How Rich Are We?

Post 568 ~ ~ ~ Monday, 2nd February, 2009.

Hello Everyone ~ ~ I hope all is well with all my friends. It is a little cooler here today.
Only 35C which is 95 F. I have been cooking which made it feel hotter. So now I get to have a few days off from cooking. Shopping day tomorrow to stock up on things.

A dear blogging friend of mine has her birthday today. Please wish her a happy birthday.
She is Karen of passions of my heart, over in Utah, US. I hope you have had a lovely
day my friend. Karen has lots of wonderful photos on her blog.

Tonight's story is called "How Rich Are We?" Author Unknown. I hope you enjoy it.

One day a father and his rich family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose to show him how poor people can be.

They spent a day and a night on the farm of a very poor family. When they got back from the trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"

"Very good Dad." "Did you see how poor people can be?" the father asked.
"Yeah." "And what did you learn?"

The son answered, "I saw that we have a dog at home, and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden; they have a creek that has no end, We have imported lamps in the garden. They have the stars.
Our patio reaches to the front yard; they have a whole horizon."

When the little boy was finished, his father was speechless.
His son added, "Thanks Dad for showing me how 'poor' we are."

Isn't it true that it all depends on the way you look at things? If you have love, friends,
family, health, good humor and a positive attitude towards life -- you have everything.

You can't buy any of these things. You may have all the material possessions you can
imagine, provisions for the future, etc; but if you are poor of spirit, you have nothing.

Addendum -- 1 Timothy 6:17 (GNB) "Command those who are rich in the things of this life
not to be proud, but to place their hope. not in such an uncertain things as riches, but in God, who generously gives us everything for our enjoyment."

Nancy sent this one, thank you my friend.

We have all talked to this guy. . . . .

Mujibar was trying to get a job in India.
The Personnel Manager said, "Mujibar, you have passed all the tests, except one and unless you pass it, you cannot qualify for this job."

Mujibar said, "I am ready."
The manager said, "Make a sentence using the words Yellow, Pink and Green."

Mujibar thought for a few minutes and said, "Mister Manager, I am ready."
The manager said, "Go ahead."

Mujibar said, "The telephone goes green green, and I pink it up and say, Yellow, this is
Mujibar.'"
Now Mujibar works at a call center. No doubt you have spoken to him. I know I have.

The next one was sent by my dear friend Ann I thank you so much, lovely to hear fromyou

"Be the change you want to see in the world." ~~ Mahatma Gandhi.

Should children witness childbirth?
Due to a power cut, only one paramedic responded to the call.

The house was very dark so the paramedic asked Kathleen, a 3 year old girl to hold a torch high over her mummy so he could see while he helped deliver the baby.

Very diligently, Kathleen did as she was asked.
Heidi pushed and pushed and after a little while Connor was born.

The paramedic lifted him by his little feet and spanked him on the bottom. Connor began to cry. The paramedic then thanked Kathleen for her help and asked the wide-eyed 3 year old what she thought about what she had witnessed.

Kathleen quickly responded, "He shouldn't have crawled in there in the first place . . .
smack him again."

Next one from my good friend Nancy hank you very much for this one too.

Two patients limp into different medical clinics with the same complaint. Both have trouble walking and appear to require a hip replacement.

The FIRST patient is examined within the hour, is x-rayed the same day and has a time booked for surgery the following week.

The SECOND sees his family doctor after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment, then waits 8 weeks to see a specialist, then gets an X-ray, which isn't reviewed for another week and finally has his surgery scheduled for 6 months from then.

Why the different treatment for the two patients?

The FIRST is a Golden Retriever.

The SECOND is a Senior Citizen.

Next time take me to a vet !!

A good one from my good friend Patty Thank you my friend.

God said to "Adam, I want you to do something for me."
Adam said, "Gladly Lord. What do you want me to do?"
"Go down into that valley.'
Adam said, "What's a valley?"
God explained it to him. Then said, "Cross the river."

Adam said, "What's a river?"
God explained that to him and then said, "Go over the hill."
Adam said, "What is a hill?"
So God explained to Adam what a hill was. He told Adam, "On the other side of the hill you will find a cave."

Adam said, "What's a cave?"
After God explained that to him, He said, "In the cave you will find a woman."
Adam said, "What is a woman?"

So God explained that to him too. Then God said, :I want you to reproduce."
Adam said, "How do I do that?"
God first daid (under his breath) "Geez..."

And then just like everything else, God explained that to Adam as well.
So Adam goes down into the valley, Across the river, and over the hill, into the cave and
finds the woman. Then in about 5 minutes, he was back.

