Whispers from God.

Post 488~ ~ ~ Tuesday. 29th July, 2008.

Hello Everyone ~~ A brighter day today, but we do
need lots more rain as the storage dams are very low.
I hope the week is going well for you ~ they go by so
very quickly. Or is that just because I am old??

My Home Care Lady came today so we are tidy again
and had a couple of friends call in during the day.
I washed my bed linen and got it nearly dry. It is
keeping me company in the lounge sharing the heater.

I am not a very good photographer but took some to
show you/ First one is Olive's Blog with the correct
address and Mike has put a sign on the top - In memory
of Olive which I didn't get. Sorry about the flash glare.

Doesn't she look great? Taken just a year or so ago. We should look
so good at her age. I am sure she has gone to her reward.

This is the lovely bird feeder Kathy sent me, although at present
I am not using it as a feeder, as I don't want birds right on my porch.

Next one is the solar fairy, Kathy sent, with her son Joh. You can
see the black solar panels which I turn to the morning sun.

This one is a bit better, The globe was actually lit up just as it got
dark, although that doesn't show. I will try to get a better photo
on a nice sunny day. I love both gifts. Thank you so much Kathy
and family.

My dear friend Margaret sent me this nice one.
Thank you so much Margaret.

You have to listen very closely to hear the voice of God.

Whispers.

The man whispered, "God, speak to me" and a meadow-
lark sang. . . . . But the man did not listen.

The man looked around and said, "God let me see you."
And a star shined brightly. . . . But the man did not see.

And the man shouted, "God, show me a miracle."
And a life was born. . . . But the man did not notice.

So the man called out in despair, "Touch me God, and
let me know you are here."
Whereupon, God reached down and touched the man.
But the man brushed the butterfly away . . and walked on.

I found this to be a great reminder that God is always
around us in little and simple things that we take for
granted . . even in our electronic age.

So I would like to add one more :

The man cried, "God, I need your help."
And an e-mail arrived reaching out with good news and
encouragement.
But the man deleted it and continued crying.

Don't miss out on a blessing because it isn't packaged
the way that you expect.

Won't you pass this on to people you want to be blessed.

Have a Happy Day.

Now to find some jokes for you ~ ~ ~
One from Patty once again. Thank you.

Duct Tape or a Nail.

A man dies and goes to heaven. St Peter meets him at
the Pearly Gates and says, "Here's how it works. You
need 200 points to make it into heaven. You tell me
all the good things you've done, and I give you a certain
number of points for each item, depending how good it
was. When you reach 200 points, you get in."

"Okay," the man says, "I was married to the same woman
for 50 years and never cheated on her, even in my heart.

"That's wonderful," says St Peter, "that's worth two points."

"Two points ?" he says. "Well I attended church all my life
and supported it's ministry with my tithe and service.

"Terrific," says St Peter . . "That's certainly worth a point."

"One point? I started a soup kitchen in my city and worked
in a shelter for homeless veterans."

"Fantastic, that's good for two more points>" he says.

"Two points ?" Exasperated, the man cries, "At this rate
the only way I'll get into heaven is by the grace of God."

"Bingo !! 200 points !! Come on in !! "

We often try to fix problems with WD-40 and duct tape.
God did it with a Nail. Amen.

The next one came from my friends, Connie and Robyn.
Thank you both, my friends.

The over 30 Crowd.
If you are 30 or older you will think this is hilarious.

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears . .. with
their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when
they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles
to school every morning . . . uphill BOTH ways.

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there
was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that
on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they have it.
But now that I'm well over the ripe age of 30, I can't help but
look around and notice the youth of today.

You've got it so easy. I mean, compared to my childhood, you
live in a damn Utopia. And I hate to say it but you kids today
you don't know how good you've got it.

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have the internet....If we
wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library
and look it up ourselves. There was no e-mail. We had to
actually write somebody a letter, with a pen....Then you had to
walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and
it would take like a week to get there.

There were no MP3's or Napsters. You wanted to steal music,
you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it
yourself. Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the
radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning.

