The Bell.

Post 133 - - - - - - Tuesday, 6th February, 2007.

Hi Everyone
~~ I hope you are all doing well. I am doing much better today as it has been much cooler and I have had my fortnightly shopping trip. I had all sorts of bother yesterday, could not comment or post as my line kept going down every few minutes. So it is really nice to be back to normal.

Tonight I have a nice story sent by a friend of long standing, as opposed to an old friend. Barbara and I have been friends since we were teenagers, and we are both
well past that now. We haven't seen each other for many years, but keep in touch.

The Bell.
I really hope you take the time to read it all. I've held many things in my hands, and
I have lost many of them; but whatever I've placed in God's hands, I still possess.
Just up the road from my home is a field with two horses in it. From a distance, each
looks like every other horse. But if you stop your car or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing.

Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him. This alone is amazing. If nearby and listening, you will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around
for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field.

Attached to her halter is a small bell. It lets her blind friend know where she is, so he can follow her. As you stand and watch these two friends, you'll see how she is always checking on him, and that he will listen for her bell and then slowly walk to where she is, trusting that she will not lead him astray.

When she returns to the shelter of the barn each evening she stops occasionally and
looks back, making sure her friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell.

Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away just because we are
not perfect or because we have problems or challenges. God watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in need.

Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell of those who
God places in our lives. Other times we are the guide horse, helping others see.
Good friends are like this. You don't always see them, but you know they are always there.

Please listen for my bell and I'll listen for yours. - - - Author Unknown.

How to do Business.

Father : I want you to marry the girl of my choice.
Son : I will choose my own bride.

Father : But the girl is Bill Gates's daughter.
Son : Well in that case . . . OK.

Next Father approaches Bill Gates.

Father : I have a husband for your daughter.
Bill Gates : But my daughter is too young to marry.

Father : But this young man is a vice-president of the World Bank.
Bill Gates : Ah, in that case ..... OK

Finally Father goes to see the President of the World Bank.

Father : I have a young man to be recommended as a vice president.
President : But I already have more vice-presidents than I need.

Father : But this young man is Bill Gates's son-in-law.
President : Ah, in that case..... OK.

This is how business is done !!!

This one came from my friend Margaret called "Ain't it the truth?" Thanks Margaret

A woman goes to the doctor for her yearly physical. The nurse starts with certain basic items. "How much do you weigh?" she asks, "115," she says.
The nurse puts her on the scales and it turns out her weight is 140.

The nurse asks, "Your height?" "5 foot 8," she says.
The nurse checks and sees that she only measures 5'5"

She then takes her blood pressure and tells the woman it is very high.

"Of course it's high !" she screams. "When I came in here I was tall and slender.
Now, I'm short and fat !!"

Noah's Ark. Everything I need to know, I learned from Noah's Ark.

1. Don't miss the boat.
2. Remember we are all in the same boat.
3. Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.
4. Stay fit. When you are 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something big.
5. Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
6. Build your future on high ground.
7. For safety's sake, travel in pairs.
8. Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.
9. When you are stressed, float awhile.
10. Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
11. No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting.

Bill had always been a prankster. As each of his friends were married, Bill made sure some type of practical joke was played on them. Now ready to be married himself, he was dreading the payback he knew was coming.

Surprisingly, the ceremony went off without a hitch. No one stood up during the pause to offer a reason 'why this couple should not be married'. His reception wasn't
disrupted by streakers or strippers, and the car the couple was to take on their honeymoon was in perfect working order.

When the couple arrived at their hotel and entered the room, Bill even checked for
cornflakes in the bed (a gag he had always loved). Nothing, it seemed was amiss.
Satisfied that he had come away unscathed, the couple fell into bed.

Upon waking, the couple was ravenous so Bill called down to room service and asked,
"I'd like to order breakfast for two."

At that moment, a soft voice from under the bed said, " Make that five !!"

G'day Merle.
As always, I'm here to read and enjoy your posts.

I'm actually laughing out loud, literally with the new dress and Satan.

And ya know? I really liked the 'reaping of character' proverb.

Well said.

Today, I'm sharing a video of my backyard statuary in South Texas...perhaps you'd enjoy viewing it?

Have a great day.

Hi Merle my Aussie friend,
Truly enjoyed the story about the bell and copied it for future reference should I be called on to give a speech. Nothing like a good old shopping spree to cheer up the day, right? Have a nice day.

Good morning, Merle...another lovely day up here, but very dry. I've just been out watering my potted and hanging plants and putting a bit around on the other plants. I wish it would rain...we need some of what North Queensland is getting!

Our weather has warmed up but now we have rain. Can't win.

I loved the story about the two horses.

If you don't see a post from me for a while, it's because Blogger is forcing me to switch. I can't even get into my own blog.

Merle,

I loved this batch of goodies...and in particular "The Bell." What a beautiful message.

Are you staying cool? That's not a problem here. 7 degrees right now..but the sun is out. No more snow right now...just the frigid temps.

Thinking of you dear friend... Hugs, Joy