God, his patience wearing thin said, angrily, "What is it now?"
And Adam said . . . .

(You're going to love this !!!!!)

Another from Patty, thank you. Looks like this is the Patty and Nancy show tonight.

A man boarded an airplane in New Orleans with a box of frozen crabs. A female crew member took the box and promised to put it in the crew's refrigerator, which she did.

The man firmly ranted and raved that he was holding her personally responsible for the crabs staying frozen, and proceeded to threaten about what would happen if she let them thaw out.

Shortly before landing in New York she announced over the intercom to the entire cabin.
"Would the gentleman who gave me the crabs in New Orleans, please raise his hand and
come forward?"

Not one hand went up, nobody moved . . .so she took them home and ate them herself.
Men never learn.
<><>

Three men had a car crash and died. Their names were Luke, John and Greg. and they are at an orientation to enter Heaven and God is the host of the event. Fiftenn minutes
passed and God asks "What would you like your family and friends to say at your funeral?"

Luke is the first to answer and says, "I want people to say that he was a great guy and loved life."
John says, "I want my friends to say that I was the best mate they could ever have."
Greg , after much thought, says, "I want people to say, 'look, he's moving' "

Did you hear about the Irish termite?
They found it dead inside a brick.

What would you call it when an Italian has one arm shorter than the other?
A Speech Impediment.

That is it for this post my friends. I have to write a grocery list to last a fortnight,
Take great care of each other and enjoy your lives. I hope the week will be a good one for
everyone. My love and best wishes to you all. Cheers, Merle.

Good morning Merle,
Once again, some funny jokes. And I feel like I am like the poor family, don't have lots of money, but I have my family, fairly good health, a warm place to sleep and plenty of food. What more could anyone ask for? I've never been one to be impressed by someones worldly goods. They can be the loneliness people on the face of the earth.

Hard to believe it is Feb. 2nd. already. If Feb. and March go as quickly as Jan. did, we will be having Spring before we know it, but you my dear friend will be getting ready for your cold season. I don't know about you, but I seem to dread Winter more every year.

Have to run, want to do some laundry today. Tomorrow want to run to the grocery to do some shopping. I don't know why I say run, I haven't run anyplace for years, can walk quickly if I have to but that's about it. LOL

Take care,
Love, Patty

Glad to hear it's not so hot for you. Love the Kathleen story.

Just thinking about Patty saying she was going to run to the shops. We say we're going to pop to the shops. Isn't English funny!

Just checking in to see if you're okay in the awful heat Merle. I'm glad to hear that it's a little better. I was at Peter's place earlier, and it seems it's going to go on for quite some time. Please take care of yourself during this terrible heat.....I know you will. We're still trying to melt the snow we've got here; but we've had some sunny days lately and some warmer temps....30 degrees F....so that kind of helps.

Stay cool my dear friend...while I'll try to stay warm.... Love, Joy

Hi Merle!

I loved the story about the poor! We are rich in our own ways, just depends on how we look at it, huh? Just such a wonderful little story!

Glad you could use some of my jokes. I get a lot of them every day and don't have time to even read them all most of the time.

Glad your temp was a little cooler for you. We were supposed to hit 58 today....and I do think we did. Then they are saying possible snow showers tomorrow! LOL We never know, do we?

This has been a busy work day for me...lots of problems with files today, so I am behind. I will probably pull an "all-niter" tonight! I'll be dragging tomorrow then. LOL

Stay cool now....I love Spring but the summers are so hot here, too, as we get that awful humidity.

((( HUGS )))

Hello! These were really good. It is true, if we learn to be content, then it is amazing all the blessings we will see. So much to be thankful for, and it's rarely what people seem to be striving for. I also loved the one where the little girl watched the little baby boy being born! Stay cool - lots of ice cream!

Hah! Loved the one about the little girl at the birth of the baby, Merle. Takes a little kid to put things in perspective doesn't it.

I'm glad it's a little cooler for you now. It's getting hot here again. I've actually got the aircon on today. For the last week I haven't bothered but it's very humid today.

Take care. Hugs.

G'Day Merlie girl,
It was a bit cooler here today too but tomorrow it is predicted to go back up to 37c, at least you won't have to cook and heat up your kitchen.
Hey, I want them to say "Look She's moving" about me too. He he.
And that Italian one, I used to tease my old boss and tell her she must have had Italian blood somewhere along the line because if you cut off her hands she couldn't talk :)
Poor Adam.

Merle I can't comment tonight, I have a headache, haha. that one was really good. My son said when he had to wait to get his tooth worked on, that he could probably get in to see the vet quicker. Can you imagine that gentleman letting his expensive crabs go, because he did not want to come forward. Good night my friend.
