Hospital Window.

Post 155 - - - - - Friday, 2nd March, 2007.

Hi Everyone ~~I hope everything is going well in your part of the world. I am fine,
and went to the Urologist this afternoon and he has decided to solve my problem on
Monday with a procedure at the Private Hospital in Shepparton on Monday under
General Anaesthetic. So hopefully, I will be feeling much better by Tuesday. I am glad that it is all getting done so quickly and I will be better by the time Peter arrives later in the month. Remembering that he has an eye operation on 27th March. We can look at it like we are falling apart, or that we will both be brand new !!

Sorry about the wingdings last night, I don't know why. And thanks to our friend
Raggedy who translated it for us. I will put Olive 's link in again as she is so amazing
just to be alive at 107, let alone so bright.

This has been posted before, but as Gwen and Jeanette both sent it today, I must be meant to post it. Thanks girls !! It is called "Hospital Window."

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs.
His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time
flat on is back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and
families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, and where
they had been on vacation.

Every afternoon when the man in the bed near the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his room-mate all the things he could see outside.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world
would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the
distance.

As the man at the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by.Although
the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it, in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

Days and weeks passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed.

It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased room-mate who had described such wonderful things outside the window.

The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.
She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."

Epilogue :
There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.

Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.

If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.

Today is a gift, that's why it is called the present.

The origin of this letter is unknown, but it brings good luck fo everyone who passes
it on.

A woman walks into a bar ans sees a cute man sitting at the counter. She goes over and asks him what he is drinking. "Magic beer," he says.
She thinks he is a bit crazy and walks off, but after finding no one else worth talking to, goes back to the man at the bar and says, "That isn't really magic beer is it?"

"Yes, I'll show you." He takes a sip and jumps out the window and flies around the building three times. The woman can't believe it. "I bet you couldn't do that again."
He takes another sip, jumps out the window and flies around the building three times again.

She is so amazed that she says she wants a magic beer, so the guy says to the barman, "Give her one of what I'm having." She takes a sip, jumps out the window, falls 30 storeys, breaks every bone in her body, and dies.

The barman looks at the guy and says, "You know, Superman, you're such a jerk when you're drunk."

The phone rang. It was a salesman from a mortgage refinance company.
"Do you have a second mortgage on your home?" "No," I replied.

"Would you like to consolidate all your debts?" "I really don't have any."
"How about freeing up cash for home improvements?" he tried.

"I don't need any. I just recently had some done and paid cash," I replied.

There was a brief silence, and then he said," Are you looking for a husband?"

Back in Kentucky, you didn't see too many people hang-gliding. Bubba decided to
save up and get a hang-glider. He takes it to the highest mountain, and after struggling to the top, e gets ready to take flight. He takes off running ad reaches the edge--and into the wind he goes !

Meanwhile, Maw and Paw Hicks were sitting on the porch swing talking about the
good old days, when Maw spots the biggest bird she had ever seen ! "Look at the
size of that bird, Paw" she exclaims. Paw straghtens up and says, "Git my gun,Maw."

She runs into the house and brings out his pump shotgun. He takes careful aim.
BANG. . . BANG . . . .BANG. . . . . BANG ! The monster size bird continues to sail
silently over the tree tops.

"I think you missed him, Paw," she says.

"Yeah," he replies, " but at least he let go of Bubba !!"
