True Love.

Post 117 - - - - - Friday, 20 th January, 2007.

Hi Everyone ~~ Another short drop of rain and more humidity. Live in hope we will get some real rain, while it is hanging around. Time will tell.
I hope everything is going well for you all, and life is looking good, with the weekend
just ahead of us. I hope you all have a great one. I hope to have an enjoyable one.

Birthday alert - - - Our friend Robyn of Puss in Boots has her birthday on the 20th
Have a wonderful day Robyn. Why not pop over and say Hi. ?

It is also 5 years since we lost our Dad and he will be missed always.

Tonight's story is called "True Love." Hope you enjoy. Thanks again Linda.

It was a busy morning, approximately 8.30 am, when an elderly gentleman in his 80s
arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He stated he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9.00 am.

I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would be able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, and got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.

While taking care of his wound, we began to engage in conversation. I asked him if he had a doctor's appointment this morning as he was in such a hurry.
The gentleman told me no, he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I then inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a
while, and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's Disease.

As we talked, and I finished dressing his wound, I asked if she would be worried if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now.
I was surprised, and asked him, "And you still go every morning, even though
she doesn't know who you are ?"

He smiled as he patted my hand and said, "She doesn't know me, but I still
know who she is."

I had to hold back tears as he left. I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought,
"That's the kind of love I want in my life."

True love is neither physical or romantic.
True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been,, will be, and will not be.

Oh by the way, peace is seeing a sunset and knowing who to thank.

"The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just
make the best of everything that comes along their way."

Please share this with someone you care about -- I JUST DID.

The first joke tonight was sent to me by our friend Sue at susie-sspace. Thanks Sue.

Football FINALLY made sense - - - - A guy took his blonde girlfriend to her first
football game. They had great seats right behind their team's bench. After the game, he asked her how she liked the experience.

"Oh, I really liked it," she replied, "especially the tight pants and all the big muscles,
but I just couldn't understand why they were killing each other over 25 cents.
Dumbfounded, her date asked her, "What do you mean?"

"Well they flipped a coin, one team got it and then for the rest of the game, all they
kept screaming was 'Get the quarterback ! Get the quarterback !'
I'm like -- - - Helloooooo? It's only 25 cents.

And for something different --- An exercise program. Thanks to Warren.

New exercise routine. If you are over 40, you might want to take it easy at first,
then do it faster as you become more proficient. It may be too strenuous for some.

Always
consult your doctor before starting any exercise program.

NOW SCROLL UP. . .

That's enough for the first day. Great job. Have a beer !!!

A man walks into a bar, sits down and orders a drink.
The barman gives him a drink and a bowl of peanuts.
To the man's surprise, a voice comes from the peanut bowl -
"You look great tonight."it said.
"You look really fantastic and that aftershave is just wonderful."

The man is obviously a little confused, but tries to ignore it.
Realising he has no cigarettes, he wanders over to the cigarette machine. . . .
"You loser, my gosh, you stink," the machine says to him.

By now the man is extremely perplexed and turns to the barman for an explanation.
"Ah, yes sir," the barman says, "The peanuts were complimentary, but the cigarette machine is out of order."

Amazing !! You hang something n your closet for a while and it shrinks two sizes.

Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along comes today.

For Sale: Parachute. Only used once, never opened, small stain.

If everything seems to be going well, you've obviously overlooked something.

Many people quit looking for work when they find a job.

Evening News is where they begin with 'Good Evening" and then proceed to tell
you why it isn't.

That is enough for tonight. Take care friends, Have a great weekend. Merle.

Thanks, Merle, for the love story and the jokes. You need rain? I’ll ask a friend of mine who is a Native American shaman if he’ll do a rain dance for you.

I wish I could send you some rain ! we have more than enough of it here ! We didn't have any damages but the storm was quite rough 47 people killed in northern Europe ! The worst was in Germany with a wind of sometimes 200 km/h ! We only had two people killed by falling trees. In the UK it also was very very bad !
