Spring Flowers.

Post 505 ~ ~ ~ Saturday, 6th September, 2008.

Hello My Friends ~ ~ It has been a lovely Spring Day here today,
around 19 C which is about 67 F. With more to come, great. It
still gets cool at night, and I like the heater on after tea. So what
does my gas heater decide to do? Refuse to light. So after
ringing the Repairman who will come on Monday morning, he
suggested I try lighting it with a gas-gun. That worked thank
goodness, so it seems it is only the ignition switch which is broken.

I hope the world is treating you all well, and the darn hurricanes
not doing too much damage. Rain is OK, I guess, but not the
strong winds and destruction. Take great care, friends.

A very Happy Father's Day tomorrow in Australia and to all
the Grand-dads too, anywhere it is Father's Day.

Instead of a story tonight, I have some Spring Flowers to show.

This is a lovely red Camellia with nice large flowers.

A close-up of that Camellia, held by my friend Lorraine. Thanks, Lorraine.

This is a lovely Rhododendrom, and a pale pink Camellia beside it.

A creamy white Camellia in a corner, with daisies and another red Camellia.

These pots have the first Freezias and a Geranium in each etc.
All of these are in my front garden.

Now to find some jokes ~ ~ ~

The first ones, Lorraine sent in an e mail. Thanks again.

GAMES FOR WHEN WE ARE OLDER>
.
1. Sag, you're IT.
2. Hide and go pee.
3. 20 Questions shouted into your good ear.
4. Kick the bucket
5. Red Rover; Red Rover, the nurse says Bend Over.
6. Musical Recliners.
7. Simon says something incoherent.
8. Pin the toupee on the bald guy

SIGNS OF MENOPAUSE..

1. You sell your home heating system at a yard sale.
2. You have to write post-it notes with your kids' names on.
3. You change your underwear after a sneeze.

OLD IS WHEN :

1. Going bra-less pulls all the wrinkles out of your face.
2. You don't care where your spouse goes, just as long
as you don't have to go along.
3. Getting a little action means I don't need fiber today.
4. Getting lucky means finding your car in the parking lot.
5. An allnighter means not getting up to pee.

Thoughts for the weekend :

Wouldn't it be nice if whenever we messed up our life we could
simply press "Ctr.Alt.Delete" and start oer?

If raising children was going to be easy, it never would started
with something called labor.

Brain cells come and brain cells go, but fat cells live forever.

Ponderisms ~ ~ ~

I used to eat a lot of natural foods until I learned that most
people die of natural causes.

Garden Rule: When weeding, the best way to make sure you
are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the garden easily, it's a valuable plant.

The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to
buy a replacement.

Have you noticed since everyone has a camcorder these days
no one talks about seeing UFOs like they used to?

In the 60's people took acid to make the world weird. Now
the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes
a whole box of matches to start a camp-fire ?

If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why is there a song
about it?

Why does your OB-GYN leave the room when you get undressed
if he's going t o look up there anyway?

Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle?

But Most of all, Remember :

A Good Friend is Like a Good Bra. Hard to find, Supportive,
Comfortable, and Always Close to Your Heart.

Do you ever wonder why you gave me your e mail address?

Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive, anyway.

One from Sue and Bob. Thank you..

A Kiwi man was washed up on a beach after a terrible
shipwreck. Only a sheep and a sheep dog were washed up
with him.
After looking around, he realized that they were stranded
on a deserted island. After being there a while, he got into
the habit of taking his two animal companions to the beach
every evening to watch the sun set.

One particular evening, the sky was a fiery red with beautiful
cirrus clouds, the breeze was warm and gentle - a perfect
night for romance. As they sat there, the sheep started looking
better and better to the Lonely Kiwi.

Soon he leaned over to the sheep and put his arm around it.
But the sheep dog, ever protective of the sheep, growly fiercely
until the man took his arm from around the sheep.

After that, the three of them continued to enjoy the sunsets
together, but there was no more cuddling. A few weeks passed
by
and lo and behold, there was another shipwreck.

This time the only survivor was a beautiful young woman, the
most beautiful woman the man had ever seen She was in a
pretty bad way when he rescued her and he slowly nursed her
back to health. When the young maiden was well enough, he
introduced he to their evening beach ritual.

It was another beautiful evening red sky, cirrus clouds, a warm
and gentle breeze - perfect fr a night of romance.
Pretty soon, the Kiwi started to get 'those feelings' again.

He fought the urge as long as he could, but he finally gave in
and leaned over to the young woman, cautiously, and whispered
in her ear, "Would you mind taking the dog for a walk for me?
<><>

A young man hired by a supermarket reported for his first day
of work. The manager greeted him with a warm hand-shake
and a smile, gave him a broom and said, "Your first job will be
to sweep out the store."

"But I'm a university graduate," the young man replied
indignantly.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know that," said the manager. "Here
give me the broom ---I'll show you how."
<><>

Young man at marriage bureau" "All I want is a girl with a
sense of humour who can cook. Is that too much to ask
of an heiress?"
<><>

A man was up to his neck in quicksand when a weight-
lifter walked by. "Hello," cried the man, "I'm sinking."

"Don't worry," said the weight-lifter, "I'll soon have
you out."

After several attempts, he failed to lift the man an inch.
"Hang on, while I go for some help," the weight-lifter
gasped.

"Wait,~~ I have an idea," the man said, "Would it help
if I took my feet out of the stirrups?"
<><

One woman was talking to another on the telephone:
I ran into an old friend from school today and she
looked marvellous. She hadn't gained an ounce, and
she didn't have a single wrinkle ---so I ran into her again.

Time to say Bye for now Take care and have a
wonderful weekend. Love and best wishes to you all.
Cheers, Merle.

Dear Merle,

Your spring flowers are beautiful! And I'm glad you could light your heater. Happy Father's Day to all the dad's in Australia.

The games for us oldies are so fun. Not! Haha. And oh my, all niters are hard to come by at my age. And what a perfect description of a good friend.

How long was that Kiwi man stranded anyway? Haha.

Our weather has been delightful. My tomatoes are still doing well, although the cucumbers have finally bitten the dust. And I have just planted a long row of Fall lettuce, which I will be enjoying by mid-October. I do love Fall but don't love what follows.

I have so enjoyed my visit with you, dear Merle. I hope you had a lovely Sunday, and I wish you a good week ahead, with more flowers and beautiful spring days. Take care, dear friend.

Love,

Renie

Happy Spring and Happy Father's Day to the daddies in Australia:-) I've always wondered why we don't celebrate Father's Day on the same date...ours is always in June here.

Oh Merle, your flowers are just gorgeous! Mine are starting to look a little worse for wear now that the cooler weather has arrived. We had the remnants of Gustav on Friday and the winds and rains were so strong, it broke all my Gladiolas in half:-( They just couldn't take the strain of the heavy rain. My faerie garden is still blooming well though...I guess because it's protected by being planted under a large pine tree:-)

Hmmmm, I'm already playing a lot of the games for older people! LOL Always enjoy the ponderisms...they're all so true! hehe Thank you for always making my visits here such enjoyable ones:-) Hugs xoxo

Beautiful flowers, especially the Camellia! It was nice that the hurricanes missed us but we could have used some of the rain - got exactly none. ec

Hi Merle. Your flowers and garden are looking nice. Mrs. Jim and I can't grow Camellias, they die after a couple of years.

The last time I was at a marriage bureau was in Las Vegas. There was a guy there from California who wanted a divorce. He couldn't understand why that wasn't as easy as getting married.
I didn't want to interfere to tell him that preachers do marriages pretty cheap and the lawyers who charge more do the divorces.
Cheers,
..
