A Wonderful Story.

Post 113 - - - - - Monday, 15 th January, 2007.

Hi Everyone ~~ I hope this finds you quite a lot cooler than I am at present at 37C.
And just to make it interesting the power went off AGAIN, only for about a half hour
this time, just enough to stop 3 clocks and the one on the microwave. Enough of that
as there are much worse things happening elsewhere.

I hope that you are all keeping well and are not too frozen in the Northern Hemisphere.

A friend sent me tonight's story. I hope you like it. Thanks Linda.

A nurse took the tired, anxious serviceman to the bedside. "Your son is here," she said to the old man. She had to repeat the words several times before the parient's eyes opened.

Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he dimly saw the young
uniformed Marine standing outside the oxygen tent. He reached out his hand.
The Marine wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man's limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement.

The nurse brought a chair so that the young Marine could sit bside the bed. All through the night the young Marine sat there in the poorly lighted ward, holding the old man's hand and offering him words of love and strength. Occasionally, the nurse
suggested that the Marine move away and rest awhile.

He refused. Whenever the nurse came into the ward, the Marine was oblivious of her and the night noises of the hospital - the clanking of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging greetings, the cries and moans of
the other patients.

Now and then she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man said nothing,
only held tightly to his son all through the night. Along towards dawn, the old man
died. The Marine released the now lifeless hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse. While she did what she had to do, he waited.

Finally she returned. She started to offer words of sympathy, but the Marine interrupted her. "Who was that man?" he asked.

The nurse was startled, "He was your father," she answered.

"No, he wasn't," the Marine replied. "I never saw him before in my life."

"Then why didn't you say something when I took you to him?"

"I knew right away there had been a mistake, but I also knew he needed his son, and
his son just wasn't here. When I realized that he was too sick to tell whether or not I was his son, knowing how much he needed me, I stayed."

The next time smeone needs you - - - just be there. Stay.

We are not human beings going through a tempary spiritual experience.
We are spiritual beings going through a temporary human experience.

Walk in peace !! Take care and God Bless.
Faith is not knowing that God "can"; it is knowing that God "will".

Now for some jokes - - - The first one my brother Peter posted recently.

Perfect Children.

An exraordinarily handsome man decided he had the responsibility to marry the perfect woman so they could produce beautiful children beyond compare.

With that as his mission he began to search for the perfect woman.

Shortly there after he met a Redneck who had three stunning, gorgeous daughters
that positively took his breath away. So he explained his mission to the Redneck and
asked for permission to marry one of them.

The Redneck simply replied, " They're looking to get married, so you came to the right place. Look 'em over and pick the one you want."

The man dated the first daughter.
The next day the Redneck asked for the man's opinion.

"Well," said the man, " she's just a weeeee bit, not that you can notice - pigeon toed."

The Redneck nodded and suggested the man date one of the other girls; so the man went out with the second daughter.
The next day the Redneck again asked how things went.

"Well," said the man, "she's just a weeeee bit, not that you can hardly tell -cross-eyed."

The Redneck nodded and suggested he date the third girl to see if things might be better So he did.

The next morning the man rushed in exclaiming, "She's perfect, just perfect. She's the one I want to marry."

So they wed right away. Months later the baby was born.
When the man visited the nursery he was horrified....the baby was the ugliest, most
pathetic human you can imagine.

He rushed to his father-in-law and asked how such a thing could happen considering the beauty of the parents.

"Well," explained the Redneck . . . "She was just a weeeee bit, not that you could hardly tell. . . . pregnant when you met her."

A wise man once said, "If you keep doing what you've always done - - - you'll
keep getting what you've got,"

A man is never drunk if he can lay down on the floor without holding on.

Use dead people as references. They usually wont bad-mouth you.

If you act crazy long enough and you talk crazy enough, people will begin to
think you are crazy - - and that includes you.

A woman is in bed with her lover, who happens to be her husband's best friend.
After making love for hours, while they are lying there, the phone rings.

Since it is the woman's house, she picks up the receiver. Her lover looks at her and
listens to her side of the conversation.

In a cheery voice, se says, "Hello. Oh Hi. I'm glad you called. Really? That's
wonderful, I'm so happy for you. That sounds terrific. Great. Thanks. OK. Bye."

She hangs up, and her lover asks who was on the phone.
She replies, " That was my husband telling me all about the wonderful time he is
having with you on his fishing trip."

Just one quote tonight as this is getting too long - -

"Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art . . . It has no survival value;
rather it is one of those things that give value to survival." - - - C. S. Lewis.

Bye for now folks. Take care of each other. Cheers, Merle.

Our temps are about the same, we are 36, you are 37. The main difference is that ours is F and yours is C. Reminds me of a story I can't remember very good.
You might never be drunk if you can lay down on the floor without holding on but I wouldn't like to be with you when you are driving!
I hope you don't run out of all those goodies any time soon.
