Happy Birthday Lee.

Post 360 ~ ~ ~ Saturday, 10th November, 2007.

Hi Everybody ~~ I hope all is well with you and you are all
having a great weekend or are about to. All is well here
with me, as I got a very good report at the Doctor's office
yesterday ~~ diabetes going very well, B/P perfect, so he
said. 120/85. And he froze the thing on my nose which
will get rid of it, I hope, without it returning again.

We have another birthday girl Lee who has her birthday
tomorrow. She has been on holiday, but please pop over to
wish her a happy day. I hope you have a wonderful day,

Tonight I have a nice article that my dear friend, Sherrill

sent me. It was written by Audrey Hepburn when she was asked
for her Beauty Tips.

It was read at her funeral, years later.

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.

For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.

For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.

People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed,
revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand,
you will find one at the end of each of your arms.

As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands;
one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

Thank you Sherrill, nice one !!

The little boy on his first visit to the zoo followed all the signs.
He saw the sign which said "To the Elephants: and enjoyed
watching them
, then followed the sign "To the Penguins" and
found their antics amusing, but when he followed the sign,
"To the Exit," he found himself back in the street outside the
zoo without seeing the Exit animal.

I once went to an important business dinner party and
was listening to an interesting conversation between
two people at the far end of the table, when the host,
(my boss) passed me a note.

I had forgotten my spectacles, so I handed it to the man
on my right and asked if he would be good enough to read
me the note, as without my spectacles, I find it difficult to
even read the newspaper headlines.

The young man looked at the note and read, "Please talk to
the man on your right. He's a long-winded bore, full of his
own self-importance and is rather stupid -- but we're hoping
to pick up a good order from his firm."

I was feeling rather stressed and tormented, so last night I
read a book that stated that the way to achieve inner peace
was to finish the things I started.

I'm now well on the way to feeling better. So far, I've
managed to finish a packet of cornflakes, a chocolate bar,
a bottle of wine, a four course lunch, two bags of peanuts, a
large bag of potato chips and six cans of beer. I feel a great
inner calm . . . .

One thing I have noticed about old age is that it makes a
woman's arms shorter. For example, when I got married
my wife could easily put her arms around me -- now she

By the time he had made enough money to be able to eat
in the finest restaurants, drink the finest wines and cavort
with the most beautiful women ~~ His doctor restricted his
diet, banned alcohol and told him not to exert himself too

Some Definitions ~~

Aperitif : a pair of French false teeth.

Apricots : beds for baby apes.

Assets : Baby donkeys.

Booby trap : a bra that is too small and too tight.

Derange : de place where de cowboys ride home to.

Disgruntled : a pig that has lost its voice.

Impale : to put in a bucket.

Inkling : a small bottle of ink.

Minister of Defence : a man who is always ready to
lay down your life for his country.

Operator : a person who hates opera.

Pigtail : a story about a pig.

Politics : sounds coming from a parrot that has
swallowed a watch.

Polygon : a dead parrot.

Polymath : a parrot who likes mathematics.

Triplets : small journeys.

When she returned home from a party, Candy
discovered that her house had been burgled. She quickly
rang the police and sat calmly until a police van arrived.

As she went to open the front door, she saw a policeman
with an Alsation dog get out of the van. Candy burst into
tears and sobbed, "I've been burgled and what do the
police send ? A blind cop with his guide dog !!"

Lawyers don't give bad advice -- they charge for it.

If it is true that love is blind --- then marriage is
certainly an eye opener.

I have a little box that contains "Words to Live By"
so that is where my latest quotes come from.

If it never rained we wouldn't appreciate the sunshine.

The wise are never without friends.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

Gratitude is the sign of a noble soul.

Tomorrow is another day.

Memory is the diary we all carry about with us.

Dare to Dream.

I like that last one. Have a wonderful weekend
my friends or the last half of it to those Down
Under. Take care of yourselves and each other.
Love and best wishes to you all. Cheers, Merle.

Love your daffynitions, Merle. I also like the Audrey Hepburn beauty tips...pity we don't live by that.

Well done on your good health, and I hope the spot on your face was pretty minor.

Take care.

Hugs xoxo

Audrey Hepburn is a favorite of mine. Now those beauty tips just reinforce my opinion and I must copy them for Sis.

Love "finish what you start".

Sorry I've been so remiss in visiting. Time gets away from me somehow.

Will think good thoughts about your nose.

Glad John won't need surgery and I loved the story about Carl and his garden.

I'll try to catch up with the rest of your posts later. Have to shower and then buy groceries.

And then reward myself with Barnes & Noble coffee.

Did you know I'm grandma again?

Hi Merle. As usual I enjoyed your post. Your jokes always give me a good chuckle.
Good news from your doctor too. You must be feeling pretty chipper about it. I know I am when I get a good report like that.
Hope your week-end has been good too.

Audrey Hepburn was a very wise woman. We all should take some pointers from her.

I'm glad you are in good health. The freezing does work. I had cancer taken off my face by that method two years ago.

Take care, Merle. Enjoyed your jokes, as always.
