Update #4

Hi folks, again its only Peter here, I wish that I had some good news for you but its more of the same and one more complication... Merle had a fall in hospital and is a bit shaken up by it.
No possibility of getting home for Christmas now... there is no structural damage thank goodness but it has shaken her up and sapped her confidence.
John is still delivering her mail so if any of you would like to send her a card let me know and I'll send you an address as soon as we have one, she will be moving into respite care in the next day or so (pre. Christmas) My email is peterholt@netspace.net.au please ensure you give me a useable email address if you want to contact Merle.
As you can well imagine this has put a bit of a damper on the Christmas spirit here but on Merle's behalf I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I'm sad to hear about Merle's fall, but I'm glad she has such wonderful family to take care of her.

Merry Christmas Peter, and please pass along the same to Merle, with a hug from way far away in America.

I had hoped she would get home for Christmas but this is probably a mixed blessing. This way she will have to take it easy and not become concerned about what she can do for others. Yes I would like to send her a card and will email you my email address. Please give her my love and best wishes.

Oh Peter...I'm so sorry to hear that Merle had a fall...but relived it didn't do any further physical damage. I hate thinking that she feels discouraged or shaken up in any way. The main thing is that she gets the treatment and attention she needs right now...so maybe it's better that she's not at home yet. Please give her my love when you talk to her...and I wish her a very Merry Christmas...and you too Peter. Much love, Joy

Hi Merle ~~ I am sad to hear of your fall. They are no fun and also are very embarassing. I fell three times because of my bad knee before my surgery for a new one.

Also I will wish and hope for you a very Merry Christmas. I wish Peter a very Merry Christmas also. He is the kind of good brother that we all need.

Cheers,
..

That's too bad that she won't be home for Christmas but I'm sure her family visits will make it seem as much like home as possible. Happy holidays and best wishes for a better 2012.

Peter, I am so sorry to hear this. Tell her to keep looking on the bright side of things. Will try to get another card in the mail soon. I just wish there was something more I could do. I think of her everyday and wonder how she's doing. Tell her I went through my therapy today, but honestly I don't see an improvement in my back yet. In fact today it was hurting worse then the first week I went. Perhaps it has to get worse before it gets better. Perhaps I could use a walker, I know pushing a shopping cart helps me walk better. Or I'll be needing a cane, not sure which, but if it makes walking easier, I'll try it. Thanks Peter for keeping us informed.

oh, poor Merle, I was hoping she'd make it home for Christmas. Well, maybe by the New Year? Any way, let her know we are all praying for her and thinking about her and hoping good things for her.

Hi Peter thank you for keeping us updated. I'm so sorry Merle had to do Xmas in hospital that must have been difficult.

I'M WRITING HERE TO WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY 2012 MERLE, MAY IT BE FAR BETTER THAN THAT RAGBAG OF A YEAR THEY CALLED 2011 AND TRY AND TAKE IT EASIER THIS YEAR MERLE AND DON'T OVERDO IT, YOU NAUGHTY GIRL!

ALL MY LOVE

I wish I had a snailmail address to write to you in hospital but I expect you'd be out by the time it reached you.

Peter I know you have a lot on your mind but if you do remember to pass on my regards next time you see your sister I'd be ever so grateful.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL
