Nelson Mandela.

Post 76 - - - - - Saturday, 25 November 2006

Hello Everyone ~ I hope all is well with you and that you have recovered from the feasts that were consumed over the

Thanksgiving holiday. Even the leftovers sounded delicious.

I have had some fun today with ants coming inside, which I do

not appreciate. I have sprayed, laid baits and cleaned up as much as possible. This happens about once a year and often

just before Christmas. Maybe they are coming in out of the

heat, and as there are a lot more of them, I hope I am not

fighting a losing battle. No way, I WILL win !!!

Tonight I have a speech by Nelson Mandela that I liked.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It’s our Light not our darkness that frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,

talented and fabulous ?

Actually who are you not to be ? You are a child of God.

Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking

So that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the Glory of God

that is within us.

It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.

And when we let our own light shine,

We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear,

Our presence automatically liberates others.

Now for some jokes - - - -

“Jill,” a teacher reprimanded the teenager in the hall, “do you mind telling me whose class you’re cutting this time ?”

“Like,” the young teen replied, “uh, see, okay, like it’s like I really don’t think like that’s very important. y’know, like because I’m y’know, like I don’t get anything out of it.”

“It’s English class, isn’t it ?” replied the smiling teacher.

An eighth-grade teacher was leading a discussion on the qualifications for being President of the United States.

After the teacher commented that a person must be a natural-born citizen, one of the students raised her hand.

“Does that mean that if you were born by Caesarean section that you can’t be President ?”

<><><><>

Doctor to Patient being prepared for an operation, “We’re going to have to knock you out. Would you like anesthetic or a peek at your bill ?”

<><><><>

Patient 1. The doctor said he’d have me on my feet within 2

weeks.

Patient 2. And did he ?

Patient 1. Sure. I had to sell my automobile.

Smoking kills. If you’re killed, you’ve lost a very important part of your life. - - - Brooke Shields, during an interview to become spokesperson for a federal anti-smoking campaign.

<><><><>

A man is boasting to his buddies that he is taking his wife to Rome for their 40th wedding anniversary.

“What will you do for your 50th ?” one of them asks.

“I’ll go and get her.”

<><><><>

The elephants and insects were playing a game of soccer. By half-time the elephants had a convincing lead.

During the second half the centipede came on for the insects and kicked goal after goal from all directions.

At the end of the game the insects had beaten the elephants

100 to 20. As the teams came off, the elephant team asked the centipede why he waited so long to come on to play.

The centipede replied, “ Because it took me the first half just

to put my boots on.”

Gidday Merle,
You think you have problems with ants ha come to Wazzasplace (no, not the blog, the house) and I'll show you ants...the little buggers. Up here I think it must be the dry spell as they're after water. They even get in my jug 'cos when I boil water for a cuppa and pour the water in my cup and add milk...guess what there's a bunch of the little bugger floating in my tea. Oh well they don't taste too bad and also they don't drink all that much. Ah, you gotta laugh.

Good luck with the ants - this time of year we have trouble with "lady bugs" - small beetles that are beneficial outside, but a pest when they come in out of the cold. The one about being "a natural born citizen" really cracked me up. ec

Good luck with your attack on those ants Merle....they can be such a pain in the butt. We've had a few on occasion too. You never know when they're going to show up, but it seems like they show up in the hotter weather. Take care...