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting. If you were on the
phone and someone else called they got a busy signal, that's it.
And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either. When the
phone rang, you had no idea who it was. It could be your school,
your mom, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, a
collections agent, you just didn't know. You had to pick it up
and take a chance, mister.

We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with
high resolution 3-D graphics. We had the Atari 2600. With
games like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids'. Your guy was a
little square. You actually had to use your imagination. And
there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen
forever. And you could never win. The game just got harder
and harder and faster and faster until you died. Just like LIFE.

When you went to the movie theatre there was no such thing
as stadium seating. All the seats were the same height. If a
tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you
coldn't see, you were just screwed.

Sure, we had television, but back then there were only
5 channels, (2 if you lived in the country) and there was no
on-screen menu and no remote control. You had to use a little
book called a TV Guide to see what was on. You had to get up
and walk over to the TV to change channels and there eas no
Cartoon Network either. You could only get cartoons on
Saturday mornings. Do you hear what I'm saying. We had to
wait all week for cartoons, you spoiled little brats.

And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat some-
thing up we had to use the stove or light a fire . . .imagine that?
That's exactly what I'm talking about. You kids today have got
it too easy. You're spoiled and wouldn't have lasted five minutes
back in 1980.
Regards, The over 30 Crowd.

my affection for you."

Did you hear about the doctor who tried to be a
kidnapper? He failed because no one could read
his ransom letters.

Well time for me to close. Take good care of
each other and yourselves. Love and Best Wishes
to you all. Cheers, Merle.

I wanted to get a feeder to hang right outside my window, though most of my windows have kind of been in the wrong place (that is too high up, in shadow... not at ll the kind of place seed eating birds would look for their dinner)... now the window looks out over the street, so I think I have a better chance of getting something to eat out of it (if/when I finally do get it...)

... wasn't Olive a legend...

Your gifts are just lovely!!!

Loved the 30 Crowd joke!!! I will email that one out to my email friends!

Olive's blog is so wonderful to read! I am enjoying it immensely!

I am trying to catch up a little on blog reading! The alst week of each month is "crunch" time for my jobs, so I have to work long hours now. Doesn't leave me a whole lot time for blogging, though. I would rather blog than work! LOL

(((((( HUGS ))))))

It's so funny (and sad) not be able to read Olive's "Blob" any more. Dear old soul that she was.

I just love your little solar light fairy...where did Kathy get it? I'd like to get one for outside my front door.

Thanks for the jokes, Merle. Glad you liked the one from the Over 30 Crowd...it's so true.

Have a good rest of the week. Hugs.

Dear Merle,

Oh, I love both the bird feeder and the solar fairy. They are just lovely. And I'm glad your home care lady came and made things all tidy.

Whispers is a lovely reminder of the many blessings we don't even think about. Duct Tape or Nails was very nice as well.

Hard to believe that back in 1980 things were practically "old fashioned" compared to today. LOL. The 50s when I was a teen were the dark ages, compared to today. LOL. Ah, but they were nice dark ages.

I enjoyed the visit with you, dear Merle. It is very hot in my corner of the planet, and a little dry as well, but rain is in the forecast for today. My little garden will appreciate it.

Until next time, stay well and happy, dear Merle.

Love,

Renie

Hello dearest Merle,

I think as we get older, time goes by much faster...at least that's what it feels like to me! lol I find there are not enough hours in a day anymore. It's a rainy day here today so since I can't do any outside work, I'm visiting my blogging friends:-)

Such lovely gifts you received from Kathy...you knew I would just love that faerie!! hehe The little bird feeder is also gorgeous, it looks nice just as an ornament.

I was so saddened to hear of Olive's passing not long ago...I use to go visit her "blob" at least once a week. She was a delight and will certainly be missed.

As always, dear Merle, I enjoyed the stories and jokes. Love that Over 30 crowd...soooo true what it says! lol Kids these days have way more than we ever did.

Take care my friend. xoxo
