The Shipwreck.

Post 288 - - - - - Thursday, 16th August, 2007.

Hi Folks - - - I thought I had these photos on before, but apparently
not. They were taken at my cousins' farm at Tallarook Victoria.

First one is a painting of their farm that they had painted for them.

A decorated old Milk Can that they had painted also.

A view of part of their farm, cows in the distance. They used to milk
cows for many years, but just run some cattle for the meat market now.
I hope you can see the cows when you enlarge it.

Hi Everyone ~~ I hope you are all well and happy and that
everything is going well for you. I am fine, no good growling,
nobody listens anyway. I had some blood tests taken today.
It was funny walking into Pathology, an elderly couple coming
out smiled at me, which I returned. Then the gentleman said,
"Have fun !!" I said, "Well at least it gets us out of the house !"

Tonight I have a small article called The Shipwreck.
The author is Unknown.

There was only one person alive on the small island. He prayed
every day asking God to send someone to rescue him. Every day
he looked around for God's help but couldn't find it. Tired of
waiting, he made a shelter to protect himself and protect his few
possessions. But then one day, after looking for food, he came
back to find his little shelter on fire.

The worst thing was that everything he owned was burned. He
was confused and mad at God. He asked God, "Why did you do
this to me?" and fell asleep over on the sand. Early the next
morning, he heard the sound of a boat that came close to the island.
They were rescuers. He asked them how they knew he was there.
The rescuers said to him that they saw the smoke signals he made.

It's easy to get mad when things go wrong, but we shouldn't lose
heart, because God is working in our lives. Remember, the next
time your small house is on fire, it might simply be a smoke signal
that comes from God. For every negative thing that happens to
us, we should tell our selves, "God has a positive answer to this."

For I know the plans that I have for you, says the Lord, plans for
good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
-- Jeremiah 29:11.

Amelia didn't know what to do with her seven year old son, Mark.
Every time a visitor came to the house or he saw someone he
didn't know, he would race towards them and bite them on the
knee. Then he would cling to their leg and refuse to let go.

In desperation, Amelia took her son to a child psychologist and
on seeing him Mark rushed towards him, bit his knee, and then
clung on to the man's leg.

The child psychologist looked down at Mark, then bent down and
whispered something in the boy's ear. Immediately the boy let
go and ran back to his mother.

"He's cured !" cried Amelia. "What did you say to him?"
The child psychologist smiled and said, "I told him that if he didn't
let go of my leg I'd smash his stupid face in."

It was three o'clock in the morning and the plumber's phone rang.
It was the doctor, saying that his toilet seemed to be broken and
could the plumber come immediately and fix it.

The plumber reluctantly agreed to visit the doctor's house, although
the plumber warned his client that at this time of night he could
only expect him to provide 'a doctor's treatment.'

When he arrived, the plumber went straight to the offending toilet,
threw an aspirin down it, and then said to the doctor : "If it's not
better by lunchtime tomorrow, phone me and I'll come again."

Two women met and one said, "I didn't know your boy had to wear
glasses."
"Well he doesn't have to really," replied the other, "but they were
his poor dear father's and it seems a pity to waste them."

A little girl who was taken to the zoo tossed some pieces
of bun to a stork which gobbled them greedily and
looked to her for more.

"What bird is that Mommy?" she asked. The mother replied
that it was a stork.

"Ooooh!" the little girl cried as she opened her eyes with
astonishment. "It must have recognized me !!"

I learned to swim at a very early age. When I was three my parents
used to row me out to sea in a little boat until they got about a
mile out from shore, then I had to swim back. I quite liked the swim,
but getting out of the sack was difficult.

The young son of the house ran into the room where his mother was
sitting and said, "Come at once, there's a man in the kitchen kissing
the au pair girl."

As his mother rose to look into the matter he cried out gleefully :
"April Fool, it's only father !!"

Hello Ms. Merle---I love the decorated old milk can---it is so neat.

Of course I enjoyed the quotes---they are always my favorite---I guess I am just a lover of quotes.

Take care and enjoy life.

This bit was my favorite though...

Hi Merle -- I really liked your farm pictures. I wished my dad's farm had been that pretty.

Every one of your tall tales were good today also. Well maybe not the swimmer child one.

My desk is so cluttered I can't use it. That's why I'm alway at the kitchen table with my computer or newspaper or paying the bills.

"Be kind" and enjoy. I know you are.

I sincerely enjoyed those pictures, Merle, as well as the Shipwreck story. And I was in great need of the humor this morning! Thank you.

There's something about the Victorian countryside that always appeals to me. Will have to look up in Google maps to see where Tallarook is.

Love that picture and the photo of your cousin's farm. Beautiful country.

Heehee! Loved the joke about the boy who learnt to swim early...it tickled my warped sense of humour.
