Great Ocean Road,

Post 256 - - - - - Thursday, 12th July, 2007.

Hello my friends ~~ How is the world treating you all? I hope
everything is going well for you. All OK here - Bec took me out
shopping today for a while and we had a good day. John came
for tea and now the two of them have gone to see Harry Potter
at the cinema. Not my cup of tea !!

Tonight I have a few small stories called "Through a Child's Eyes."

Author and Lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he
was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most
caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door
neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.
Upon seeing the old man cry, the little boy went into the old man's
yard, climbed on his lap, and just sat there. When his mother asked
him what he said to the neighbor, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just
helped him cry."
<><>

Teacher Debbie Moon's first graders were discussing a picture of a
family. One little boy in the picture had a different color hair than
the other family members. One child suggested that he was adopted,
and a little girl said, "I know all about adoptions because I was
adopted." "What does it mean to be adopted?" asked another child.
"It means," said the girl, that you grew in your mother's heart instead
of her tummy."
<><>

A four year old was at the pediatrician for a check up. As the doctor
looked down her ears with an otoscope, he asked, "Do you think I'll
find Big Bird down here?" The little girl stayed silent. Next the
doctor took a tongue depressor and looked down her throat. He
asked, "Do you think I'll find the Cookie Monster down there?"
Again, the little girl was silent. Then the doctor put a stethoscope
to her chest. As he listened to her heart beat, he asked, "Do you
think I'll hear Barney in there?" "Oh, no!" the little girl replied.
"Jesus is in my heart. Barney's on my underpants."
<><>

As I was driving home from work one day, I stopped to watch a
local Little League baseball game that was being played in a park
near my home. As I sar down behind the bench on the first-base
line, I asked one of the boys what the score was. "We're behind
14 to nothing," he answered with a smile. "Really?" I said. "I have
to say you don't look very discouraged." "Discouraged?" the boy
asked with a puzzled look on his face. "Why should we be
discouraged ? We haven't been up to bat yet."
<><>

Whenever I'm disappointed with my spot in life, I stop and think
about little Jamie Scott. Jamie was trying out for a part in a school
play. His mother told me he'd set his heart on being in it, though
she feared he would not be chosen. On the day the parts were
awarded, I went with her to collect him after school. Jamie rushed
up to her, eyes shining with pride and excitement, "Guess what
Mom," he shouted, and then said those words that will remain a
lesson for me : "I've been chosen to clap and cheer."

Two horses at Kathy and Ard's farm at Princetown.

Kathy's Wall Unit is very nice.

Bec when she drove me the five hour trip to Princetown,
one year and we spent Christmas with them.

London Bridge from the Great Ocean Road.

An arch among the rocks on the coast of Victoria.

These last two photos are of the Twelve Apostles or what remains of them.
Time and the sea and weather wears them away. One has crumbled since
we took these photos. Kathy and Ard's farm backs right on to the Great
Ocean Road. and is close to Port Campbell. Princetown is between Geelong
and Warnambool.

The last two are Kate, Jorja and Kathy with some of their horses.

Now for a few jokes - - - -

A man dashed into a police station at midnight. "My wife," he gasped. "Will
you find my wife. She's been missing since eight o'clock tonight. I must
find her."
"Particulars? asked the sergeant. :Height, weight ?"
"I don't know." said the man.
"Do you know what she was wearing?"
"No, but she took the dog with her."
"What kind of dog?" asked the sergeant.
"Brindle, bull terrier, weight 53 lbs, Four dark blotches on
his body shading from grey to white, three white legs and right
front leg brindled all but the toes. Small nick in his left ear."
"That'll do," gasped the sergeant. "We'll find the dog."
<><>

That's a lovely bulldog you've got there."
"No, it's not a bulldog -- it was chasing a cat and rang into a wall."
<><>

Mavis : "On the way to work this morning a man stopped me in the
street and showed me the lining of his raincoat."
Claudia : Are you sure he only wanted you to see his raincoat?"
Mavis : "Oh yes ! He wasn't wearing anything else."
<><>

Father to son : "Please don't pester me with so many questions.
I've answered you a hundred times already. What do you think
would have happened if I had asked my father so many questions?"

:Well, Dad," replied the boy. "Perhaps you might have learnt how
to answer some of mine."
<><>

A little girl was going to a party and her mother told her to be a
good little girl and to remember, when she was leaving, to thank
her hostess.

When she arrived home, the mother asked her if she had thanked
her hostess and the little girl replied, "No, the girl in front of me
did and the lady said "Don't mention it" - - -so I didn't !!"
<><>

Tom : "There's one word that describes my wife : temperamental."

John : " She's fifty per cent temper and fifty per cent mental."
<><>

Well that is enough for tonight, my friends. Keep well and enjoy your
lives. Be kind to each other. Love and Best Wishes to all. Merle.

Hi Merle:-)

I hope Bec and John enjoyed the newest Harry Potter movie...I've heard it's quite good!! I've only just recently watched the first four Harry Potter films on DVD and thoroughly enjoyed them....now I'm hooked! lol

I so enjoyed the short stories "Through a Child's Eyes"...I love how innocently a child can see the world. Beautiful stories.

The pictures were so much fun to look at...the picture with the horses looks like a painting, it's so gorgeous!! Kathy & Ard sure do live in a beautiful area and to be so near the Great Ocean Road!! I was fascinated with the Twelve Apostles rock formations...what a shame one has crumbled away.

Take care my friend! xoxo

Another lot of great pics, Merle. Thanks for the show. :)

I never go to the movies...preferring to watch them in the comfort of home. The last time I took myself to a theatre was in 1998...how about that! I'm a movie buff...but prefer to watch them at home.

Take care.

A child can teach us many things, why do you think the Lord loved children so much?

TF is having complications from his surgery and is back in the hospital, please pray for him and his doctors.

Hi Merle, no, I don't care for the Harry Potter movies either.
Your pictures are interesting, my vote is for more.
And the new joke book, I've been understanding them all lately.
I like the lost dog ones, is there a whole chapter for these?

Excellent store and great pics, Merle! BTW, Buscaglia was one of my favorite people. He died much too young.

I love Harry Potter and I hope Bec and John enjoy the latest one...I've yet to see it.

What terrific photos, especially the horses and those of the Great Ocean Road. It's lovely to meet your family and put faces to names. Keep up with the photo posts!

Through a Child's Eyes...aren't they lovely? Kids can have more wisdom than adults at times.

Have a great weekend, Merle and keep warm.

Hugs xoxo

Hi Merle

Have a look at the meme on today's post on my blog and have a go at it. I think it's quite interesting to know what other people like in music.

Hugs

I never tire of seeing photos of the Great Ocean Road - as long as it's not in the Lorne / Apollo Bay area - way to touristy and crowded. I just hope they don't spoil Port Campbell with overdevelopment.

Just listening to the Sydney / Carlton game - the Blues started well but they're starting to fall apart in the second quarter.
