Daffodills.

Post 624 ~ ~ ~ Friday, 21st August, 2009.

Hi Everyone ~ ~ Here we go again, sorry it has been awhile but I have
had a very mixed week. On Monday my computer was fixed, so that
was good. Then my light went bung, but that is right now. Shopping
on Tuesday went well, until I was putting things away, when trying to
carry 2 two litre bottles of Fruit juice, I tripped on the back door-step.
I should have taken 2 trips, as I don't have a lot of strength nowadays.

Well I fell forward, wasn't hurt badly, BUT I couldn't get up. I tried and
tried and finally rang my Safety Pendant, and asked for my son to come
and help me up. The lady rang and said John is on his way and would
be 5 to 8 minutes. So he got me up easily, and we rang and thanked
them for the help. I have had the pendant for years and years, and
that was the first time I have had to use it.

I do hope you all have had a better week than me. Hope the weather
is nice for you. Today is my dear friend,
Jeanette's Birthday. So Please
pop oner to wish her a happy day. I hope you had a lovely day, dear Jan.
Remember last birthday here with dear Gwen and Pauline.

This is my niece, Vicki, Peter's daughter, taken by my son John recently.
She has nearly as many magnets on her fridge as I have. I guess the toys are for
her grandsons, when they visit. John said she looked so much better than the
last time he had seen her.

Tonight's first item is called "Daffodills." Author unknown.

There was this man who was pronounced dead for 20 miutes on the operating
and as far as "Seeing the Light " goes. . . . . .

He said he went to heaven and it was of visions and senses that a human cannot
express. The streets of Gold that everybody talks of was but a small speck of
the beauty that radiated from this wondrous place.

But what he most vividly remembers is Jesus walking with him as He led him to
Acres and Acres of Daffodills far and beyond. The man said, "Wow, I looove
daffodills, they're my favorite flower!"

Jesus simply replied, "Why does that surprise you? I said that I was going to
prepare a place ESPECIALLY FOR YOU."

Fifteen minutes into the flight from Melbourne to Sydney, the captain
announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, one of our engines has failed.
There is nothing to worry about. Our flight will take an hour longer
than scheduled, but we still have three engines left."

Thirty minutes later the captain announced, "One more engine has
failed and the flight will take an additional two hours. But don't worry. . .
We can fly just fine on two engines."

An hour later the captain announced, "One more engine gone and our
arrival will be delayed another 3 hours. But don't worry . . we still have
one engine left."

A young blonde passenger turned to the man in the next seat and
remarked, "If we lose one more engine, we'll be up here all day."

A blonde suspects her boy-friend of cheating on her, so she goes
out and buys a gun. She goes to his apartment, unexpectally and
when she opens the door she finds him in the arms of a redhead,
Well, the blonde is really angry.

She opens her purse to take out the gun, and as she does so, she
is overcome with grief. She takes the gun and puts it to her head.
The boyfriend yells, "No, honey, don't do it.!!!"

The blonde answers, "Shut up. you're next."

A very attractive lady goes up to the bar in a quiet rural pub. She
gestures alluringly to the bartender who comes over immediately.

She seductively signals that he should bring his face closer to hers.
When he does she begins to gently caress his full beard. ""Are you
the manager?" she asks, softly stroking his face with both hands.

"Actually, no," the man replied.
"Can you get him for me? I need to talk to him," she says, running
her hands beyond his beard and into his hair.
"I'm afraid I can't," said the bartender. "Is there anything I can do?"

"Yes, there is. I need you to give him a message," she continues,
running her forefinger across his lips and slyly popping a couple of
fingers into his mouth, allowing him to suck them gently.

"What should I tell him?" the bartender manages to say?"
"Tell him," she whispers, "there is no toilet paper, hand soap or
paper towels in the ladies room."
<><>

The girl was supposed to write a short story in as few words as
possible for her literary class and the instructions were that it
had to discuss Religion, Sexuality and Mystery.

She was the only one who received an A+ and this is what she
wrote, "Good God, I'm pregnant, I wonder who did it?"

Just a few quotes . . . . to conclude this post.

fairy somewhere that falls down dead. ~ ~James M. Barrie.

Hi Merlie:)

Greetings:)

I am sorry to read that you fell down and there was no one close by to help you. Please be careful. A fall like this can be quite risky. Do what you can and don't over exert yourself.

The enjoyed the jokes specially about the bartender and the lady.

Some of the quotes were very thought provoking.

Daffodils reminded of the poem by William Wordsworth.

Many thanks for informing us about Jeanette's birthday.

Take care Merlie:)

What a bummer, that fall. Glad to know you had a plan for summoning assistance. Take care of yourself. You should know better than to take a lazy man's load. lol

Did stop by and give Jeannete a birthday greeting. She has some beautiful photos on that posting.

Love the wedding, invite me to the marriage.

How many go into into a wedding thinking the marriage will be the same fan fare. Oh it can be mind you , but it takes work. I wish this was better explained to anyone going into marriage. Makes you want to make premarital counseling a must!!

Hope you are recovering after the fall, sometimes the shock sets in later. It did with me when I fell down the back steps. I shrugged it off and then that evening I felt really sick and headachy .
Lovely to read all your little stories... you certainly give value on your post!!!

Oh dear Merle, I'm glad you weren't hurt when you fell. Good thing you had that Safety Pendant. I often leave some of my heavy bottles in my car until later when I can go back.....I'm finding I'm not as strong as I use to be either Merle, especially since my elbow surgery five years ago. Take care sweetie. Love, Joy

Some times I make several trips out to unload the car so I hope you will be more cautious from now on. I am so very happy you had a strong son to upright you and glad to hear you did not suffer from the fall.
Have a wonderful weekend. Peace

Dear Merle, so sorry to hear you fell. You have to be more careful. I know how hard it is to get up without having something to hold onto. Well in my case, I more or less have to throw my body over the chair, get one knee under, and get the foot to a more or less standing flat on the floor, then pull as hard as I can to get my butt up off the floor. It's not easy getting old. LOL But if we don't laugh about it, we would be crying all the time. Next time, please make two trips.

Like I said, I now only carry two bags in from the car trunk at a time, I start with the frozen items, bring them in, unload them into freezer, then bring in two more and so on until everything is put away. I use to bring everything in at one time and set on the kitchen floor then work at putting the items away, and some times it felt like I was making no progress at all. Two bags at a time works so much better for me. But from my car trunk to inside the kitchen door is only about 25 steps, not actually stair steps, but walking steps.

Hope you aren't too stiff and sore from the fall. Have a pleasant week-end. Love, Patty

Well Merle, things aren't going just 1, 2, 3 for you, are they? I am sure better days will come, but if it doesn't you will think these last were pretty good at that. :-)
Not really, I do hope thing get better soon. At least your computer is up and going and your light is hanging in there.

I did like your blonde jokes, especially the airplane one.

I will head now to tell Jen hello and Happy Bday even though it is now Saturday where you all are.

Please try not to fall again (aren't you glad you were wearing that calling device!!)!
Cheers,
..
Oh yes, your family when you were young was cute, the all of you together.

Some days or weeks can really be filled with bad coincidences. These safety pendants are a great invention, we use them here too for people who live alone.
I instead had a wonderful week at the English coast ! I could watch an airshow in Eastbourne, visited many places of this wonderful coast and even spent a day in London before I returned back home. Hope next week will be a good one for you !

Glad your computer troubles are over...I'm lost without mine.

I do hope next week, and the rest of the time, is much better for you.
