Change of Plans.

Post 107 - - - - Tuesday, 9th January, 2007.

G'day Everyone, Back to blogger again. I usually type my posts in Word and then paste them over to Blogger, but as that isn't working at present, this will have to do.
I hope all is well with you all and your families. I am OK, but a little disappointed as I
am unable to go to Sandra's funeral. It was a heck of a big ask for Geoff to come all this way and then way down the coast and then bring me home, and he has a family engagement tonight, so won't be able to come and stay tonight. Never mind, I have spoken to her sister again tonight and most days since she lost her sister. She is doing fine and will have others there to support her, and will come visit me again soon, and no doubt we will breakfast in the gazebo together.
I have been for my fortnightly shopping trip today and haven't forgotten anything !!
At present I am watching a short version of the game of cricket, called 20-20 which
means each team has only 20 overs (of 6 balls each) to bat. So they try to score very
quickly and so get out more often than in long games. Aust v England again.

Now to find something to post - - I found a lovely verse in a Friendship Book
by Francis Gay. I used to get one every year for years, with a thought for each day.

I'd like to be the sort of friend that you have been to me,
I'd like to be the help that you are always glad to be;
I'd like to mean as much to you, each minute of the day
As you have meant, good friend of mine, to me along the way.
I'm wishing at this special time that I could but repay
A portion of the gladness that you've strewn along my way.
If I could have a single wish, this only would it be ---
I'd like to be the sort of friend that you have been to me.

<><><> Nice one !! Now some jokes - - -

One day, a little boy visited a doctor for a vaccination. After the doctor gave him the
injection, he tried to bandage the boy's arm.

"I think you'd better bandage the other arm, doc, " said the boy.
"But why? I'm supposed to bandage the injected part of your arm to let your friends
know not to touch it." "Doc, you don't know my friends !!"

The teacher asked the little girl if she was going to the Maypole dance.
"No, I ain't going," was the reply.
The teacher corrected the child : "You must not say, I ain't going, you must say, I am
not going. And she added to impress the point : I am not going. He is not going.
We are not going. You are not going. They are not going. Now, dear, can you say all that?"
The little girl nodded and smiled brightly. "Sure !" she replied.
" They ain't nobody going."

A lawyer was reading out the will of a rich man to the people mentioned in the will :
"To you, my loving wife Rose, who stood by me in rough times, as well as good, I
leave her the house and$2 million."

The lawyer continued, "To my daughter, Jessica, who looked after me in sickness and kept the business going, I leave her the yacht, the business and $1 million."

The lawyer concluded, "And to my cousin Dan, who hated me, argued with me, and thought I would never mention him in my will -- well, you are wrong, Hi Dan !!"

On vacation, a woman and her husband had to make an emergency visit to a dentist.
"I want a tooth pulled," the woman demanded. "And don't bother with the Novacain
either, because we are really in a hurry. Just take the tooth out and we'll be on our way." The dentist was impressed. "You're certainly a very brave woman! Which tooth is it ?"
The woman pushed her husband forward, "Show him your tooth, dear."

Q. What's the definition of mixed emotions?
A. When you see your mother-in-law backing off a cliff in your new car.

Q. Why do chicken coops have two doors?
A. Because if it had four doors it would be a chicken sedan.

Enough for tonight, my friends, stay well and happy. Cheers, Merle.

Bad luck Geoff couldn't make it up to take you to Sandra's funeral but it would have been a lot for him to fit in.
I would think about doing all your posts from blogger Merle, they are set out better than MOST were when done in Word, you should also try posting photos and/or pictures it's so simple to do, read your notes!!

Merle, I am sure your cousin understands, especially given the circumstance. I am so glad she will be able to visit once again. :)

I enjoyed the brave wife volunteering her hubby for no Novocain! Yikes!
Guess, I should count my blessings this week at the Dentist.

Enjoy your day, and hope Blogger straightens up! :)

Hi Merle, I'm sorry you can't attend your cousin's funeral. But it's great that you can ring her sister and talk about things together.

I loved the friendship poem. There are friends for whom you feel that kind of love, aren't there?

Keep well, Merle.

Hugs xoxo
