The "U" in Jesus.

Post 585 ~ ~ ~Saturday, 21st March, 2009.

Hello my friends ~~ I don't expect this post to be wonderful as I have had quite a few extra aches and pains showing up since the accident on Tuesday on top of the existing problems I had. I am on three new medications, so hope they do wonders and get back to where I was about a month ago. I hope you are all doing well and do not have my list
of complaints.
Probably you don't complain as much as I do. Sorry, just say it's therapy for me.

I had a surprise on Wednesday, a lady came to the door and asked if I remembered her.
I sort of knew the face, and it turned out to be a lady who stood behind my chair at the
crash scene. I must have been trembling because she had a hand on each shoulder, so i
hadn't seen much of her face. Every now and then she'd say "Are you still OK?"
So I thanked her and we had a lovely chat for a while.

Then on Thursday, a real surprise, Kerry came to see if I was OK. We were both so relieved
that we were both all right, we hugged and cried together. Enough of that now.
My elder son, John spent half the day with me today, just doing a few little jobs and just
talking and looking at some of the photos from his recent trip to Tasmania. (Tassie) It cheered me up to have some company.

Tonight I have a poem called "The "U" in Jesus. Author Unknown.

Before U were thought of or time had begun,
God stuck U in the name of His Son.

And each time U pray, you'll see it's true,
You can't spell out JesUs and not include U.

You're a pretty big part of His wonderful name,
For U, He was born: that's why He came.

And His great love for U is the reason He died,
It even takes U to spell crUcified.

Isn't it thrilling and splendidly grand
He rose from the dead, with U in his plan?

The stones split away, the gold trUmpet blew,
and this word resUrrection is spelled with a U.

When JesUs left earth at His Upward ascension,
He felt there was one thing He jUst had to mention.

Go into the world and tell them it's trUe,
That I love them all - Just like I love U.

Thank you Barbara for that one. Hope all is well with you.
<><>

Thank you so much Linda for the next few funnies called "Tales of the N.H.S."

No 1. A man rushes into the A&E dept, and yells...."My wife is going to have her baby in the taxi." I grabbed my stuff, rushed out to the taxi, lifted the lady's dress and began to take off her underwear. Suddenly, after protests from the lady, I noticed there were several taxis - - - and I was in the wrong one. ~~ Dr. McDonald, Glasgow.

No. 2 At the beginning of my shift, I placed a stethoscope on an elderly and slightly deaf female's chest wall. "Big breaths..." I instructed.
"Yes, they used to be, ".....replied the patient. ~~ Dr. Barnes, Bath.

No. 3 One day I had to be the bearer of bad news when I told a wife that her husband
had died of a massive myocardial infarct. Not more than five minutes later, I heard her on her mobile phone reporting to the rest of the family that he had died of a massive
internal fart. ~~ Dr. Steinberg - London

No.4. During a patient's two week follow-up appointment, he told me that he was having
trouble with one of his medications. "Which one..?" I asked.
The GTN patch; the nurse told me to put on a new one every six hours and now I'm running out of places to put it."
I had him quickly undress and discovered what I hoped I wouldn't see, . . . Yes the man had over fifty patches on his body. Now the instructions include removal of old patch before applying a new one. ~ ~ Dr, St.Clair - - Nofolk General.

No. 5 While acquainting myself with a new elderly patient, I asked, "How long have you been bedridden?"
After a look of complete confusion she answered, "Why, not for about 20 years - when
my husband was still alive." ~ ~ Dr. Swanson -Kent.

No. 6 I was performing rounds at the hospital this morning and while checking up on a
man, I asked..."So, how was your breakfast this morning?" "It's very good except for the
Kentucky Jelly. I can't seem to get used to the taste"...Bob replied
I then asked to see the jelly and Bob produced a foil packet labelled KY Jelly.
~~ Dr, Brandon -- Bristol.

No. 7. A nurse was on duty in the A&E when a young woman with purple hair styled
in a punk rocker Mohawk, sporting a variety of tattoos and wearing strange clothing,
entered , , , , It wa quickly determined that the patient had acute appendicitis, so she
was scheduled for an immediate operation....
When she was completely disrobed on the operating table, the staff noticed that her pubic hair had been dyed green, and above there was a tattoo that read.."Keep off the grass."

Once the surgery was completed, the surgeon wrote a short note on the patient's
dressing which read - - - "Sorry,..had to mow the lawn."

Last one from my good friend Robyn - Thank you Robyn. With apologies to
The 23rd Psalm.

"Caffeine is my shephard, I shall not doze It maketh me to wake in green pastures.
It leadth me beyond the sleeping masses.
It restoreth my buzz.
It leadeth me in the paths of consciousness for its name's sake.
Yea, though I walk in the valley of the shadow of addiction.
I will fear no 'Equal'
for thou art with me; thy cream and thy sugar they comfort me
Thou preparest a caraffe before me in the presence of the Starbucks.
Thou anointest my day with pep, my mug runneth over
(when I heat it too long in the microwave.)

Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my life,
And I will live in the House of Mochas forever. Author Unknown.
<><>

I will say Goodnight for now and get me to bed. Take care of yourselves and each
other. My love and best wishes to you all. Thanks so much for your kind comments
which I hope to reply to tomorrow. Cheers, Merle.

Merle I had an awful feeling you would have aches and pains after the accident. That happened to me and I could hardly get out of the chair for a little while. The shock is awful too. You just have to keep thnking your guardian angel was looking after you both that day. It could have been so much worse.

Take it easy, put your feet up. Everything will be here for you.

Thanks for these NHS stories, love them. It's hard to believe people are so dim, but they are.

Dear Merle,

I am sorry you are having the extra aches and pains! Thank the Good Lord it wasn't much worse. I hope the medications help a lot! If complaining is therapy for you, we are here to help by listening. I'm glad John is there to help you with things.

Dear Merle, The U in Jesus, is beautiful. And the jokes were so funny, loved The Tales of the N.H.S.! And the 23rd Psalm was funny as well. I can identify with that one!

Dear Merle, please rest as much as possible, and feel better soon! Lots of prayers coming your way!

Love and blessings,

Renie

Hi Merle,
Sorry to hear that you've had more pain since the accident. Sometimes the shock of the accident keeps the pain away for a day or so. I do hope the new meds help.
Glad your visitors helped put a smile on your face :)
Loved the NHS jokes, how can people get things so mixed up???
Too funny!
Take care and rest dear friend!

Dear Merle, I hope you got a good nights rest. I was afraid the accident might have some ill effects later in the week. Sometimes that happens. Hope in another week you'll be feeling as good as new. Take care. Love, Patty

Hi Merle, dare I say "you poor thing?" I am so sorry about your accident and the new pains. You sure don't need those. But if there isn't any serious injury I figure you count youself with the lucky ones.
I like your "U" in JesUs poem. I may circulate it or steal it to put on my Happy Place bog.
..
BTW I quite posting (last yet on Sunday) on my regular blog. I am overwhelmed with things now and to come for a while. I will still drop in on you. Someone has to help keep you straight.

Merle, I do hope you recover fully from the automobile accident. This woman that caused the wreck...you say she was epileptic? How can they allow them to be licensed to drive if they have the disease that would cause accidents like this, you wonder?

Do take care of yourself my friend.

Hello Dear Merle,
I recently spent a week in the hospital with a nasty little bug named "salmonella".So I have been out of circulation as you've probably noticed.
I am sorry you are achy and uncomfortable following your accident.
I was in an accident in '91,and I thought I was alright as I wasn't bleeding and had no broken bones. But God seems to endow us with a great strength following such an emergency. When that wears off you never know what to expect!
I have been crippled with pain every since my accident.
I do pray that you recover completely and quickly.
I will try to stay in touch more.
God bless you Merle,
carl

Dear Merle, your posts always give me joy. We all have to accept the good with the bad, don't we?
And,I've come to realize through the years that even in the difficulties that come our way,we can always find some good that somehow comes from it.
God bless you Merle,

So sorry to hear about your wreck and resultant aches and pains - I have been 'out of the loop' for about a month and off the computer mostly. Just trying to get the yard and garden ready for the spring. Hope all works out OK. ec

That was most unfortunate - to have been in the accident. You can be as careful as you can - and then the other driver gets you.

The previous post "flaw in women" was wonderful.

But, I have to say the medical funnies had me rolling. I've heard some friends stories from their hospital work along the same lines. Truth is funnier than the made up jokes!

Goodness, you've had a lot to contend with lately. I'm glad the accident wasn't worse, but it is still quite a shock to the system. Give yourself time to recover. Spoil yourself! I really enjoyed the medical jokes. (When I got a CAT scan of my head, I asked if they found anything and the tech said "No, nothing there." I jokingly said, "Darn, my husband was right all along, I've got no brain!" to which the tech very seriously assured me, "Oh, no, I saw a brain, there just wasn't anything wrong with it!" Cracked me up).

Dearest Merle,

I've just now caught up with all your latest news and I was so sorry to hear of Gwen's death, my heart goes out to you for the loss of your friend. You were also in a car accident...thank God no one was badly hurt but I can well imagine you'll be feeling the aches and pains for the next few days! Please know that I'm thinking of you and sending you big hugs across the miles.

Loved the stories and jokes...especially the one about the surgeon having to write a note saying "sorry, had to mow the lawn", too funny! hehe You always know how to brighten my day with chuckles:-)

Take care of YOU my friend and make sure you have plenty of rest. xoxo
