, the child added, :For those of
you who are pissed off about the two hour delay, please see
the fat bitch in the kitchen.

Paddy and Mick worked together in the factory and were
both laid off. At the unemployment office, Paddy was asked
his occupation, "Panty stitcher. . . I sew de elastic in ladies'
panties," he replied.

Being unskilled labor, Paddy was given 100 euros a week. When
Mick was asked the same question, he replied "diesel fitter"
and since this is skilled work, he was given 200 euros a week.

When Paddy found out Mick was getting 100 euros a week more
than him, he was furious. He stormed back to the unemployment
office and demanded to know why his mate was getting more dosh.

The clerk explained that panty stitching is unskilled work, whereas
diesel fitting was skilled work.
"What fecking skill??? yelled Paddy. " I sew the elastic on the
panties. Mick puts them over his head and says, "Yep, diesel fitter."
<><>

I had better stop now, before I get into more strife. Stay well
my friends and enjoy your lives. Love and best wishes to all.
Cheers, Merle.

Hi Merle,

Your mom looks excited to have the birds perched on her arm, but I think those two on her head made a very noisey hat.

I like the joke, but I think that boy will be spending quite a bit more time in the bathroom.

By the way I have a book on names and while I was looking through it today I just happened to find your name. Merle means black bird, interesting because I remember you mentioning that you like the black bird where you live.

Thank you for leaving the comments on my blog. Vanessa's parents are still having a rought time of it.

Dear Merle,

Love the picture of your mother. Look at all the cute birds! Your mother had a nice smile, like you.

Love the Helen Steiner Rice poem. People do need people, and friends are always lives treasures!

Cute story about the boy and the trains. Wonder if he got sent to his room again? And the panty stitcher joke was funny! Hahaha.

I always enjoy my visits with you, dear Merle. I will be heading out early this morning, as heavy rain is in the forecast for later. Have a wonderful day, dear friend.

Love and Hugs,

Renie

Hi Merle (I'm back!)

I think what we see with your Mom has something fishy going on. Perhaps a table or wall decoration with fake birds?

I liked your jokes, probably the train was the best. I love those laid off and getting fired jokes. This one is new to me.

Adi may steal your dog/cat outlook on life thing. She is like that except spoiled.

Cheers,
..

LOL love the one of the Mother working in the kitchen and the son playing with the train. Bless his little heart, wonder where he picked up that language. Lovely photo of your Mother. Can't imagine holding a tray of seeds and having that many birds fly onto it. Must have been heavy. Didn't make my rounds yesterday and today was busy all morning, then went to my Mother's around 11:00am and got back home around 6:30pm Now I am pooped. Have a few things to do around the house before I settle in to watch a little TV. Sleep well my friend.

Those parrots look really hungry, I would have been concerned about my arm being mistaken for food. :) ec
