Give Lavishly! Live Abundantly!

Post 516 ~ ~ ~ Friday, 3rd October, 2008.

Hello Again My Friends~~Well I am back; didn't get a heck of a lot done, but a few things.Haven't a clue what to post, but hopefully will find something shortly. It has been
a crazy sort of week. I worried all day Tuesday, as my grand-daughter was going into
hospital on the 30th September to be induced a little early with her baby. The reason was she had gestational diabetes and had been giving herself injections for quite a while.

Anyway, happily she gave birth to Chloe on 1st October, so I have another great grand-
daughter. That makes three. I have spoken on the phone to Rachael, the new Mum a
couple of times and she is thrilled and glad to have her little daughter at last. She did lose a previous one through an early miscarriage. So I am delighted for the new family of three. It is hard work becoming a G.G.Mother, no wonder I am tired!!

My son John, the grandfather, took me to Bunnings, and you know what Robyn, they didn't have that sign up "Don't let Merle come in." So I got some tomato plants and a few other plants and a tree trimmer, and some tomato and vegetable potting mix.
I have never seen that before this year. My friend, Lorraine is coming to put them in for me over the weekend.

I hope you are all doing well and life is good for you. Thank you so much for the kind
comments. They will all get answered very soon. I have decided to share a short Helen Steiner Rice poem with you. It is called Give Lavishly! Live Abundantly! I hope you enjoy

The more you give, the more you get ---
The more you laugh, the less you fret ---
The more you do unselfishly,
The more you live abundantly.

The more of everything you share,
The more you'll always have to spare ---
The more you love, the more you'll find
That life is good and friends are kind.

For only what we give away
Enriches us from day to day.

Now for some jokes, folks - - -

I bought the latest computer;
It came completely loaded.
It was guaranteed for 90 days,
But in 30 was outmoded. ~ ~ ~ Bill Ihlenfeldt.

The pet shop customer couldn't believe his good fortune. The parrot he had just bought
could recite Shakespeare's sonnets, imitate opera stars and intone Homer's epic poems in Greek.
Once the man got the bird home, however, not another word passed his beak. After three weeks, the disconsolate customer returned to the shop and asked for his money back. "When we had this bird," said the proprietor, " he could recite poetry and sing like an angel. Now you want me to take him back when he's no longer himself?"
"Well all right, out of the goodness of my heart, I'll give you half your money back."

Reluctantly, the man accepted his loss. Just as the door shut behind him, he heard the parrot say to the shop owner, "Don't forget my share of the profit."

The inmate was aware all prison mail passes through censors. When he got a letter from his wife asking about the family garden ---"Honey, when do I plant some potatoes?" He wrote back, "Do not under any circumstances, dig up our old garden spot. That's where I buried all my guns.."

Within days his wife wrote back, "Six investigators came to the house. They dug up every inch of the back yard." By return mail she got his answer, "Now is the time to
plant potatoes."

A young couple had a fatal accident on the way to their wedding. When they met St. Peter at the Pearly gates, they asked if it was possible for them to marry in Heaven.
He said he would get back to them after making some inquiries.

A year later, St. Peter found the couple and told them they could get married.
"Could we get a divorce if it doesn't work out?" they wanted to know.
"Good grief," St Peter exclaimed, "It took me a whole year to find a preacher up here,
---and now you want me to find a lawyer."

A Christian in ancient Rome was being pursued by a lion. He ran through the city streets and into the woods, dodging back and forth among the trees. Finally it became obvious that it was hopeless --- the lion was going to catch him. So he turned suddenly
faced the beast and dropped to his knees, "Lord," he prayed desperately, "make this lion a Christian."

Instantly the lion dropped to his knees and prayed, "For this meal of which I am about to partake . . . ."

A young and extremely nervous barrister - - - call him Mr. Green -- was making his first plea in mitigation for a defendant.
"My Lord," he said, "my unfortunate client . . ." and dried up. He tried a second and a third time, but on each occasion got no further than saying, "My Lord, my unfortunate
client . . ." At this point, the judge leaned forward with a smile of encouragement,

"Go on, Mr. Green. So far the court is in entire agreement with you."
<><>

"What possible excuse can you give for acquitting this defendant?" the judge shouted at the jury.
"Insanity, Your Honour," replied the foreman.
"All 12 of you?"

Two friends are talking about their reading. "I'm fascinated by medical publications.
A friend of mine treated herself, using articles she read in the journals."

"You're speaking of her in the past tense. Did she die?" "Unfortunately."
"What did she die of?" "A typographical error."

Three Frenchmen were trying to define "savoir-faire." "If I go home," said Alphnse,
"and find my wife with another man, say 'Excuse me' and leave, that is savoir faire."

"No," replied Pierre, "if I go home and find my wife with another man and say, 'Excuse me, please continue,' that is savoir faire."

"Au contraire," said Jacques, "If I go home and find my wife with another man and say, 'Excuse me, please continue,' and he can continue, then he has savoir faire."
<><>

Well that is it for tonight. Look after yourselves and each other. Love and best wishes to you all. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Cheers, Merle.

Merle
Good jokes and loved the poem. I think Congratulations are in order for GGM. In my warp sense of humor I thought how appropriate to be a GGM a third time for Third Try. Have a great weekend. Peace

Good evening Merle,
Loved them all. Congratulations on being a Great Grandma again. Like I have said before, by the time I become one, I'll probably be too old to hold the baby. LOL Our 26 and 25 year old Grandchildren have no intentions of marrying anyone anytime soon. So that leaves a 16, year old, 9 and 8, see what I mean.

Hope you have a wonderful week-end. Daughter and Granddaughter plus one black cat got moved in last evening.

I may not be on computer as much. LOL Have a wonderful week-end and good luck with your tomato plants. Love, Patty

Congratulations on your new little great granddaughter, Merle. Glad all is well with mum and bub. Cooper's mum had gestational diabetes, too, but was able to treat it with diet only...lucky girl.

What???? Bunnings didn't have a sign up refusing you entry. I'll have to do something about that...lol! Sounds like you had fun, though, Merle. I may go there myself tomorrow (hope I don't find a sign refusing me entry...)

Take care, Merle. Hugs.

Dear Merle,

Congratulations on being a GG Mother again! How wonderful! And Congratulations to Rachel, and Grandpa John! You came back with such good news. My oldest granddaughter is just 18 and in college and not in a hurry to make me a GG anytime soon.

Neighbors like Lorraine are a blessing, aren't they? Just think of all the juicy tomatoes you'll be enjoying in about 3 months. My tomatoes have done wonderfully well, and I am still getting a few ripe ones almost every day, since the weather has been wonderful.

Love the Helen Steiner Rice poem. Thank you for sharing it with us. And the jokes are always fun and funny. The guy with the parrot had a good scheme going. The inmate in prison was smart. All the jokes brought a chuckle.

Dear Merle, I am glad you are back and I hope you're having a wonderful Sunday. So until next time, take good care, dear friend.

Love and blessings,

Renie

I love the abbreviation very much. It's so unique.

Chloe is a very beautiful and meaningful name.

May I borrow the poem by Helen on Living and Giving?
Thank you, Merle =)
