Yellow Roses.

Post 194 - - - - - - Thursday, 26th April, 2007.

Hello Everyone ~~How are you all today/ tonight? All well I hope.
I am fine and have had a nice quiet day, although I did go to have
my eyes checked again. It is only 3 months since I got new glasses
and I am having difficulty, reading etc, so have been advised to see
a specialist about whether I need cataracts removed yet. My brother
had an eye operation last month, and I sure as hell did not want to
copy him in that. Cataracts are not as severe as his op, but I could
do without any, but it will be a while till I can get an appointment.

Tonight's story is called "Yellow Roses." Hope you enjoy it.

I walked into the grocery store not particularly interested in buying
groceries. I wasn't hungry. The pain of losing my husband of 37
years was still too raw. And this grocery store held so many sweet
memories. Rudy
often came with me and almost every time he'd
pretemd to go off and look at something special. I knew what he
was up to as I'd always see him walking down the aisle with the
three yellow roses n his hand.

Rudy knew I loved yellow roses. With a heart filled with grief,
I only wanted to buy my few items and leave, but even grocery
shopping was different since Rudy hadpassed on. Shopping for
one took time, and a little more thought than it had for two.

Standng by the meat, I searched for the perfect small steak and
remembered how Rudy had loved his steak. Suddenly a woman
came beside me. She was blonde, slim and lovely in a soft green
pantsuit. I watched as she picked up a large pack of T- bones, and
dropped them in her basket, hesitated, and then put them back.
She turned to go and once again reached for the pack of steaks.
She saw me watching her and she smiled. "My husband loves
T-bones, but honestly, at these prices, I don't know."

I swallowed the emotion down in my throat and met her pale blue
eyes. "My husband passed away eight days ago," I told her.
Glancing at the package in her hands, I fought to cntrol the tremble
in my voice, "Buy him the steaks. And cherish every moment you
have together." She shook her head and I saw the emotion in her
eyes as she placed the package in her basket and wheeled away.

I turned and pushed my cart across the length of the store to the
dairy products. There I stood, trying to decide which size milk I
should buy. A quart, I finally decided and moved on to the ice-
cream section near the front of the store. If nothing else, I could
always fix myself an ice cream cone. I placed the ice cream in my
cart and looked down the aisle toward the front.

I saw first the green suit, then recognized the pretty lady coming
towards me. In her arms she carried a package. On her face was
the brightest smile I had ever seen. I would swear a soft halo
encircled her blonde hair as she kept walking toward me, her eyes
holding mine. As she came closer, I saw what she held and tears
began misting in my eyes.

"These are for you," she said and placed three beautiful long
stemmed yellow roses in my arms. "When you go through the line,
they will know these are paid for." She leaned over and placed a
gentle kiss on my cheek, then smiled again.

I wanted to tell her what she'd done, what the roses meant, but
still unable to speak, I watched as she walked away as tears clouded
my vision. I looked down at the beautiful roses nestled in the green
tissue wrapping and found it almost unreal. How did she know ?
Suddenly, the answer seemed so clear. I wasn't alone.

"Oh, Rudy, you haven't forgotten me, have you ?" I whispered, with
tears in my eyes. He was still with me, and she was his angel.

Everyday be thankful for what you have and who you are.

To the world, you may just be somebody . . . but to somebody,
you may be the world.

These are the words of a song from the past which is very strange.

Many, many years ago when I was twenty three,
I got married to a widow who was pretty as can be,
This widow had a grown-up daughter
Who had hair of red.
My father fell n love with her,
And soon the two were wed.

This made my dad my son-in-law
And changed my very life.
My daughter was my mother,
For she was my father's wife.

To complicate the matters worse,
Altough it brought me joy,
I soon became the father
Of a bouncing baby boy.

My little baby then became
A brother-in-law to dad.
And so became my uncle,
Though it made me mad.

For if he was my uncle,
Then that also made him brother
To the widow's grown-up daughter
Who, of course was my stepmother.

Father's wife then had a son,
Who kept them on the run.
And he became my grandson,
For he was my daughter's son.

My wife is now my mother's mother
And it makes me blue,
Because, although she is my wife,
She's my grandmother too.

If my wife is my grandmother,
Then I am her grandchild,
And every time I think of it,
It simply drives me wild.

For now I have become
The strangest case you ever saw,
As the husband of my grandmother,
I'm my own grandpa !!!

