Evening Prayers.

Post 471 ~ ~ ~ Thursday, 26th June, 2008.

Hello My Friends ~~ We are heading for the
end of another week and I hope it has been a
good one for you all. It has been a sad one in
Australia with the death and funeral of a much
loved lady. She had an 11 year battle with cancer
and died at age 42. Her husband, a great Aussie
cricketer is devastated. The two children are
James 8, and Holly 6. They released 3 white
doves after the service. Jane is at rest now. R.I.P.

Thank you so very much for the kind words sent
about this, I do appreciate them. You are all so
very kind. I will get round to answering you all.

Today, my soldier grandson turned nineteen. I
hope you had a great day Joh and continue to
enjoy
your life.

Tonight's short first item was sent by my friend, Barbara.
Thank you Barbara. It is called "Evening Prayers."

The intensity of the dog's face shows more sincerity
than many people. Picture of the Year.

Ya' gotta love the face on the dog!
Of all the junk we get over the Internet,
occasionally we get something like this.
It was too good not to pass on.

Time for some jokes ~ ~ ~
The first two are from my blogging
friend, Patty. Thank you Patty.

A man was washed up on a beach after a terrible
shipwreck. Only a sheep and a sheepdog were
washed up with him. After looking around, he
realized that they were on a deserted island.

After being there for a while, he got into the habit
of taking his two animal companions to the beach
every evening to watch the sunset.

One particular evening, the sky was a fiery red with
beautiful cirrus clouds, the breeze was warm and
gentle - a perfect night for romance.

As they sat there, the sheep started looking better
and better to the lonely man. Soon, he leaned over
to the sheep and put his arm around it.

But the sheepdog, ever protective of the sheep,
growled fiercely until the man took his arm from
around the sheep.

After that, the three of them continued to enjoy the
sunsets together, but there was no more cuddling.

A few weeks passed by and lo and behold, there was
another shipwreck.
The only survivor was Hillary Clinton.

That evening, the man brought Hillary to the evening
beach ritual. It was another beautiful evening - red
sky, cirrus clouds, a warm and gentle breeze - perfect
for romance. Pretty soon, the man started to get
'those feelings' again.

He fought the urges as long as he could but he finally
leaned over to Hillary and told her he hadn't had sex
for months. Hillary batted her eyelashes and asked if
there was anything she could do for him.

He said, "Would you mind taking the dog for a walk?"

Smart Kid.
I remember the time that Catherine - one of my
daughter's friends, told me when she was little,
that she wanted to be President one day. Both
her parents are liberal democrats and were there
with us. I asked Catherine -"If you were President
what would be the first thing you would do?"

Catherine replied, " I would give houses to all the
homeless people." "Wow what a worthy goal you
have there Catherine."

I told her, "You don't have to wait until you are
President to do that. You can come over to my house
and clean up all the dog poop in the back yard and I
will pay you $5 dollars. Then we can go over to
the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out,
and you can give him the $5 dollars."

Catherine (who was about 4) thought that over for a
second, while her mom looked at me, and Catherine
replied, " Why doesn't the homeless guy come over
and clean up the dog poop and you can pay him the
$5 dollars?"

Catherine, welcome to the Republican Party."

"Life's tough .... it's even tougher if you're stupid."

A man was walking down a country road when he
heard a voice coming from behind a tree, but all
he could see was a horse.
"Hello, remember me?" the voice said. "I won
the Kentucky Derby two years ago."

"A talking horse!" the man exclaimed, so he ran
to a nearby field where the farmer was working
and asked, "What would you take for the horse?"

"That horse is no good, you can have him for $20."

"Twenty dollars,? I'll give you two thousand."
"Has that old haybag been giving you that
baloney about winning the Kentucky Derby?
Listen, I happen to know he came in last."
<><>

A man walked into a pub carrying a chequered
flag.
"I hope you're not going to start anything in here."

A lawyer died and went to heaven. As he approached
the Pearly Gates, he noticed an orchestra playing
and thousands of angels cheering. St Peter, himself
rushed over to shake the lawyer's hand.

"This is quite a reception," marvelled the new arrival.

"You're very special," St Peter explained, "We've
never had anyone live to be 130 before."

The lawyer was puzzled, "But I'm only 65."
St Peter thought for a moment, "Oh," he said,
"we must have added up your billing hours."

An Englishman, a Frenchman and a Russian
were studying a picture of Adam and Eve in
the Garden of Eden.

"They are obviously English," said the English-
man. "She's only got one apple but she's giving
it to him to eat."

"No, No," said the Frenchman. "Naked and
eating fruit together, they must be French."

"They are Russian," said the Russian firmly,
"They have no clothes, hardly anything to eat
and yet they think they are in paradise."

Psychiatrist: "Why can't you sleep at night?"
Patient: "Because I'm busy trying to solve all
the world's problems."
Psychiatrist: "Ever get them solved?"
Patient: "Almost every time."
Psychiatrist: "Then why can't you sleep?"
Patient: "The celebration parades they held
for me keep me awake."

A few quotes from Robert Frost. ~ ~ ~

Good fences make good neighbors.

And nothing to look backward to with pride,
And nothing to look forward to with hope.

Home is the place where, when you go there,
They have to take you in.

I'm not confused, I'm just well mixed.

Well my friends, that is it for this post. I hope
you all enjoy the rest of the week, and then
have a great weekend. Love and best wishes to
everyone. Cheers, Merle.

That pic of the dog and boy praying is precious. And I love the young Republican! By the way, I definitely meant it as a compliment about you reminding me of my Aunt Fern! I'm going to add you to my blogroll, it's nice to be able to get a laugh or something to think about at the click of a button! Thanks.

Good afternoon Merle, looks as though we might get another thunderstorm. We had quite a few yesterday and last evening.

I like this one: I'm not confused, I'm just well mixed. Boy have I been well mixed for sometime now. LOL

This Sunday the 29th. we'll be celebrating two daughters birthdays, one is tomorrow the 27th and one is July 5th. But Sunday is the best time for eveyone to be able to get together. So it will be another busy day. LOL
We've ordered a cake, so I don't have to worry about dessert. I want to make some Italian Pasta Salad and grill out some chicken breast strips and also some Nathan beef hotdogs. Myself I would rather have the hotdog. Probably also have some veggies and dip, plus watermelon and cantaloupe. And can't foget the old favorite potato chips and dip.

Well it's almost time to fix Abe a bite for his supper, it will be soup and a sandwich. We have our larger meal at lunchtime.

Have a good evening. Hope it hasn't been too cold over there for you. Today it got up to 88F and the humidity is high which makes it seem a lot hotter.
Love,
Patty
