Tribute to Grandma.

Post 346 ~ ~ ~ ~ Tuesday, 23rd October, 2007.

Hello My Friends ~ ~ I hope all is well with you and that
the week has started well for you. I am fine and had my
Home Care lady come today so I have clean bed clothes
and floors and between us we defrosted my freezer.

It was cooler today, but the rain did not arrive. However
I did get my tomatos planted ( with difficulty) and even
did what Lady Di suggested ~ to put paper around them
and a layer of straw on top. This keeps the weeds down
and the moisture in ~~ Thank you for that tip Lady Di !!

Tomorrow evening I am going with my neighbor Lorraine
to do a Computer course as there are a lot of things that I
do not know about. As a result, I may not post ~~ I might
have Homework !! So I would like to wish another blogger
friend a Happy Birthday for the 25th.

It will be Trucker Bob's birthday, so I hope you have a great
day Bob. I hope some of you will pop over to wish him a
Happy day. Bob hales from Canada and is traveling around
and enjoying most of his days of late.

More photos from the garden ~ ~ ~

My first vase of Sweet Peas with old favorites in the background.

There are 4 different Pelagoniums in this vase.

There are about 14 different colors here ~ I really like these.

My dear friend of long standing, as opposed to an old friend, Barbara
sent me this one a while back. Thank you Barbara.
This is a tribute to all the Grandmas who have been fearless and
learned to use a computer . . .They are the greatest !!

The computer swallowed Grandma.
Yes, honestly it's true.
She pressed 'control' and 'enter'
And disappeared from view.

It devoured her completely !
The thought just makes me squirm.
She must have caught a virus
Or been eaten by a worm.

I've searched through the recycle bin
And files of every kind;
I've even used the Internet,
But nothing did I find.

In desperation, I asked Jeeves
My searches to refine.
The reply from him was negative,
Not a thing was found 'online'.

So, if inside your 'Inbox',
My Grandma you should see;
Please 'Copy', 'Scan' and 'Paste' her
And send her back to me !!

Mrs Ward goes to the doctor's office to collect her husband's
test results.
The lab tech says to her, "I'm sorry, ma'am, but there has
been a bit of a mix-up and we have a problem. When we sent
your husband's samples to the lab, the samples from another
Mr Ward were sent as well, and now we are uncertain which
one is your husband's. Frankly, it's either bad or terrible.

"What do you mean ?" Mrs Ward asked.
"Well, one tested positive for Alzheimer's and the other for
AIDS. We can't tell which is your husband."

"That's terrible! Can't we do the test over ?" asked Mrs Ward.
"Normally yes, but Medicare won't pay for these expensive
tests more than once."
"Well, what am I supposed to do now ?"

"The people at Medicare recommend that you drop your
husband off in the middle of town. If he finds his way home,
don't sleep with him."

A couple goes on vacation to a fishing resort. The husband
likes to fish at the crack of dawn. The wife likes to read.

One morning the husband returns after several hours of
fishing and decides to take a nap. Although not familiar
with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out. She motors
out a short distance, anchors, and continues to read her book.

Along comes a game warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside
the woman and says, "Good morning Ma'am. What are you
doing
?"
"Reading a book," she replies, (thinking, 'Isn't it obvious?')
"You're in a restricted fishing area." he informs her.
"I'm sorry officer, but I'm not fishing, I'm reading."

"Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know, you
could start at any moment. I'll have to take you in and
write you up."

"If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault."
says the woman.
"But I haven't touched you," says the game warden.

"That's true, but you have all the equipment. For all I know,
you could start at any moment."

"Have a nice day ma'am" he said as he left.

The preacher's Sunday sermon was Forgive Your Enemies.
He asked, "How many of you have forgiven your enemies?"
About half held up their hands. He repeated the question.
Now about 80% held up their hands. He then repeated his
question again. All responded, except one elderly lady.

"Mrs Jones, are you not willing to forgive your enemies?"
asked the preacher.
"I don't have any," she replied.
"Mrs Jones, that is very unusual. How old are you?"
"Ninety- three," she replied.

"Mrs Jones, please come down in front and tell the
congregation how a person cannot have an enemy
in the world." asked the preacher.

The little sweetheart of a lady tottered down the aisle, and
said, "It's easy, I just outlived all those bitches."
<><>

Ira Goldberg was in front heading out of the Synagogue one
day, and as always, the Rabbi was standing at the door shaking
hands as the congregation departed.

