8 Gifts That Don't Cost a Cent.

Post 200 - - - - - Thursday, 3rd May, 2007.

Hi Everyone ~~ Hope the world is being kind to you. I have been
busy cooking some roast pork dinners and the Pea and Ham soup.
Cutting up all those vegetables takes time, cooking them etc.
I also had some phone calls and the Avon lady called in to see me.
So this will be a short post tonight, as it is late already.

Tonight's first item is called "8 Gifts That Don't Cost a Cent."

1. THE GIFT OF LISTENING . . . .
But you must really listen. No interrupting, no daydreaming, no
planning your response. Just listening.

2. THE GIFT OF AFFECTION . . . .
Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back and
handholds. Let these small actions demonstrate the love you
have for family and friends.

3. THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER . . . .
Clip cartoons. Share articles and funny stories. Your gift will say
"I love to laugh with you."

4. THE GIFT OF A WRITTEN NOTE . . . .
It can be a simple "Thanks for the help" note or a full sonnet. A
brief, hand-written note may be remembered for a lifetime, and
may even change a life.

5. THE GIFT OF A COMPLIMENT . . . .
A simple and sincere, "You look great in red." "You did a super
job," or "That was a wonderful meal" can make someone's day.

6. THE GIFT OF A FAVOR . . . . .
Every day, go out of your way to do something kind.

7. THE GIFT OF SOLITUDE . . . .
There are times when we want nothing better than to be left
alone. Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude
to others.

8. THE GIFT OF A CHEERFUL DISPOSITION . . . .
The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to someone,
really it's not that hard to say, "Hello" or "Thank You."

A young bride calls her mother in tears. She sobs, " Robert
doesn't appreciate what I do for him."
"Now, now," her mother comforted, "I'm sure it was all just a
misunderstanding."

"No, Mother, you don't understand. I bought a frozen turkey
roll and he yelled at me about the price !!"
"Well, the nerve of that lousy cheapskake !" says her Mom. :Those
turkey rolls are only a few dollars."

"No, Mother it wasn't the price of the turkey. It was the airplane
ticket. "Airline ticket ? What did you need a plane ticket for ?
"Well, Mother, when I went to fix it, I looked at the directions on
the package and it said, "Prepare from a frozen state," so I flew
to Alaska."

I Don't Wanna Go. . . .

Early one morning, a mother went to her son and woke
him up. "Wake up, son. It's time to go to church."
"But why, Mama ? I don't wanna go to church."
"Give me two reasons why you don't want to go to church. "

"One, all the people hate me. Two, all the Sunday school
teachers hate me."
"Oh ! That's no reason. Come on, you have to go to church,"

Give me two good reasons WHY I should go to church ?"

"One, you are 52 years old. Two you are the Pastor of the
church."

Time to stop for tonight. Love and Best Wishes toyou all.
See you next time, Cheers, Merle.

You're making me hungry with the mention of pea and ham soup. The eight gifts may not cost anything but their value cannot be measured. ec

I haven't got around to pea and ham soup yet, but I did make leek and potato soup the other night. The trouble is, it's become warm again...18 degrees tonight and 31 tomorrow, and it's May! Oh well, I don't mind, I don't like the cold.

I like the eight gifts...it would be a wonderful world if we all practiced them, wouldn't it?

Take care

A great post for someone without much time to write. You did some reading too! Thanks.

Now, if you are still in the giving mood, I would like some # 6 and some # 8 please. Thanks again.

How are you?

Yeah! We must keep moving as written in your post dated 05 May.
I couldn't comment on it.

The 8 gifts that don't cost a cent is so accurate and appropriate.

Take care.

Since I couldn't comment on your post right above this one, I'll do it here.

You said "The blessing is that we can. Author Unknown."

Truer words were never spoken.