It sounds funny I know,
But it really is so
I'm my own grandpa !!

What is Marriaage ?

1. Marriage is not a word. It's a sentence.(A life sentence.)

2. Marriage is an institution in which a man loses his Bachelor's
Degree and the woman gets her masters.

3. Marriage is love. Love is blind. Therefore marriage is an
Institution for the blind.

4. Marriage is a three ring circus: engagement ring, wedding
ring and suffering.

5. Married life is full of excitement and frustration: In the first
year of marriage, the man speaks and the woman listens. In
the 2nd year, the woman speaks and the man listens. In the
3rd year, they both talk and the neighbors listen

6. Getting married is very much like going to a restaurant with
friends. You order what you want, and when you see what
the other person has, you wish you'd ordered that instead.

7. There was this man who muttered a few words in church and
found himself married. A year later he muttered something
in his sleep and found himself divorced.

8. A happy marriage is give and take. The husband gives and
the wife takes.

9. Love ia one long sweet dream, and marriage is the alarm clock.

10. They say when a man hlds a woman's hand before marriage,
it is love. After marriage, it is self-defense.

11. When a newly married man looks happy, we know why. But
when a 10year married man looks happy, we wonder why.

12. There was this lover who said he would go through hell for
her. They got married and now he is going through HELL.

13. When a man steals your wife, there is no better revemge
than to let him keep her.

14. Eighty per cent of married men cheat in America, the rest in
Europe.

15. After marriage, husband and wife become 2 sides of a coin,
They just can't face each other, but they still stay together.

16. Before marriage, a man yearns for the woman he loves.
After marriage the "Y" becomes silent.

17. Losing a wife can be hard. In my case it was impossible.

18. WIFE : Let's go out and have some fun tonight. HUSBAND:
OK, but if you get home before I do, leave the hall light on.

19. It doesn't matter how often a man changes his job, he still
ends up with the same boss.

20. When a man opens the door of his car for his wife, you can be
sure of one thing - - either the car is new or the wife is.

Hope your eye problem is something that can be corrected. I feel about like I have fallen apart in the last six months - even though I am doing better now. ec

Love,

Hi Merle, I remember my gran having cataracts removed, it made a lot of difference to her eyesight. I believe the operation is a lot easier these days too. You can do without all the hassle though can't you. Bob.

I love the yellow roses story.when the hubby left me and went home to his moms place last year.it really hurt.I was so heart broken I didnt know what to do.I was so sad and felt lost.then one day as I was sitting in my chair I looked at the dryed roses he use to get me.h would buy roses,or pick flowers for me.

I sat and cryed.as I sat there I figured I should go and do some shopping just to get out of the house.I went to the store we would go to.as I walked along all the shopping had changed.I picked up easy stuff to make, cause I didnt feel like cooking anymore cause I was alone.

and I came to the place where the roses were.I felt bad.and thought to myself"Ill never get roses from someone who loves me any more,(not that he loved me how can someone who says they love you leave you?")
as I was thinking on this line the Lord spoke in my spirit and said pick up some of the roses you love so much.I said Lord I cant aford them anymore.he said well I can pick up the roses!!!
so i picked up the roses and felt so loved.I will always recieve roses from some one who loves me,the Lord.
thanks friend for this story and the jokes.they brighten my day.
God bless you dear.have a great week and weekend.
thanks for being o faithful on my blog.sorry I been unable to comment lately.but when I have nothing to give I go to the Lord so I can be filled and then pore it out to others.your a blessing friend.(((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))

Hello dear Merle:-) I've just come back from having lunch with my mom, it was lovely to spend time with her again! She was telling me about the cataracts in her eyes that need to be looked after soon...what a coincidence that you should mention them too! I do hope you won't have to go through surgery though!! Loved the Yellow Roses story, such a touching story and it makes you realize that even though a loved one may be gone, they are still around us!! Take care my friend! xoxo

Hi Merle, sorry to hear that you might have to have cataract surgery, but your eyesight has been getting worse and it's so important that you keep it

Merle, if you do need the surgery you should go ahead. My 83 year old dad just had his first one done, it's a day procedure and his sight in that eye has improved immensely. Now he's looking forward to having the second one done to even things up. Listen to your brother: it is important that you take care of your eyesight.

I've really missed you and I think of you often. Take care, my dear friend. Love & hugs!
