On Line Friends.

Post 116 - - - - - Thursday, 18 th January, 2007.

Hi Everyone
~~ Well we got the magnificent amount of rain --2 mms - not very much at all. And it turned the day into a very humid one -- like they have in Queensland and they are not to my liking. However I am surviving and the better news is there was more rain where the fires are, so that was good.

I hope you are all doing well, those not so well, I hope they are comfortable and keeping warm or cool as the case may be. It is a great pity, we cannot swap a few degrees with one another, as my friend Ruth suggested in a comment. The seasons will change, before we know it.

The piece I have chosen tonight is called "On Line Friends." Sent by a friend.
Thank you again Linda.

I had some free time, so what did I do?
I checked the computer to see if I'd heard from you.

I used to walk out to a box to retrieve mail,
But I'd rather get it instantly, than wait on the snail.

Checking my e-mail is always fun !
I usually get a joke or greeting from someone.

I feel so blessed because on the other end,
I know I've connected with a friend !

When I've had a hard day and need to share,
Here I can find a friend who will listen and care.

And to this friend I hope I've let them know
That I am always there for them also !

Isn't it a strange bond we form?
It isn't exactly like the "norm."

That little joke or note, or a simple "Hi,"
Could be like a ray of sunshine from the sky !

So my online pals, this is dedicated to you,
For all the smiles you have made anew !

May our friendship continue to grow,
And the warmth we feel continue to flow !

Always remember this .......
A smile is an easy thing to pass along the way,
Like a ray of summer sunshine,
On a somewhat gloomy day !!

Thank you for being my Online Friends !!!

Now to find a few jokes - - - -

With a couple celebrating their 50th anniversary at the church's marriage marathon,
the minister asked Brother Ralph to take a few minutes and share some insight into how he managed to live with the same woman all these years.

The husband replied to the audience : "Well, I treated her with respect, spent money on her, but mostly I took her travelling on special occasions.

The minister inquired : "Trips to where?"
"Well for our 25th anniversary, I took her to Beijing, China."
The minister then said : "What a terrific example you are to all husbands Ralph."

"Please tell the audience what you're going to do for your wife on your 50th anniversary."
Brother Ralph : "I'm going to go get her."

A blonde supermodel was taking her first cruise aboard a luxury liner.

On checking the passenger list, the captain realised a person of fame was on board and sent a cabin boy to her room with a message inviting her to dine with him at the
captain's table.

"No way," she snapped at the messenger.

"Tell your captain that I booked this trip months in advance, I paid the full fare just like everybody else and I'm damned if I'm going to start eating with the crew."

A guy walks into a bar and approaches the barman.
"Can I have a pint of Less, please?" he asks.
"I'm sorry, sir," the barman says looking slightly puzzled, "I've not come across that one. Is it a spirit?"

"I've no idea," says the guy. "The thing is my doctor told me last week, that I should drink Less."

A little boy asked his mother a question. "Mum, where did I come from?"
"From under a cbage, dear."
"And where did you come rom, Mum?" "The stork brought me."
"And Grandpa?" "The stork brought him too."

"Mum, doesn't it worry you to think that there have been no natural births in our
family for three generations?"

The poeme of your friend is very nice ! It really says everything. And then I had to laugh about your happyness for a few drops of rain while I am sitting here and it rains cats and dogs ! On top of it we have an awful storm right now, 125km/h and the wind whistles, blows and storms around the house. My poor cats look a little worried. There probably will be quite some damages. The weather in the whole world gets crazy !

Hi Merle

Believe or not, this summer Queensland hasn't had the humidity that usually comes with our summers. It's been quite cool - about 28 or 30-ish, rather than closer to 40. On the other hand, we've had so little rain, I'm surprised we've had no bad bushfires. Everything is tinder dry.

It's good that rain fell on the bushfires in Gippsland. Those poor fireys. One went home and his house had been lost to fire!

Enjoy your day and I hope it doesn't get too humid for you.

Hugs

Hi Merle, as Robyn said our summer has been very mild so far, a few nasty days but no where near as many as you have had in Victoria... and very few fires.

Merle, so glad you got a little bit of rain finally! Too bad it brings the humidity with it, something we live with on a daily basis here in Florida!

Loved the joke about the 50th, although it did take me a bit to realize that what he was going to do is go get his wife having left her in China! lol Enjoy your day! :)