The Rabbi grabbed Ira by the hand and pulled him aside. "You
need to join the Army of God."
Ira replied, "I'm already in the Army of God, Rabbi."

Rabbi questioned, "How come I don't see you except for
Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur ?"

Ira whispered back, "I'm in the secret service."

An honest 7 year old admitted calmly to her parents that
Billy Brown had kissed her after class.

"How did that happen?" gasped her mother.
"It wasn't easy," admitted the young lady, :but three girls
helped me catch him."
<><>

A fair young lady went to the doctor with two badly burned
ears. The doctor asked how she got them.

"Well," she replied, "I was doing some ironing when the
phone rang and I put the iron to my ear."
The doctor said he could understand that, but how did she
get the other one burnt?"

Her reply was, "The silly idiot rang back."

Bye for now folks, time to read some blogs and the papers.
Take care of yourselves and each other. Do something nice
for someone or just share a smile. Love and best wishes
to you all. Cheers, Merle.

Merle,

I loved the grandma poem. Made me laugh and I forwarded it by email to my daughter. The grandsons will get a laugh out of that.

Thanks for brightening my mornings with your jokes. I always enjoy my visits here and also the visits you pay me at my blog.

Have a terrific Tuesday.

Mary

Those are beautiful flowers.

I promise this isn’t one of those ‘check in with you and leave for several months’ kind of things. Yahoo is supposedly deleting the 360 blogging forum and I’m trying to get all my blogs off of there before they do. I’m here and will be blogging as soon as I get my stuff off of yahoo.

Hope you are doing well.

Hi Merle, I hope the computer lessons go okay, I don't like the sound of homework though!! I've sent you a couple of little maps of the West Highland Way to your email, hope they are something like you had in mind. Bob.

Hello my friend:-)

I think it's wonderful that you'll be taking a computer course...as they say, you're never too old to learn:-) Your flowers are just gorgeous, I so love the colours! I've never tried growing sweetpeas but I received some seeds from blogging friends recently so will plant them next year and see if they grow!

The Computer Swallowed Grandma...now that is just so funny! I love the quote "finishing a good book is like leaving a good friend"...that is so true, I don't know how often I'd feel so down when I'd finish a book I had enjoyed so much!

Take care dear Merle!! xoxo

I am sure that if my mother ever touched a computer it would swallow her, too.

Dear Merle,

Your flowers in the vases are beautiful! I always bring flowers in the house as well, in the growing season. Someone sent me the poem about Grandma, too, and I love it! Funny jokes. Love the one about the game warden. Well, I enjoyed all of them. Thank you for the inspiration and cheers! Hope some rain comes your way soon.

Warmest regards,

Renie

Have a fun time at the computer class. We're never too old to learn something new.

Your flowers are beautiful.
P.S. Got the knee checked out and they gave me a shot in it, and I can't believe how much better it feels this morning. It's just wonderful.

Hi Merle,

I've got lots of blog reading to catch up on, and see that you have your usual never-ending supply of jokes. It will be a day to remember if you ever run out of jokes!

How very exciting that you are taking a class!

I'm sure you'll enjoy it and learn much, maybe even can help us out some what do you think?!

Have a wonderful time!

Do you have recycle fascism where you are?
Here there was full horror when the newspapers portrayed a discarded beans tin fitted with spy camera... saying THIS thing will report back on you and how much/little rubbish you mix in your recycling and you'll get FINED when you get it wrong even tho we won't TELL you the rules till after you've broken them... typical modern Britain!!
O dear sorry I'm on my high horse yet again!

Hi Merle. I just love sweat peas. Oldfashioned they may be, but oh, the perfume is just glorious.

I think my grandkids could relate to the poem about grandma and the computer...heheh! Good for you for taking a computer class. We're never too young to learn.

Have a lovely week. Hugs xoxo

Hi Merle.

I like your 'lost grandmother' bit!

I think I have found her and RIGHT NOW will try to PASTE HER IN, RIGHT HERE.

[She/you was/were showing in your Tuesday, October 23, 2007, Post, Tribute to Grandma.]

I did find her and pasted her in my prior remark which I deleted.

I'm sorry I messed up your comments, and
NO, YOUR POSTS ARE NOT TOO LONG.

You work hard on them and they always have a bit or a lot for everyone's enjoyment.

PLEASE DON'T STOP WITH YOUR NICE LONG POSTS.

"Clever, us ..."

I hope you "shared my smile" that I had found putting the Grandma find in earlier.

Cheers!
