Strangers Are Friends We Haven't Met.

Post 484 ~ ~ ~ Monday, 21st July, 2008.

Hello My Friends ~~ As I am late starting tonight
this will be a fairly brief effort. I hope you are all
fit and well and ready for another week to begin.
I am fine, but had to go out for a while tonight.

We have another blogger having a birthday, today
21st July. so it would be nice if some on you go and
wish Kerri a very Happy Birthday. She has the
most beautiful garden and her photos are lovely.
Have a wonderful day Kerri.

Also, another birthday, my dear friend Gwen had
hers yesterday on 20th. Gwen was 70. I hope you
had a great day Gwen. Sorry I didn't know until
Jan told me. I'll be on time next year !!

I have another poem by Helen Steiner Rice,
called "Strangers Are Friends We Haven't Met."

God knows no strangers. He loves us all,
the poor, the rich, the great, the small. . .
He is a friend who is always there
to share our troubles and lessen our care. . .

No one is a stranger in God's sight,
for God is love and in His light
May we, too, try in our small way
to make new friends from day to day. . .

So pass no stranger with an unseeing eye,
for God may be sending a new friend by.

Two couples were playing cards when Jeff
accidently dropped a couple on the floor.
When he bent down to pick them up, he
noticed under the table that Dave's wife
Sandy was not wearing any underwear.

Shodked by this, Jeff hit his head on the table
and came up red-faced. Later when Jeff went
to the kitchen for some refreshments, Sandy
followed him and asked, "Did you see anything
you liked under the table?"

Sandy said, "You can have it, for a hundred
dollars." She told him that since Dave works
Friday afternoons and Jeff doesn't, she told
Jeff to come to her house at 2 pm Friday.

Friday came and Jeff came to Dave and Sandy's
house at 2 pm and they made love for hours.
Then Jeff left. Dave came home about 6 pm and
asked his wife, "Did Jeff come by this afternoon?"

Totally shocked,Sandy replied, "Yes he did stop
by for a few minutes.
"Did he give you a hundred dollars?"
Sandy thought, "O hell, he knows." Reluctantly
she replied, "Yes, he did give me a hundred
dollars."

Dave said, "Good. Jeff came by the office this
morning and borrowed a hundred dollars from
me nd said he would stop by our house on his
way home and pay me back. It's so good to
have a friend you can trust."

Returning home after work, a blonde was
shocked to find her house had been ransacked.
She telephoned the police at once and reported
the crime.

The police dispatcher broadcast the call on the
radio, and a K-9 unit, patrolling nearby, was
the first to respond.

As the K-9 officer approached the house with
the dog on a leash, the blonde ran out on the
porch, shuddered at the sight of the cop and
his dog, and sat down on the step with her
face in her hands, moaning, "I come home to
find all my possessions stolen. I call the police
for help, and what do they do? They send me
a blind policeman."

A travelling preacher finds himself caught
in a tremendous rain-storm. Within hours,
the motel he is staying in is flooded. As the
water rises, the preacher climbs to the roof
and starts praying.

Just then a coast guard rescue party floats
by in a rowboat. "Let's go, mister." the coast
guard order, "Into the boat."
"I'll stay here," says the preacher, "The Lord
will save me."

An hour later, a second boat reaches the motel,
"Sir, you'd better get in," his would be rescuer
advises, "The water is still rising."
"No thanks," the preacher says, "the Lord is my
salvation.

Towards evening, the motel is almost completely
under water, and the preacher is clinging to the
satellite dish on the roof. Another boat reaches
the dish. "Hey, buddy, get in, this is your last
chance."

"I'm all right," said the preacher, looking toward
Heaven, "I know the Lord will provide."
As the boat departs, the satellite dish is hit by
lightning and the preacher is killed.

When he arrives at the Pearly Gates, he is furious.
"What happened?" he shouts, "I thought the Lord
would provide."

Within seconds, a thunderous reply is heard, "What
are you talking about? I sent three boats."
<><>

Well I will say Goodnight now and get off to bed
as tomorrow is my shopping day, so have to get
going in the morning. Take care of yourselves
and each other. Love and Best Wishes to you all.
Cheers, Merle.

Dear Merle,
Once again you had some funny jokes. I can always count on finding at least one here, but today found several I liked.

Hope you slept good and got a nice rest.

Love,

I have seen that poem before, it's lovely, isn't it.

I know I'll always find a laugh in your posts, Merle, thank you very much for that. If I was a depressed person, your blog would be a wonderful cure.

Hugs.

Hi Merle,
I got a little behind on my visits here, so sorry for that..
Enjoyed all the jokes, but the preacher on the roof was my favorite.

I enjoyed the poem, Merle—and the jokes. Thanks.

You may have noticed that my blog, Nick’s Bytes, has been inaccessible since Friday, July 18th. Blogger finally acknowledged the problem yesterday. In the meantime, I’m helping Alex with is blog.

We all seem to be somewhat behind. I'm blaming it on the heat.

Love the preacher joke. I first heard it as "3 rowboats and a helicopter" but it's the same story.

Hi, Merle! I loved the preacher waiting for help. I guess we all have to learn to recognize what God is telling us and how often He allows other people to minister to us. I know a lot of people have helped me out!

Good post agan, Merle! It was too bad that blonde had a prejudice against blind cops.
Bloggers are friends we have never met, but they won't be strangers when we do. That is what happened at our Blogstock in Nebraska.
If I ever get to the 'down under' land, I will try to look you up. I feel I know you pretty well.
Cheers,
..

Enjoyed the poem and LOL at the blonde joke. I thought the preacher was so funny not recognizing help when he saw it. Have fun shopping. Peace

Merle your Helen Steiner Rice poem is special. It reminded me of when my oldest son was just a small boy, maybe three or four. We were visiting my aunt and her new husband who we had not met before. My little Mikey walked over to Joe, reached up and took his hand and with the precious sweetness of a little child he asked, "will you be my friend?"
My Mikey has been gone for almost 17 years. He is always in my heart and my mind.
Thank you for a sweet memory.
Love, hugs & prayers

Hello dear Merle, Thanks so much for the birthday wishes. How thoughtful of you to remember. I love the Helen Steiner Rice poem. So true!
What a shock to read that Olive died. I know we must expect it when one reaches such a ripe old age, but still, how sad to see such a wonderful lady pass. Thanks for letting us know.
How nice to have Geoff and Jo there for a couple of days to keep you company and get a few jobs done.
The whale story is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
I hope you're keeping warm and snug this winter. xox
