A Girl Raped.

Post 272 - - - - Monday, 30th July, 2007.

Hi Everyone~ I hope all is well with you all and that the week has started
well for you. All OK here, another dull day, but it is winter here so we have
to expect it. Another day inside with the gas heater!!

More photos from around my home - - -

Self explanatory wall plaque which I love for it's sentiments.

These three pretty ladies are up high, so photo is not great.

A biscuit barrel, with the face of a cow. Gift from Kathy,
the dairy farmer in the family.

This sits on my small kitchen table, a fairy castle, with a unicorn
and fairies of course.

Tonight's story was sent to me by my good friend, Gwen. I hope you
enjoy it. Many thanks Gwen.

A Girl Raped.

A girl went to a party and she ended up staying longer than planned,
and she had to walk home alone.

She wasn't afraid because it was a small town and she lived only a few
blocks away.

As she walked along under the tall elm trees, Diane asked God to keep
her safe from harm and danger.

When she reached the alley, which was a shortcut to her house, she
decided to take it.

However, halfway down the alley she noticed a man standing at the
end as though he was waiting for her.

She became uneasy and began to pray, asking for God's protection.

Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness and security wrapped
round her; she felt as though someone was walking with her.

When she reached the end of the alley, she walked right past the
man and arrived home safely.

The following day, she read in the newspaper that a young girl had
been raped in the same alley just twenty minutes after she had been
there.

Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy and the fact that it could have
been her, she began to weep.

Thanking the Lord for her safety and to help this young woman, she
decided to go to the police station.

She felt she could recognize the man, so she told her story.
The police asked her if she would be willing to look at a line-up to
see if she could identify him.

She agreed and immediately pointed out the man she had seen
in the alley the night before.

When the man was told he had been identified, he immediately
broke down and confessed.

The officer thanked Diane for her bravery and asked if there was
anything they could do for her.

She asked if they would ask the man one question. Diane was
curious as to why he had not attacked her.

When the policeman asked him, he answered, "Because she
wasn't alone. She had two tall men walking on either side of her."

Amazingly, whether you believe it or not, you're never alone.

Joke time folks - - - -

A man called on a married couple whom he had not seen for
some time. The door was opened by the woman to whom the
man said, "Hello Mabel, how is Jack?"

"Oh," she replied, " didn't you know? He died a little while ago."
"Well, I'm sorry to hear that, " the man said. How did it happen?"

"Well," she informed him, "he went out into the garden to pull
a cabbage for dinner, when he collapsed and died."

"Dear, dear," the man said
, " Whatever did you do ?"
"Well," she rejoined, what could we do ? We had to open a can
of peas !!"

An Englishman, an Irishman, a Scotsman and an American
hitherto complete strangers to each other, were ship-wrecked
on a desert island. The natives were friendly and in a short
time the American was running a light railway, the Scot was
running a store, the Irishman was training an army, while
the Englishman was waiting to be introduced.
<><>

Whilst passing a cemetery one afternoon, I heard a sad, heart-
rending voice sobbing and repeating, "Why did you have to go?"

Naturally I couldn't just carry on and go home leaving the scene
as it was, so I turned round and entered the cemetery and walked
towards the direction the voice was coming from.

Sure enough, bent on his knees over a grave was a weedy looking
man with tears in his eyes, still repeating, "Why did you have to go?"

"Was it your wife, " I asked in my best bedside manner.
The man looked up with tears in his eyes, "Eh?" he said.

"Was it your wife?" I asked again.
"No," he answered, " It was the wife's first husband !!"

"Roll up! Roll up! Buy this miraculous cure for old age and
colds. Rigor mortis can be cured! Roll up! Roll up!" called
the fairground quack doctor.

He soon collected a large crowd around his stall, and the quack
went on to proclaim the merits of his products. "This miraculous
mixture actually cures old age. You only have to look at me to
see the proof of it's power. I am over two hundred and fifty years
old."

One astonished man in the crowd turned to the quack's beautiful
young assistant and said, " Say Miss, is what that gentleman said
true? Is he really two hundred and fifty years old ?"

"I'm afraid I can't really say," replied the quack's assistant. "I've
only been working for him for the past ninety-three years !!"

Merle
I must confess, I just looked at all the pictures I missed while away. Thanks for sharing. Hope you are keeping warm. Our weather will be the hottest it has been all summer. High 90's with Tn humidity to go with it. No rain in sight. Our yard is brown and crunchy but it rain almost everyday while we were at the lake. Two days we did not get out as it was wind & lighting. We watch 6 hummingbirds enjoy the feeders while it rained. Last Wed all afternoon it rain a gully washer then quit for awhile then a few minutes it would roar and lighting and rain again. Still beautiful even in the rain. by the way what day in may is your birthday?

So pretty, Merle. You would love the "Fairy Cottage", a little north of Gympie, if you ever receive an invite from that brother of yours to visit! ;) It's just north of Gympie, off to the right on the way to Maryborough. Tell him I said so! ;)

Hello dear Merle:-)

It went up to 32c here today and that's just too hot for me...I melt at anything over 25c! lol I cleaned up my computer room today...I was slowly being pushed out of the room by piles of stuff here and there so I finally got everything organized and put away:-)

The girl raped story brought back memories for me...I was 16 and going to work...I had taken a shortcut in an alley and this drunk came out of nowhere approaching me and unzipping his pants. I ran and found a way out...I still shiver when I think what could have happened!!

Loved the jokes, my favourite being the one of the man crying at the grave of his wife's first husband!! lol Love it!

Take care my friend! xoxo

Thanks for sharing those nice things with us, Merle.
Is a biscuit barrel the same as we call a cookie jar? It looks like one.

The man who should get his head examined reminded me of the day the ear doctor couldn't find what the trouble with my ears was.
I told him it must be all in my head, he got really upset, walked out of the examining room, and slammed the door.

Peter said you had lots of lovely things in your home, Merle and it's lovely to see them. I like the faeries with the unicorn.

A Girl Raped is an amazing story, but I'm a great believer in spiritual protection. I've had it myself.

Hugs xoxo
