Celebrate the New Year.

Post 101 - - - - - Sunday, 31 December 2006.

Hello Everyone ~~ I hope you are all doing well, enjoying life and ready

to welcome in 2007. Let’s hope it is a good one for all of us, and for all

of those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Peace would be a great

place to start, as I think we would all agree.

Well I have had a fun time since my last post, written Friday and posted

after midnight. I was unable to get to Blogger dashboard. “They” kept

saying “User account not found.” Anyway, for the time being, all is well.

I had my first Blogiversary on 28th December. My brother, Peter set up

Herons Nest as a Christmas present for me and I was not at all sure that

I would embrace it. However after 252 posts on Herons Nest, and now

100 on Third Try, I think I have taken to it quite well. While I do not live

an exciting life and have great stories, like so many of my blogging friends,

apparently there is a place for me and my few stories and jokes.

Thank you to all my friends who have supported me over the last year.

I look on so many of you as special friends, even though we will never meet.

So let us all have a great year in 2007. It is only 6 hours away in Australia

and I have no plans to go out. After all, someone has to stay home to put

up the new calendars !!!!

<><><><>

I have chosen a poem “Celebrate the New Year” (surprisingly)

Let us all gather round and cheer,

With a drink of wine or an ice cold beer.

Perhaps you’re like me and don’t drink the swill,

Or you’re like my grandparents who live on pills.

Maybe ths world seems harsh at times,

Or it’s just that most of us just like to whine.

I’d say that this is a great place to be,

It all depends on how we can see.

True we’ve had bad things in the past,

But we know in our hearts that these will not last.

If we try our best to be simple and pure,

There’s nothing our hopes and dreams cannot cure.

So I don’t now the value this is worth,

But let’s all try to be happy and heal Mother Earth !!

Happy New Year.

Happy New Year Wish - - - - By Joanna Fuchs.

My Happy New Year wish for you

is for your best year yet,

A year where life is peaceful,

And what you want, you get.

A year in which you cherish

the past year’s memories,

And live your life each new day

Full of bright expectancies.

I wish for you a holiday

With happiness galore;

And when it’s done, I wish you

Happy New Year, and many more.

Now for some jokes, folks - - - -

There was a man who worked at the Post Office whose job it was to process

all the mail that had illegible addresses. One day, a letter came addressed, in

shaky handwriting, to God with no actual address. He thought he would open

it to see what it was about. The letter read - - -

“Dear God, I am an 83 year old widow, living on a small pension. Yesterday,

someone stole my purse. It had $100 in it, which was all the money I had until my pension check. Next Sunday is Christmas, and I had invited two friends over for dinner. Without that money, I have nothing to buy food with. I have no family to turn to, and you are my only hope. Can you please help me? Sincerely, Edna.”

The postal worker was touched and showed the letter to all the other workers. Each one dug into his or her wallet and came up with a few dollars. By the time he made the rounds, he had collected $96, which he put in an envelope and sent to the woman.

The rest of the day, all the workers felt a warm glow thinking of Edna and the dinner she would be able to share with her friends. Christmas came and went and a few days later, another letter came from the same old lady, addressed to God.

All the workers gathered around while the letter was opened. It read - - - “Dear God.

How can I ever thank you enough for what you did for me? Because of your gift of love,

I was able to fix a glorious dinner for my friends. We had a very nice day and I told my friends of your wonderful gift. By the way, there was $4 missing. I think it must have been those rotten sods at the Post Office. Sincerely yours, Edna.”

Our friend Wazza from Wazzasplace sent me the next ones, Thanks Warren It is called “Red Skelton’s Recipe for the Perfect Marriage.”

They are very funny.

1. Two times a week we go to a nice restaurant, have a little beverage,

good food and companionship. She goes on Tuesdays, I go on Fridays.

2. We also sleep in separate beds. Hers is in California and mine is in Texas.

3. I take my wife everywhere --- but she keeps finding her way back.

4. I asked my wife where she wanted to go for our anniversary. “Somewhere I haven’t been in a long time,” she said. So I suggested
the kitchen.

5. We always hold hands. If I let go, she shops.

6. She has an electric blender, electric toaster and electric bread maker. She said, “There are too many gadgets and no place to sit down.” So I bought her an electric chair.

7. My wife told me the car wasn’t running well because there was water in the carburettor. I asked where the car was; she told me, “In the lake.”

8. She got a mud pack and looked great for two days. Then the mud fell off.

9. She ran after the garbage truck, yelling, “Am I too late for the garbage?” - - - The driver said, “No, jump in !!”

10. Remember : Marriage is the number one cause of divorce.

11. I married Miss Right. I just didn’t know her first name was Always.

12. I haven’t spoken to my wife in 18 months. I don’t like to interrupt her.

13. The last fight we had was my fault though. My wife asked, “What’s on the TV?”

I said, “Dust !!”

<><><><> Some good ones there Warren and no editing needed !!! <><><><>

What letters are not in the Alphabet? The ones in the Post Office.

How many men does it take to change a roll of toilet paper?

It is not known. It hasn’t happened yet.

Where does a worm go in a corn field? In one ear and out the other.

The only time a man takes a bubble bath is after he has had beans for dinner.

What are the reasons that women don’t mind their own business?

No Mind………..No Business !!!

<><><><>

A few quotes from the Christmas Bon-bons ---

Laugh and the world laughs with you. Weep and you weep alone.

Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.

The quickest way to do many things is to only do one thing at once.

One today is worth two tomorrows, never leave until tomorrow what you
can do today.

No trumpets sound when the important decisions of our life are made. Destiny is made known silently.

I am grateful for all my problems. As each is overcome, I become stronger and more able to meet those yet to come. I grow on my difficulties.

Well, my friends, that is it for this New Year’s Eve. I hope you are all enjoying the festivities and not getting into too much strife. Take great care, and a very Happy New Year. Merle.

Happy New Year, Merle... and thanks for dropping by my site :-) I've bookmarked yours and will be sure to check in. I've always wanted to visit Australia... hopefully we will get the chance to do that (lol...maybe when I finally finish that book, it will be picked up by an international publisher and they will send me on a book tour to Australia!) I'll be checking back in. Thanks for the jokes. I'm planning on sharing them with hubby when he wakes up.... esp. the Red Skelton ones. He was such a funny man.

Again, have a blessed New Year!

He was impressed Merle, I haven't heard him laugh like he did tonight in a long time. It was great. We especially liked the ones from Warren! lol
