Never Borrow Trouble.

Post 499 ~ ~ ~ Saturday, 23rd August, 2008.

Hello My Friends ~~ I hope that you are having or will have
a really nice weekend. I have had another very nice day with
a visit from my son Geoff and DIL Joanne. It is always nice to
see them and as usual Geoff worked in my garden for a couple
of hours and gets such a lot done.

He trimmed back all the offending tree hanging over my yard,
so now I will get more light and a lot less lilly-pilly purple
berries all over my lawn etc. And they grow into more lilly-
pilly bushes. They are the bane of my life!!

My friend and neighbo Lorraine came over and lent a hand
also. She loaned her tree trimmer to us to do the job.
So I am a very fortunate old lady to have some willing helpers.

Now for the photo that I lost the last post.

My three visitors last Wednesday. Pauline, Jan's sister, Gwen and Jan.

Pauline, Myself and Jan (Jeanette.)

I lost another photo tonight, darn it.

At least my Football team won!!

Thank you all very much for your comments. I will try to get to
them tomorrow. They are much appreciated, but with visitors
and the usual supervising work, I have got behind.

Another Poem from Helen Steiner Rice.
Never Borrow Trouble From Tomorrow.

Deal only with the present,
Never step into tomorrow,
For God asks us to trust Him
And to never borrow sorrow - - - -

For the future is not ours to know
And it may never be,
So let us live and give our best
And give it lavishly - - - -

For to meet tomorrow's troubles
Befor they are even ours
Is to anticipate the Savior
And to doubt His all-wise powers - - - -

So let us be content to solve
Our problems one by one,
Ask nothing of tomorrow
Except "
Thy Will be done."
<><>

Time for some jokes now.

Thank you Barbara for this one - - -

Jack decided to go skiing with his buddy, Mike. So they
loaded up Mike;s vehicle and headed north. After driving
for a few hours, they got caught in a terrible blizzard. So
they pulled into a nearby farm and asked the attractive
lady who
answered the door, if they could spend the night.

"I realize it's terrible weather out there and I have this huge
house all to myself, but I'm recently widowed," she
explained, "I'm afraid the neighbors will talk if I let you
stay in my house.

"Don't worry," said Jack. "We'll be happy to sleep in the
barn. And if the weather breaks, we'll be gone at first
light." The lady agreed, and the two men found their way
to the barn and settled in for the night. Come morning,
the weather had cleared, and they got on their way They
enjoyed a great week of skiing.

But about nene months later, Jack got an unexpected
letter from an attorney. It took him a few minutes to
figure it out, but he finally determined that it was from
the attorney of that attractive widow he had met on the
ski weekend.

He dropped in on his friend Mike and asked, "Mike, do
you remember that good-looking widow from the farm
we stayed at on our ski weekend?"

"Yes, I do." said Mike.

"Did you happen to get up in the middle of the night,
go up to the house and pay her a visit?"

"Well, um, yes," mike said, a little embarrassed about
being found out, "I have to admit that I did."

:And did you happen to give her my name instead of
telling her your name?"

Mike's face turned beet red and he said, "Yeah, look
I'm sorry, buddy. I;m afraid I did. Why do you ask?"

"She just died and left me everything."

Thank you Linda for the next one.

Julie Andrews turned 69, and to commemorate her birth-
day, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan's
Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of AARP. She
performed "My Favorite Things from the Sound of Music.
Here are the lyrics she used :

Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string.
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golfc carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad, I simple remember my
favorite things, And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring.
These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin'
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin'
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, When the hips break.
When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had
And then I don't feel so bad.

Ms Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd
that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores
I hope you enjoyed Ms Andrews' clever wit and humor.

The sociologist on an African jungle expedition held up
her camera to take pictures of the native children at
play. Suddenly all the children began to yell in protest.

Turning red, the sociologist apologised to the chief for
her insensitivity and told him she had forgotten that
certain tribes believed a person lost his soul if his
picture was taken. She explained to him in long-
winded detail the operation of a camera. Several
times the chief tried to get a word in, but to no avail.

Certain she had put all the chief's fears to rest, the
sociologist then allowed him to speak. Smiling, he said,
"The children were trying tell you that you forgot to
take the lens cap off."

A young man visited his local welfare office and was
asked to give his surname--- all other details wuld be
on the computer.

The assistant typed in his name, then read from the
screen: "You are James Herbert Roberts of Oldfield
Lane, London, age 22, single, unimployed for one year,
now working as a plumber for James nad Co. It is all
here, every last detail. Now, what is yiur query?""Well,"
said the man, "it's about the widow's pensiom you
keep sending me."

Well, time to close my friends. Look after each other
,have some fun and enjoy your lives. Love and Best
Wishes to you all. Cheers, Merle.

Dear Merle,

I enjoyed the pictures of you and your friends, both in this post and the post below. It's always nice to have visitors. And a wonderful son who comes to help is a blessing as well.

Great that your football team won again!

Another beautiful poem by Helen Steiner Rice, and so true. Why worry about tomorrow. Just enjoy our blessings we have today and trust Him about tomorrow.

Funny story about Jack and Mike. I read the new words to My Favorite Things before, and even sang it. Hahaha.

Dear Merle, I enjoyed the jokes and the pictures, as always. It's Sunday morning here, and I will be getting ready for church soon. Our weather has been lovely and I always look forward to Sundays, and lunch with some church friends after our service.

I hope your Sunday has been pleasant and that the coming week will be filled with good things.

Take care and God bless!

Love,

Renie

Hi Merle. Julie Andrews has a super sense of humor! I found her song very funny and am sorry to say I can relate quite well to most of that song! LOL
I've had a quiet week end. It is late Sunday afternoon here and raining to beat the band. We had a really warm day yesterday so the rain came as a surprise. It was needed though as I was planning to water gardens today.
Take care and remember you are loved.

Hi Merle, this is a very nice post. Your pictures are sooooo nice too. I am glad you are in one of them.
We have been pretty busy, yesterday we went to an all day party across the lake. We ate and enjoyed all day long. I might use a picture or two from there.
Your first poem was very nice. I hadn't known it.
Cheers,
..

For some reason, when I try to open your post about the bikers, it brings me to this post. I can see the other, but it won't let me open it and comment. Perhaps it's just me having a problem.
