Realize the Value.

Post 84 - - - - - Monday, 4th December, 2006.

Hello Everyone ~~ Back again with some more goodies,
I hope. Peter has “fixed” my last post by adding color
and also a photo of my cousin Bill and me after the
funeral of our cousin, Peter. This was a surprise to me,
John rang and said it looked good ~ as he would because
he took the photo !! We were just leaving; see those hills
in the background; it is a very pretty little town that is
surrounded by mountains.

I like the name of the place, Mt. Beauty. Bill is the cousin
who said, “these funerals are OK, so long as one is not the
main attraction !!” He looks good to me for 78, and Doctors are
just watching the cancer with blood tests, every 3 months.

I hope things are going well for everyone, and blogger not
giving too much bother. Apparently there are a few problems
at the moment. I hope they soon get their act together for
all our sakes.

Today has been a fun day ?? as I had to go to have an ultra-
sound and mammogram, just for a check-up, I hope. After
that I went to get a few more things for Christmas, and then
a third taxi home. Busy, busy, busy !! But I have got most of
it done now. Next job is wrapping etc. Garden looks great !!

A friend of long standing (as opposed to an old friend) sent
me some nice items by e mail. Tonight, “Realize the Value.”

To realize
The value of a sister
Ask someone
Who doesn't have one.

To realize
The value of ten years:
Ask a newly
Divorced couple.

To realize
The value of four years:
Ask a graduate.

To realize
The value of one year:
! Ask a student who
Has failed a final exam.

To realize
The value of nine months:
Ask a mother who gave birth to a stillborn.

To realize
The value of one month:
Ask a mother
who has given birth to
A premature baby.

To realize
The value of one week:
Ask an editor of a weekly newspaper.

To realize
The value of one minute:
Ask a person
Who has missed the train, bus or plane.

To realize
The value of one-second:
Ask a person
Who has survived an accident.

Time waits for no one.

Treasure every moment you have.

You will treasure it even more when
you can share it with someone special.

To realize the value of a friend or family member:
LOSE ONE.

The origin of this letter is unknown,
But it brings good luck to everyone who passes it on.

Do not keep this letter.
Send it to friends & family to whom you wish good luck
and don't forget the one who sent it to you!

Peace, love and prosperity to all!

Remember...
hold on tight to the ones you Love

I hope you liked that. Now for some jokes - - -

Signs that You are Getting Old !!

You sink your teeth in a steak and they stay there.
You read the obituaries to find eligible women.
Old ladies offer to help you across the street.
College kids call you Mister.
Everything hurts, and what doesn’t hurt doesn’t work.
The gleam in your eye is from the sun hitting your bifocals.
You have all the answers but nobody is asking you the questions
You sit in a rocking chair and can’t get it going.
After climbing the ladder of success and reaching the top, you
realize that it was leaning on the wrong wall.
After painting the town red, you need to take a long rest
before applying a second coat.

You know you are old when you have owned an album for 2 or more decades
in 4 different formats.
In 1973 – 8 track tape
In 1978 – vinyl
In 1985 – cassette tape
In 1994 – CD.

A guy walks into a psychiartrists and says, “Doctor, doctor,
you’ve got to help me. I keep thinking that I am a deck of cards !”
The shrink says, “Sit over there and I’ll deal with you later.”

<><><>

Doctor : What’s the condition of the boy who swallowed the quarter ?
Nurse : No change yet.

<><><>

Doctor : You only have six months to live.
Man : I can’t pay the bill.
Doctor : Alright, I’ll give you another six months.

An Irishman walka into a bar in Dublin, orders three pints of Guinness and
sits in the back of the room, drinking a sip out of each one.
When he finished all three, he comes back to the bar and orders three more.
The bartender says to him, “You know, a pint goes flat after I
draw it. It would taste better if you bought one at a time.”

The Irishman replies, “Well, you see, I have two brothers. One is in America,
the other in Australia and I’m here in Dublin. When we all left home, we promised
that we would all drink this way to remember the days we all drank together.”

The bartender admits that this is a nice custom, and leaves it there. The Irishman
becomes a regular in the bar and always drinks the same way. He orders 3 pints and
drinks them by taking a drink from each of them in turn

One day he comes in and orders two pints.

All the other regulars notice and fall silent.

When he comes back to the bar for the second round, the
bartender says, “I don’t want to intrude on your grief, but I wanted to
offer my condolences on your great loss.”

The Irishman looks confused for a moment, then a light dawns
in his eye and he laughs.

“Oh, no,” he says, “Everyone is fine. It’s me . . . .
“ . . . I’ve quit drinking. !!”

There were 3 race horses standing in a paddock talking.
The first one by the name of Gov said, “Look here. I won
one out of 5 races.”

“Well,” said the second horse, Lightning, “I won 2 out of
five races.

And then the third horse Double Dutch said, “I won 3 out
of five races.
“Wouldn’t it be great if someone could win 5 out of 5 ?”
Gov said. The other two agreed.

A greyhound named Ben, who just happened to be passing by,
heard them talking and said : “Well I won six out of six races.”

All the horses were simply amazed . “WOW,” they all said
together. “A dog that talks !!”

This was in the local paper -- We bet you didn’t know . . .

That 111 111 111 multiplied by 111 111 111 equals a palindrome
(something that reads the same backwards and forwards)
nimber 12 345 678 987 654 321.

I will skip the quotes tonight as this is getting too long, sorry.
Take care my friends and be happy. Cheers, Merle.

Thanks, Merle, for the “To realize” lines and the jokes. BTW, my Monday jokes are posted to the blog; you must have gotten there just before I put them up.

Good photo - great background scenery also. It is good that Bill has a sense of humor about life, that helps extend it, at least the happiness of it. Hopefully your tests are good - and your shopping mostly done - wow, way ahead of me. ec

Hi Merle,
I did realise I was getting old when my 9 year old daughter found a box of vinyl records and I had to explain what they were. Her comment - is that what they had in the olden days when you were little.
Take care

Oh no. I am old. I was given some of my sibling's old 8-Tracks and I actually do have some of the songs on CDs now. That's harsh, Merle. LOL I'm coming up on a mile-stone birthday in a couple of months, that hurts. ;-)

The value poem got to me - right to the heart. Thanks for sharing it.

Have a wonderful day and take care! Love & hugs!
